      Meine erste Schrauberei war am Straßenrand, eine K-Jet zerlegen. Mein erster Motortausch war draußen im Regen, Auto an Auto. Nach meinen ersten Schweißarbeiten habe ich im Auto übernachtet, weil es nach einem kleinen Brand nicht mehr fahrtauglich war. Es ist ein unfassbares Privileg diese Halle zu haben, aber das Gefühl etwas mit den eigenen Händen repariert zu haben - das geht niemals weg.

    I work as a detailer, so I often listen to podcasts and music as I clean. Now, I watched the full adventure series you did with this car, and was blown away by it. But afterwards, I would listen to every video over and over again while at work. Even today I did it again. I'm a bit sad to see that car go, but I'm also just happy to see more videos from you. You asked what kind of content us viewers wanted to see on the channel. I know many of us love exactly what you make now, be it the builds or the adventures. I don't know how feasible this is, but maybe there's an opportunity to do more frequent but smaller roadtrips to nearby destinations? Well, whatever happens I hope the charm of your videos (the cinematography, the music, the cars, you) always remains in some fashion.

    It's excellent that you did all that work freshening the car up for the new owner (especially if you hadn't charged him for the labor as part of the deal). It's really inspiring how you drop & disassemble the front and rear suspension (apparently without any hesitation) to clean them up as well; you're making me think seriously about doing the same on my 944S as I have all the necessary equipment to do it, except the lift... this is such a great channel!

    • @OnlyARoadtripAway
      @OnlyARoadtripAway  Год назад +2

      thx - and you're correct, labour wasn't charged. I've done a few of these cars now so taking a refresh like this looks challenging, but is really just basic stuff. Torsion bars require some knowledge on setup because it is impossible to do with the axle in, the rest is nuts and bolts. Go do it, especially on a 944-platform car it makes a lot of difference!

  • @AdrianColumbus

    You should never pressure wash the wheel bearing directly, it will push the grease out and it will run dry. Its the most common reason for wheelbearing failure. For anyone watching who are not rebuilding everything

    Excellent video! You crammed most of my build series stretching nearly two years into 10 minutes🤣 I am curious why you said it did not handle well?

    • @OnlyARoadtripAway
      @OnlyARoadtripAway  Год назад

      Well it had to be done. The actual buildup (from galvanizing to driving car) was 48hrs, because I got into an extreme time crunch.
      I didn't like the lifted suspension, limited power and non-rear anti roll bar plus no LSD on road at all. On snow it was really smooth and still heavily oversteered, but on dry surfaces there was nothing to be had. Plus without any underbody protection (not really needed on snow) it was highly unsuitable for anything but road use. Really cool idea, but a one trick pony.

    • @GarageBiljon
      @GarageBiljon Год назад

      Thanks @@OnlyARoadtripAway, good input. So I assume you have an LSD in your white one? I though that was lifted too?

    • @OnlyARoadtripAway
      @OnlyARoadtripAway  Год назад

      Nope, the 24S is ±40mm lowered and also open diff (LSD not fitted yet). It is built as a nicely driving street car, just as a widebody. I considered another rally build on that but it makes very little sense to destroy the almost perfect setup it has now.

    Wow that car is effectively brand new underneath. The new owner will have very little to worry about. That's more work than I did in 3 years to restore my 924 Turbo to road legal condition. However mine didn't run either.

      Suspension and brakes are to factory new spec, engine just got a major service. I reckon with a proper engine/trans rebuild and a half decent paintjob this car could turn heads.
