  • The Cirrus Perspective avionics suite is as deep as it is powerful. But, it can also be very intimidating. Knowing what information is available to you, how you access that information, and deciding how you want it displayed is no small feat. The key to putting all that power at your fingertips is in setting up your own Pilot Profile. Top Cirrus CSIP Ed Watters explains how to setup your pilot profile in the Cirrus Perspective avionics system.

Thanks Ren! Always a pleasure to watch your videos. I read a lot of Ed's comments on the COPA website, so it was good to see him also. I never thought about IFR and VFR profiles before, but the biggest thing I'd change is eliminating that pesky "Airspace ahead" and "In airspace" warnings I get with Perspective in my gen3 SR22T while flying IFR. Not necessary on an IFR flight plan, but a nice reminder when flying VFR. I'm going to think if there are other more subtle changes I'd like to have in each profile too. I also like Ed's tip about making a "Do Not Use" profile or label it "Test Profile", etc. Regards, John in OH.

I think the key here is to get your profile totally dialed in so you are seeing and hearing what you want when you want it. Setting up the profile is one of those boring but ever so important things you do before you get in the air that makes you safer once you are up there. Thanks for posting. Cheers-Ren

Hi Steve. New to your channel. It's great! I just started flying an SR20 G6/P+. Not quite a 22T GTS, but it has the P+ in common. Sorry if this has been asked/answered previously, but how do you hang the CAPS pin on the panel? Thanks, Steve

Hi Ren, from Belgium! I have a question: on the w&b page, you see a non editable field with the Basic Empty Weight of the acf. Where does this number come from? Is it factory set? How do you modify it if need be?
    Thanks! Arno

I believe this is set at the factory based on the equipment installed in the plane. But I'll need to check that...with Ed. Thanks for posting. Cheers-Ren

Reply from Ed..."Factory set and can be adjusted by a Cirrus service center if needed."

nice video. Not sure why one would have a different IFR v. VFR profile.... The same info is good to have regardless of type of flight.

One reason is to turn off airspace alerts when flying IFR.
