After my little sister watched this, she was screaming and displaying all those emotions for every little thing, and when my mom asked what was wrong out of concern she'd jump around and scream "help, the colourful people are in my head controlling me!" 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Roles of emotions:
Joy: Helps you keep living your day nicely whenever there is nothing to be afraid of, be disgusted of, be angry of, or be sad of.
Sadness: Helps you get help whenever things are not going well for you.
Anger: wants to make sure you are treated fairly and like everyone else, and also that anything that happens is fixed.
Fear: Keeps you safe from things that can physically harm you.
Disgust: Gets you away from things that are not physically or socially good for you.
Can't wait to see the new emotions!

I honestly think this is my all-time favorite Pixar movie. Every character is so relatable and the world is so interesting. I've seen it twice now and I already want to see it again. If anyone hasn't seen it yet I would highly advise you do. Seriously, this movie legitimately made me cry.

It seems like Joy is bottling up all the other emotions and preventing them from taking charge to keep Riley happy and Joyful all the time ignoring all her other emotions

Great analysis! I love the message of the movie. Embrace ALL your emotions. That's how we stay grounded. It's impossible to always be "happy". Not to mention exhausting.

I feel like I'm alone in this, but I actually would really like to see a second inside out movie where maybe the emotions somehow met the logical side of Riley's brain, maybe with it in the form of an animate being as well, and Riley would have to navigate through the difficulties of school and relying on the logical side of her brain as well as emotions. I also kinda want to see what happens to emotions at the point of death, and I'm not sadistic or anything, but I feel like it would be interesting to see whether the emotions vanish all at once, or one by one, or if the memories all flash in the mind, or if it just happens really fast or something like that. I don't mean Riley, of course, but maybe we could see it in someone else, like a grandparent or something, and see how Riley learns to deal with this loss, especially since sadness is now a more integrated emotion. I don't know, I think it would be cool to see these things. Weird convo paragraph over :)

1. Inside Out took 5 years to make. Production of the movie started in 2009.
2. Originally, Joy and Fear were going to be the ones swept out of Headquarters, and Joy and Fear were also going to be paired up. (STARNERVE CLAP!) Soon, the roles of Fear and Sadness were switched.
3. Inside Out posted SO many sneak peeks, trailers, clips, and TV Spots than ANY other Pixar movie.
4. Inside Out had a party on Disney's massive online game, Club Penguin.
5. Inside Out's Blu-Ray disc will include a short, called Riley's First Date.

I work with kids with mental illness...and this movie is absolutely brilliant. From the short term memory...long time, core, to 'deleting' memories...everything is AMAZING. And all the emotions...and how we sometimes DO need to experience sadness...not always joy.

If you watch closely at 6:59 you can see that the father has a lot of blue orbs. For me who watched this wonderful movie and who know the story, I think that this is so great ! I love how Pixar always put little details everywhere
-Spoilers- Everyone hates on Joy for being such a control freak, but she's the leader of the console, just like Anger leads Riley's dad and Sadness leads in Riley's mom. It's just that Joy is probably still trying to master her role as a leader, where the leaders of Riley's parents' minds had mastered it. Joy's job is to decide what the emotions do basically. When you look at it, you do see the only one she really pushes away from the console is Sadness. (With that one exception of the grape scene-even then she didn't push disgust away entirely) It's the complete opposite of herself, so she wouldn't want Sadness to affect her goal of Riley's happiness. It wasn't really a stretch to say that Joy just didn't understand completely how the emotions should work together, not just control at some points. Perhaps if she would have read the manuals, it would have helped. Sadness read them and she understood that she and Joy had to work together in Riley's reunion with her parents.
And she wants Riley to be happy

Bernardo Castillo I think it's the same reason DreamWorks kept Shen (from Kung fu Panda 2) at an angle. I remember the animators saying if the camera had Shen facing forward he would look like a lollipop with eyes, so Pixar might be doing the same.

i have to say of all of these clips, my favourite has to be the circle of sadness one. Especially in the wider context of the film. It's so cleverly done in the way that sadness is being bottled up and trying to be repressed but that it just can't be. Such an intelligent film this one

As a 19 year old boy, I think I say this with great enthusiasm when I say this is my most favourite movie of all time, thus far - with hands down.
The only thing comparable in my mind for the level of intensity another movie ever brought for me would be Good Will Hunting. Somehow, these two movies capture a feeling I long to express more lucidly, and I believe being able to do that will lead to a better world for me, and my fellow beings.

I like how different emotions are the leaders in different minds like in Riley's mind Joy is the leader, in her Mom sadness is the leader, and in her Dad anger is the leader.

I love this movie it's so relatable and fundamental. Amy Poehler and Phyllis Smith did an amazing job.
I lived in San Francisco for my first ten years of life, then moved to West Bloomfield, Michigan, so I related to Riley's experience, even though she moved to SF. The whole transition depressed the hell out of me, but I never let anyone know how I felt. I've seen over a thousand movies, and a few have made me teary-eyed. This is the only story in any medium that has made me cry so hard I could barely breathe. It was like I was making up for not ever letting it out during that period in my life. The realization near the end is what really got me going.

This was in my reccomended, because I kept rewatching Outside In.
I loved how anger just immediately stopped right after the dad said "here comes the airplane."

I like it when Fear fainted while watching the nature documentary because ACTUAL predators are a valid source of fear in real life. The thought of a bear or a tiger hunting for prey would activate the survival instincts of any human being.
Now I remember why this movie is my favourite that I've seen (or at least one of the reasons); It's massively charming.

You know whats disturbing, the dads main emotion is anger and the mums is sadness, what does this tell us about their relationship.
Did you notice how all the emotion are sit in the same table actin like a team? nobody is getting scared or sad or angry changing everything, they act like a team, that tells me: A very good relationship.
Jesus Mercedes I agree, it shows that they have already reached a level of emotional maturity. Whereas Riley is still figuring life stuff out. =)
Considering anger is there to make sure things are fair and sadness is for empathy/reaching out for help I'd say good things 😉

i think riley had joy as her main emotion because most of the time children are happy. mom has sadness because i think she resembles the Riley's mom and the animators took it as a main character of mom. and for dad because anger seems like he cares and is lot like Riley's dad that is the reason they did it

I must say, Pixar has really improved their CGI over the years - it's quite impressive, actually, to see how realistic their textures look now.
And to think, in 10 years' time, when they've made films with even *better* graphics, we'll be looking back on _Inside Out_ and snarking, "Man, these graphics are so shit!" just like we currently do to their earlier films like _Toy Story_ and _Monsters, Inc._. But hey - technology marches on! You just gotta keep movin' forward, as Walt Disney said. :)
