Microworms - moving to Instant Potatoes

- Instant potatoes are the place for growing microworms. Cultures last longer and there is vVery little smell when it finishes. This is so easy. Here is step my step how to do it. With the results after a week. Yes you need a beginning culture from someone.
I've been doing instant mashed potatoes for about a year or so. About every month I just scoop about 2/3rds of the whole culture into the trash and make more potatoes. Stir em up and it takes a week or so for them to get culturing again. Great video sir!
Haven’t tried instant potatoes. I use Rice Krispies (generic brand), but I also use a lot more yeast. I’ve had my cultures going for months with no mold or smell. Thanks for sharing. Very well explained. 👍
Have you tried other foods yet? bread, oatmeal...? can't decide which one or maybe a culture of each..?
Great post
I wish you posted more often your videos are great
good advice with worms living in the top, thank you
Masa/corn flour works well for low smell too.
I like your videos. How about a video tour of your fish room?
Father Fish talked about you in his livestream. You should try organizing your videos into playlists
Do you sell starter cultures? There are extremely limited options, where I live there are no local stores that sell these. I got some from Washington and they've barely reproduced in 3 weeks!
I use oatmeal, and it does smell, lol.
But, just curious. What are all the black specks everywhere? I have never seen that in any of my cultures. Doesn’t the mold harm the worms?
This should have been restarted much sooner. Just held off until I was ready to make the video. The specs are probably bug larvae. Only a little mold so not a problem at this point. But definitely time to get this culture restarted.
why does everyone in these how-to videos forget the yeast? I don't think I've seen one video yet from anyone that remembered the yeast while making their culture ... apparently you don't do this all the time cuz if you did yeast would be second nature by now ...
I do not add yeast every time. If the culture is old and not real healthy I will put in fresh yeast when making a new culture. But if the culture is going really well I will not put in extra yeast when I make a new culture. Why? Too much yeast and a new culture gets bubbly and never really settle down and makes a good culture. It is a balancing act. If the culture is doing well, there will be plenty of yeast in what I transfer over to get it off to a good start.
Yuck !! You can have it. NOT me.
Its fish food for baby fish lol
