A low quivering voice is more powerful than a thousand silent men.
+Patricia Dana (Kordapya) I love that quote.
There are many components to writing a great speech such as making it humorous not boring and the right length One plan I found that successfully combines these is the Talking Template Bundle (check it out on google) without a doubt the most useful info i've seen. Check out this extraordinary resource
This hit me hard.. I hate speaking in class discussion because of my Low voice.. now I know how good it's than being silent
Damn i loved it
a powerful quote, worth taking note.
Any introverts here like me lol?
Im here 😊
Im one too! :)
I'm nervous about impromptu speaking tmr! Wish me well.
@@sokhornmith9558 Good luck Sokhorn! Remember to keep your own pace and let them react to you and dont start reacting to them. That difference will keep you centered and free. Enjoy, relax and make sure to enjoy yourself (almost like you have an inside joke that they dont know about!) Have a good time- they will feel your energy. Have a great one.
I am an introvert but still I can make commmendable speeches and abandon many speechless.
Im 15 and figuring out that my incapability to speak in front of others have been a major problem in my life.Soon I will have to do an impromptu speech with random topic and I'm very nervous.Thank you for the tips.

"1. I'm centered no matter what! 2. I'm enjoying myself! Smiling and laughing at myself. 3. I can't fail. This is all wins, no loss!"
Hey Im glad you dig the ideas! Making sure you don't let the environment rule you is probably most imprortant, move at your own place, in your own style and taking things lightly is hugely important!
@@GoBiggie1880 Being grounded and light-hearted
@@GoBiggie1880 Yes., This always work for me. I am going ahead to be a public speaker of impromptu style . I hate to follow schedule
first key: i'm centered no matter what
2 key: enjoy yourself
3 key: i can't fail. this is all wins, no loss!!!
Listened to this the night before an impromptu speech presentation on a random topic given to us by our teacher. I killed the presentation because of this video. Thank you
Awesome @kyle may! Appreciate the sharing and I am glad you were able to apply some of the ideas... Keep killin it and using your voice!
If you become good at impromptu speaking at informal meetings, you will be an amazing speaker at real formal ones
This is so true @Jamal Mohammed, I am a firm believer that a formal speech is nothing but a grouping of impromptu speaking moments that have been done in the past over time.. The craft of speaking is organic! Great point!
As a longtime professional speaker and speech coach, I found these tips helpful enough to share with my clients. Well done!
@Bill Lampton ! THank you for the kind words. I am so glad you found the information helpful and useful. Are you in Florida?
No, I live in Gainesville, Georgia, have been here three decades this month.

Trish Marie how did it go lol?
mine is tomorrow! How was yours?
How did your speech go, never got to respond. Have you been able to use all the ideas ?! Anything work for your style more?
Focus on yourself, go at your own pace
Make your stories personal but also relevant and connecting to your audience
Less is more don't be afraid to pause, and leaving the audience hanging for dramatic effect
Asking a question, leading with a story, or curious/bizzare fact
i watch this video three times last monday,
the next day i was given a topic and explains it in class and NAILED IT!
dunno if what i did was not right but i felt AWESOME!
@NaFFie Tamano congrats on the feedback. I am so happy you were able to really do great in your presentation. Awesome, excited to hear....
Thank you soo much! This helps me a lot! I have numerous experiences of public speaking, but still i'm unable to fight my anxiety when giving impromptu speech to the point of brain freeze. I always thought that there's no way i could improve myself and i was born this way. After listening to you, i've realized that back then i was waaay to perfectionist. I forgot to enjoy myself. I only wanted to impress people. I pushed my brain to create bombastic sentences with bombastic ideas. I always visualize myself talking with full of charisma & authoritatively. But that's how i got anxiety in public speaking.
The main objective of speech & public speaking is to share our view and ideas to people. I forgot to be engaged & comfortable with the audience and exude friendliness.
Having national speech competition tomorrow. Love this. Thank you.
Hanifa, how are your competitions going? Hope you going strong!
Hanifa K. Cook are you in NCFCA?
I am almost 40 and I am from China, I am starting to learn how to make a speech in public and I found out that I had an idea but don't know how to put them together and persuade people. Your tips looks very help to me and I will practise them over and give you the feedbacks. thank you so much for your sharing!
i have an improptu speech tomorrow without giving an specific topic.i hope this tips will help me tomorrow.thank you so much for sharing!
I started the video actively anxious about maybe having to speak today. I still won't know when I speak until it happens but I feel much better after watching
This surely helped me calm down. XD We got impromptu in class and we were picked randomly. I was really nervous because I was thinking about the unknowns that might happen if I was picked.
Im glad it helped, have you done impromptu speaking since then?
Yeah so I was picked amd forced to do a hard topic. Failed it😔
I've got a summer job at a tourism informational center and a big part of this is impromptu speaking. Maybe it's not quite in the same category as giving a spontaneous speech, but maybe more of carrying on a spontaneous conversation, and I never know who is going to walk in the door. Many times they know where they want to go but have no clue as to what they're specifically going to do once they get there. "Starting with a question" is a great technique. I might ask, "Are you an inside person or an outside person? Are you looking for hiking trails or an air-conditioned museum?" Being a good listener is an important part of keeping the conversation going too. Listen to their response, try to understand their goals, then try to take it one step further. If they're looking for a sandy beach and a salt water experience, I try to think of a place that I've been to in the not so distant past and weave a little bit of a personal story into the conversation. Hopefully, I can follow my story up with a rack card, a trail map or a brochure that I can put in their hand. If we end with a smile and a handshake - mission accomplished!
I'm a debater, and my problem in speech has always been spontaneous speech which I encounter a lot due to unfinished case building because of the lack of time to finish them, which I'm often left with bright ideas but not yet written in detail on my papers and in the end they ended up not delivered. And when I tries to do impromptu on it I ended up talking trash and not getting my points across. So thanks for the video, this helps me a bit!
This is very helpful for a contest I'll be attending to. Also a great confidence booster. Thank you! I have learned a lot.
Hi! I am a freshman in highschool, representing our class in Impromptu speaking, against the rest of the whole high school department. So... I found this video reaaaaally helpful since I was freaking nervous so, I just wanna thank you for the tips you handed out. Thanks a bunch, have a nice day :)
+Yien Ji Awesome! I am so happy you liked this video. How did your impromptu speech go? I think being centered is one of the biggest things you can do for yourself!
Hi Sean! I'm taking a Presentation Speaking class and we're having our first impromptu speeches exercises this evening. Thanks for the tips... Wish me luck
Ugh.. Tomorrow is ours and I cannot even sleep because of it.. Thank you for the advice..
Im here because i haven't prepared anything yesterday XD
just wanted to say.. this is my 1st "help talking" video i've seen (tons of ted talk stuff.. nothing specifically on just how to get onto that stage and talk though)... i'm going to be watching a lot more. i like to basically brainwash myself with helpful information lol. but, the method of a simple list followed with examples is very helpful. i have HFA/aspergers (people know different terms) so although i can talk.. i have that very low voice most of the time and i don't do casual conversation
like the smiley face thing.... i can do informational. telling a story about me making one on a dirty window is a world apart due to my view of outside judgement (existent or not)
Thank you so much for these tips, there is this competition where schools will have to compete with each other and there was a screening in our school in impromptu speaking. My grammar teacher told me to give it a try, i competed against two of my classmates who were also my very close friends. They were both very intelligent so I had my hopes down. But as they announced who was chosen it was me, i couldn't even believed that it was not one of my friends. Now I have to prepare to compete against other schools and I am thinking about negative things, but this will not be the reason why I will give up. This is a very great opportunity for me since it is my very first time to join a competition. Once again I am very thankful for these tips that i will be needing.
This was so helpful! I have to do an impromptu speech in a couple weeks and stressing so much. Thanks for the tips! Made me a little less nervous:)

Thanks for great tips for impromptu speech. I will keep in mind the tips you have couches me. 1 “ Less is more” ( don’t worry , be happy😃) 2. Asking audience what is smiley face and make it personal. Tell your story. My mom when she saw the cloud or dust in the dirty car, she made a smile face to pass a good vibes. A great example that you gave , I am sure , it will give an impact to your audience. Blessings to you 👍😃😇
@Mary Rus Thanks for the positive comments and I keep those tips in mind next time you get up there! Being concise and powerful in your comments is key to have an impact! Have a great day!!! And tell me if you were able to actually put the to use!!!!
Hi, Sean K. m , could you tell me great tips for impromptu Speech group presentation as well. One of the tips is to have a same goal and to work well as a team. Any ideas/ tips ? Do you have tips for persuasive speech ? My topic is “ choose Forgiveness “ how do I able to persuade the audience to choose forgiveness. Do I have to share a little bit of my personal experience as you do about your mom drawing a smiley face on the car? I have given only 5-7 minutes presentation. For the impromptu speech as a group presentation is for next meeting. Thanks for quick response, Sean. I really appreciate you. I can use it in my presentation. Thanks a lot. Blessings to you 👍❤️😇
@@maryrus7493 To be persuasive address your audience and speak to them. Talk about their pain or struggles. Maybe discuss how we all at times can feel we are right and how we were did wrong. I felt this too, and I learned (tell story) that forgiveness not only as an option, it was the one thing that transformed me! I freed my heart from being in bitter judgement. i did it for me. (I'd start with the pain you share with the audience of NOT being forgiving. then talk about how you are just like them, and how you found finding forgivenss was the best for your life... (TEll a STORY) Just an idea! And group impromptu is same. Just Build on what you are other people say, It is the "Yes, and.." principle. You add on to whatever anyone else contributes. Never negate, always build. AND one last thing- try to use some type of "Image" like my story with the smiley faces. Try something visual image in their mind so they can picture it. An item, a person, something that is really visual and stays w people - a detail. hope it helps!
it's very helpful! thank you so much!
okay, so I have impromptu speech tomorrow, hope I'll do well by applying these tips!
your ears got all my attention. Thanks for the tips
