Scientists studying monkeys at a research station in the frozen Arctic. What could go wrong!? Let's just say these scientists have more to fear from these monkeys than just being bombarded with monkey poop!
Tangella nailed it! But first.... This is actually a pretty decent movie. Aside from the made-for-TV problems that can't be helped, it scared the living waffles out of me when I saw it as a kid. That ending, super creepy. It totally makes up for the aforementioned problems. Great show, love you guys! And YES Tangella. I was 13 and my parents had recently purchased a COLOR TV set. It used an antenna on the roof, that we could turn for tuning in different channels with a control. You always had some level of electronic snow, or static on screen. Cable was not in our area.
Never saw this movie before. A very intriguing story with a brilliant script and great acting by the 2 very professional old-time actors, Eli Wallach and Robert Culp, with a shockingly very weird and terrifying ending. Loved it.!!
Met Eli wallach in Lenox Massachusetts. He said he was happy to meet someone young that enjoyed his ancient movies and not just the good, bad and ugly.Said acting in small theater productions is what he enjoyed the most
I don't think I've seen this one. You find the best moldy oldies. Yeah the quality wasn't the best, but it was still a great watch. Thanks so much and fabulous guest! Kudos to Jackie Kong!!
Every time I here Eli Wallach speak brings me straight back to "Good, Bad Ugly"... "If you're going to shoot... shoot. Don't talk". This movie was a gem I'd never seen before. Thanks CF crew for making it happen!
I'm pretty easily entertained, but I couldn't sit through this movie, so I went in search of a video with Tangella speaking.........nothing. but I did find some fun field trips she took. She is a intriguing girl, and I'm glad you guys keep her away from the explosives and stuff. She is also a natural beauty despite her unnatural fascinations.
Yes, this movie is just like John Carpenter's The Thing, only with no subtext or paranoia or atmosphere or tension or great pacing or great set design or awesome special effects or interesting dialogue or good picture quality. The soundtrack is typical of TV horror movies of that era, by which I mean it gives the sensation of chewing broken glass. At least it has that wonderful 1970s color palette of white, black, tan, beige and brown, sometimes spiced up with a splash of battleship gray.
OUTSTANDING ! love this movie. I have 2 ragged "late nite KTLA " TV versions (from VHS ) of this "Made for Television " classic ! ... many thanks for the run!
Thank you so much for uploading, I watched it as a kid on German television and my bedroom door had a glass window...I was so afraid to see an ape looking at me😂 Never saw it again and I am so happy to watch it now!
Jackie is another guest I really enjoy. I wasn't able to make it last night for the premier, so a late hello to her. Interesting moving, and as for the intro...My ears hurt hearing "50 years ago" and "1970's" in the same sentence 😢
Quite possibly the finest frozen monkey movie ever made! (And I know of what I speak; one of my comics features a chimp with cold powers named Bananas Froster)🐵🥶 Be cool and go ape over this one!
@@troyhickman4904 Well, I am just going to say your students are lucky to have you as a professor! I am an educator as well, SPED High School. Hey! Does anyone else here remember a similar "made for TV movie" also set in an (presumably) isolated arctic outpost where the residence were seeing long dead loved ones who turned out to be invading aliens? Also from the 70's, saw it as a teenager and it scared the snot out of me!!! I would love to find it or at least the title. Thanks!
Is Robert Culp really buried in the area? He may have originally been buried there, but with Tangella's hobbies it may be prudent to check to see if he's still there.
I didn't buy Robert Culp sleeping without a shirt, under a flimsy sheet. Not when it's freezing cold out. Also, he tells Eli Wallach that the window was open, snow was blowing in and melting on the floor. They can't afford to keep those bases fully heated. I get the feeling that the writer didn't do a lot of research...
This movie was a bit boring but somehow relaxing to me. I miss the cold weather it's still hot here on Houston in September 2023. Jackie the director guest made a great monster movie called The Being.
Kurt Russell would have been 22 years old when this movie came out, 10 years later The Thing came out. I can see John Carpenter ideas for parts of The Things from this movie 🍿
Another made for TV from 1973. An old school slow burn thriller. This will be an interesting watch. The isolation & paranoia will grow...minute by minute. Who can be trusted?...lets find out on Saturday night...😮
Forgot to add a few things sorry, as for the Commando Motorcycle, the one that comes to mind for me. Is the Norton 750 Commando, it was fast and tough I know I had one of these beauties and I'm today a proud Baby Boomer from the 1950's.
When he says it was the voyage of the Damned, she says "Ooh I want to go" But When he says there were a lot of senior citizens she then goes on to say "Oh really" with genuine disgust 😂
Frankly, from the premise to the outcome there was no logical continuity and this movie made absolutely no sense. This horror mystery requires the patron to leave their brain at the door. Because if you think about it, it just hurts.

she was close, he rides a norton commando and he is co owner of Arch motorcycles, keanu talks about the norton commando in several interviews, its srsly his #1 bike, like blackie for clapton.
One of the best made-for-TV horror films from that golden era of the early-mid 70s. Looking forward to Saturday.

Wonderful. Great electronic music by Gil Mel.

This wasn't a bad film at all. It's biggest problem was pacing. It was way too dark in places but that was film-making in the 70's.
It should have ended much sooner.
Ending did.surprise me... Nice film

Awesome fun fact: Carpenter's The Thing was a remake of "The Thing From Another World" 1951!! Check it out!
The Thing is…this seems familiar.
The Chinese copied our movies and add a twist like Have sword will travel or once upon a time in Shanghai.
Despite the visual challenges I thought this was a really good film. Thank you all.

Interesting Brando story! 😁
I'm not sure I get it. Why does it go between the movie and this talk show?
It's an old concept, quite a few shows used to do it starting with Vampira in the late 50's.
To add to the tedium?
@@runlarryrun77 an old concept that I reckon has gone out of favor.
