I liked the black bear at 9:25. Between Tate and Clay Hill but I don’t remember that rock in that stretch. It looks more like Solitude. It’s weird that the river dropped 550 feet. I would expect it to always be higher at Agness with all the creeks between.
You are correct, the bear was at Solitude where we camped. We had hiked to Tate earlier in the day. Not sure what you mean about the flow. All mentions of the flow in the description are related to the Agness gauge and not two separate gauges, if that’s what you mean.
Great video. I’m taking my 12 year old son this summer in a double inflatable kayak. How bad is coffee pot rapid? Can you portage around it? I was a bit concerned with that rapid, narrowness, and rocky sides. Thanks.
I’ve only ran it in a raft. The rapid itself isn’t all that big but the eddy lines and currents could easily flip an IK without even hitting waves and it wouldn’t be a fun place to swim. Sometimes rafts and other craft gets spun around in there for a bit. Fortunately, all the trips I’ve been on were drama free. I’ve never really given much thought to portaging the rapid but my feeling is that once you enter Mule Creek Canyon you are committed to the rapid. There’s no obvious spot to stop and climb out.
@@skull465Got it. I’ve done trips in the 1200-2000 range. There’s rapids there, but I don’t think they are as pronounced as this. This higher level washes out a lot of rapids, but some places are more exciting for sure.
Awesome video!!! Thank you for not destroying it with horrible background noise
Glad you enjoyed it. I usually mute the audio when there’s music in other river videos I watch, so I just opt to leave it as is.
Beautiful footage. We did it many times and I fell in love with the Rogue each time. So beautiful.
It’s hard not to fall in love with it.
Really cool getting to watch the lines from the drivers seat . Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video Chris!
Thanks David. It was a great trip as usual down there.

Coffee Pot at 4500 cfs is a lot different than at 1500-2000cfs!
Chris....Your camera is so clear .....what is it that you use.....great video well done...
Thanks. This was filmed with a GoPro Hero 8 Black. “Lower” resolution at 1080 to extend the battery life and 60 fps.
Great video. We were on the river the 17 of june. Couple questions. What was the date of your trip and what size is your raft?
June 6th through the 9th. It’s a 14 ft raft. Usually on multi day trips I have my family on board but this one was to support kayakers.

i have been through it on a nice IK and just slid right through it. I just paddled pretty hard through the whole thing.
Am I imagining it or China bar looks way crazier at higher CFS?. All those large waves at 1500 cfs are non existent.
I’m not sure where China Bar rapids are. You’ll need to clue me in.
