    Looks like the boils and seams are more challenging than any rapids.

      Yeah that’s pretty typical there. Not really any rapids to speak of. At certain flows (don’t ask me which) Coffee Pot can be a little extra interesting. But my experience has been the biggest hazards are other boaters when they get bunched up too close together. I also saw that there is a new boat ripping rock at low water flows now somewhere in there. Haven’t heard much about it since the initial reports of several punctured boats in August of 2021.

      Great video. I’m taking my 12 year old son this summer in a double inflatable kayak. How bad is coffee pot rapid? Can you portage around it? I was a bit concerned with that rapid, narrowness, and rocky sides. Thanks.

    I wonder if this is as dangerous as The Strid in England for swimmers without life vests? The secondary currents descending in the middle of the channel are a bit ominous.

      I don’t think it has near the comparative reputation. However, it is well known by boaters as a place you don’t want to find yourself out of your boat, even with a pfd.
