  • After a turbulent trip back to Canada from Paris via Amsterdam, we kick off another adventure from...uh...Amsterdam, however this time to the Veneto region of Italy. We begin our trip in Padua (Padova), a major city 40 kms west of Venice. You may or may not heard of this city before, but what is it like? Find out as we discover one of the largest city squares in Europe - Prato della Valle and its transformation from a place for relaxation after a long trip into a bustling open air market!

Oh wow, you're out in the world already? For some reason I guess I thought you were taking a break and heading to a totally different part of Earth. But ok, hope you're not getting low on Schengen days.
Since I'm all about travel, I watched a tv show about Veneto earlier TODAY. There's an old school travel guy named Rick Steves that does public tv, do you guys get that? Anyway, great insights and visuals. I was very glad to see "regular people" at the market, I keep hearing that Northern Italy (well specifically Milan) are full of very fashion conscious folks. So it's nice to see in the regions like that, it's a little more easy going.

Yeah there are many fashion conscious folks in Italy (which is very cool, btw 😁), the vast majority of Italians probably dress the same way as people back home do. We do get Rick's show in Canada and where he lives is just 2 hours away by car on the American side of the border from where I'm based - so he is kind of famous especially among people from the Pacific Northwest. I found his shows & guidebooks generally very useful but sometimes could miss crucial information (i.e. he never filmed anything for Marseille, it appears!). The Veneto adventure will be shorter than the France series and I promise, that the one after Veneto will be on a totally different corner of the planet 😎

@@SayuRinpoche Oh great, glad you know about Rick! And have that novel connection. In the pre-youtube days, when I did my first traveling, I REALLY used to put him down because I thought his content was bland and not DEEP into things. But now that I'm about to head out-more or less permanently, and this time with a camera-I can see what I missed in his content before. Also glad to hear you're going out there into the less beaten paths.
