as someone who absolutely adores this song i wasn’t a big fan of all of the different types for this song but the halftime breakdown actually sounds really good and fits the song
I'm always guilty of being "the guy who's way too hyped" but the halftime breakdown and pop punk ones hold a special place in my heart. I sometimes play with my alma mater's pep band at hockey games and, given that we're a pretty good hockey school (currently the reigning NCAA DIII Men's National Champs), we usually win and play the fight song three times at the end of games. The first time through is a normal playthrough, albeit a bit faster than normal (aka "hockey tempo"); second time is just polka-esque tuba and drums while the rest of band sings the fight song; third time is when all hell breaks lose and I come out of the quiet second time with a halftime breakdown, switching halfway through to a pop punk double time beat to end it. It gets everyone so hyped and just makes the 2 hours of playing drums in the cold so worth it.
