What great videos and explained so well. I just bought a 1960 triumph thunderbird 6t, and when I start it,it can kick back hard. It does have electronic ignition, so your video was helpful, thanks. I will be watching more now I have found you.
Absolutely top-notch set of videos At 6:48 you use copper slip on the kickstart shaft. My understanding from way back to include bicycles is you do not lubricate Square tapers or a flat taper such as used to attach the kickstart cotter.
Great video. As a 35+ year HD mechanic, I found this to be very well laid out.1941 to 1984 big twin clutches were very similar. The primary chain adjuster is similar to the 1985 and newer Sportster. Adjustments are done the same way. People have a tendency to adjust them incorrectly.
Love the relaxed easy way in which this build has come together, an accomplished mechanic who is willing to pass on his knowledge. Next build? I’d like to se a Norton Dominator 99 cafe racer with higher bars for the older gentleman! Love the series so far.
Thanks for your nice comments. Not 100% sure on the next project, but we've got a few up our sleeve, hold tight! Thanks for your thoughts on next project too. It's nice to hear what people want to see.
Brilliant explanation of timing and the electronic set up versus points, I'm now much less mystified, Dave's thorough and careful approach to explaining things is both enlightening and entertaining right down to details such as how carefully one should nip bolts etc. Thankyou
Thanks for doing what you do on RUclips. I'm thinking of getting a BSA lighning & think I might be referring to your channel a bit. Hopefully not too many time hey 😁 Happy motoring people 👍
I continually look forward to this restoration on the BSA and now it is nearly completed, to fire it up. Very clear and precise presentation done perfectly on this restoration.. More please.
so did i what a piece of crap, under developed engine theres a book about b.s.a entitled you can go far or fast but not both. that thing is a couple of hundred quit at best.the fact its old does not make it good.
I'd love to see a 1968 Triumph build because this was the transaction year with many different thread styles. It would be nice to see where these changes were.
Another great episode Dave. We're all learning so much from this series and your excellent tutorial in each episode. As most have commented already, hope another series is to follow this one when it's complete.
I absolutely loved and looked forward to each episode so full of information that was delivered so well . I hope that you have another classic ready to build . Cheers for the video series mate .
Just subscribed-after having Triumph Tiger Cubs as a young man many years ago I'd love to see you go through a T20M. While many folks looked down on T20s I loved mine for the very same reasons that they looked down on them. Thanks!
Ou tell me how to adjust the primary chain on a 67 tiger, do you tighten the adjuster to get slack out. I know to remove plugs, and inspection plug on top of primary cover. Ill look for a loose or a tight spot by turning motor over a few times. But do i turn adjuster in to tighten it or back off. And i should have 3/8 play. I here something rattling in there, at idle. I thought at first it was valves but sounds coming from primary. Great videeo series you made im sure everyone appreciates your talents. Thank you from New York
Because of your excellent way of describing, explaning, showing etc. in such a way that non Mechs but with interest for such work, is soo good, I believe i'm right in assuming that you are/were a Mechanics Teacher? (plus a mention here for the 1st class camera work.., your wife?) Thanks Dave & ?, Greets from 🇨🇭, Steve.
Hey Millinutz, thanks for your really nice comments. We produce the videos with Dave and he just happens to be a really great explainer of things. Thanks for saying the camera work is good. I see you're in Switzerland (greetings!), how did you find out channel? Kind regards, Alex (the cameraman)
@@TheClassicMotorcycleChannel I started my biking life on BSAs many moons ago, and have ridden ever since. Being retired now, I would like to see out my biking "career" with a Beesa. Looking for an A65 T or L, +pref the US version), or even a B25 Starfire in running order! Greets Steve.
Hi Dave, I've got a 1971 Tiger 650 and for some reasons the clutch springs won't undo ! i have the special tool but a couple are so tight, Any ideas ? Thanks. Always enjoy your videos, Where in East Sussex are you ?
What final gearing do you ride with, is it a stock ratio? I have changed riding habits over years. Now I go for a taller gear ride up to speed having lower cruise rpm and love it. I almost think the motor and gear box does too!
Ah the ol half link. I have the same bad feeling about having multiple master links and half links, but I've had them on all my bikes and never had an issue. Maybe it's not as big a concern as we think?
If you'd like to watch the entire series in a playlist, here's the link ruclips.net/p/PLLaaC3JrqSLAHvKe2Z5jSDY4Dp5EZqFOs
Beautiful bike, beautifully restored, beautifully explained. Who could ask for more? Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it Bill and thanks for your nice comments!

What a great series of videos, it will be sad when it's over. Though I can't wait to see it come to life.
Right on Joel, cheers for your nice comments, first start is coming up! We're really looking forward to it!

Fantastic series, loved every minute of it. What bike are you going to do in the next series??.
Hey Coobye, not 100% sure yet. Dave's got a few interesting ideas but we haven't hung our hat on anything as yet :)
Bit surprised to see you fitted a Li battery. Not sure the a65 would benefit but then its probably less sensitive to their downsides as well.
What final gearing do you ride with, is it a stock ratio? I have changed riding habits over years. Now I go for a taller gear ride up to speed having lower cruise rpm and love it. I almost think the motor and gear box does too!

I always safety wire my master links. That way you never have to worry about them coming off.
It looks cold in there, you can plainly see the vapour from Dave's breath.
Part 12 was the coldest at minus 5C
Focused close-ups and lighting on a mechanic's how-to video? That's unheard of.
i am sorry but when you say fred instead of thread it makes me 🤣 anyway i am enjoying the build 👍
... he's giving you all that great advice and you are commenting on his pronounciation, come on, you can be more generous than that.
@@cbpaton53 i also gave him a thumbs up or as he would say fums up 👍😜

Love watching these videos. However, please get rid of those blue crimp on connectors. They don't belong on any motorcycle any where.
maybe a BMW r80 /7 /100T 78/79 ?
That went way too fast😀
Hey Sam, thanks for watching, editing not too quick?
