You are correct. I screwed it up. On the receiver tab in betaflight there is a place to select rssi on a channel. Put in aux 4 then it will work in the osd.
This helped a lot, I was trying to read data off a Diversity Rx Module with a microcontroller, and I realized watching you do the output map that I had an output map error, chalk it up to fat fingers I guess lol Thanks for the video.
You should try using a unify pro with crossfire, if you wire up its smart audio to the last pin on the rx and set it as smart audio in the lua script on the rx (CH 6 I think), you can control every aspect of the vtx through the lua script on your taranis, it's soooo nice!!
benii this is true! I just love all the features that crossfire packs. I've yet to have a failsafe with crossfire, even flying 3 miles out with the micro tx. I have flown just as far with frsky but it was much more sketchy.
@@WX4CB Ooooooohhhhhh!!!! Ok. That's why my rssi reads 0 when I arm. Can't wait to try it out now! Thanks! I came to this video specifically for that information.
I'm using a omnibus f4 FC . Having a lot of trouble maybe you can help with this. I have the full size tx like yours have it set up per your video. Have the micro v2 set up per your video. Have the latest tbs update well as of couple of weeks. BFF 2.21. When in rx tab elevator aileron and throttle all move on throttle stick. elevator and aileron stick does nothing. Oh taranis x9d. Tried to update per a JB video. Not sure if it is right or not but didn't change the way the CRSF is acting. Any help would be great.
Also, great topic. I'm sort of glad that CrossFire is finally catching on because it's awesome, but a little nervous what is going to happen at FliteFest and the like now that EVERYONE is using it...
I've followed your steps to the T and I'm still not getting any "movement" within BF Receiver tab. Properly wired up Rx -> Tx & Tx -> Rx on UART4. Enabled Serial Rx on UART4 within BF. Receiver is bound. BF configuration tab is configured for CRSF. Funny thing is I upgraded to 3.4 a few months back and initially had the same issue, but after messing around with the Channel Map (just swapping it by accident) I got it working. Now I just upgraded my FC to 3.5 and I'm back to square 1. No wires were changed. Any thoughts? Taranis Crossfire Nano Matek F405-CTR
Josh Cowley hi. Did you manage to resolve it? Would like to learn from your experience. Because I’m encountering that right now. Any tips is appreciated.
Set mine up and was getting short range . Found out i had it set to 1 mw.. changed it but still short range.. read us frequency is 915hz.. i changed it from 868 to 915 but dont see the reciever now. Do i have to bind it again?
Thanks for the video. I have question my receiver is Refused to bind or to updated after i updated the TX firmware. And i followed all what you did with tours but i when i push the blue flashing light it just turn to blinking orange color . Do you have any idea what went wrong please?
Please help, i'm not getting any movement on the channels in betaflight. My T q x7 is also flashing in and out of full bars. Doe that mean I have a problem?
Is there a comparison between the crossfire module you have and the crossfire micro module? Apart from the rear screen and size, are there any advantages to either?
Great video Stingy. But what is the best way of setting failsafe with the micro TX lua script? there are two options. Either set with stick position on the TX, or ‘cut’ on the RX. Seems they cannot be combined, so I have to choose either or.
I had to go into the Power and Batter tab in betaflight and select on-board ADC for voltage meter source and current meter source to get mine to work due to stock setting is to get telemetry from ESC sensor. but I did run my receiver off of UART3. maybe that had something to do with it.
I would like to take the Crossfire for my Taranis Qx7, but I know there are problems. Would you give a video to explain (if it were possible) how to set it up to make it work properly? Greetings from Italy ;)
Could you please tell me which Crossfire is better "the Micro" or the "Crossfire TX Lite" which looks like it uses an external battery with XT30. Price is not the issue, which one is better and more future proof.
the best would be the full on non light version which also allows you to use an app on your phone. the tx light version has Bluetooth removed but still allows an external battery pack so it can run high output power without depletion of the remote tx internal battery and the micro is the most compact and just plugs into the JR port in the back of the remote, it will only output 250 mw which has been more than enough for me. it is configured via Lua script and is easy to use. just lower output power and more compact size with out anything hanging out the rear of the remote. If I was to do it again I would get the full size unit cause it has the external battery, Bluetooth and all functionality plus higher output power and the screen built in but the micro does fine for any distance I can fly on my 5 inch, the limiting thing is my vtx and battery life on the quad now not the tx.
it's all done in betaflight, you need to setup the outputs on your x10 as well but it's super easy, watch Bardwell he has videos explaining it. look up Bardwell open TX
Stingy, I did everything you have done and my reciever is bound to the crossfire but for some reason Im not getting any inpunts on the quad. Do you have any idea what it might be?
I'd start by checking the inputs and outputs on the Crossfire itself. But it could be several things. Chase the signal from the sticks to the FC and try to find the failure.
Troubleshoot Help. Might help someone... I've followed the video in every step, but in betaflight the receiver tab won't receive any inputs. I've tried different channel maps, also changed 3 different UARTS and none of them work. The crossfire binds all green lights but just won't receive on the flight controller. I'm using a Matek F405 CTR Any help is appreciated!
Hey SingersSwarm just letting you know I fixed my problem. My nano receiver the solder was to thick on the bottom side of the nano causing continuity between GND and CH1 so re-did all the soldering and its working perfect! Thanks for help and really appreciate your videos without guys like you we'd all be stuck.
Awesome video! I love that I will have a great library of videos to help me in the future! I can't wait to get crossfire! I never push myself because I'm scared of Failsafes. I've lost too many QWAD's already... Lol MORE VIDEOS! MORE VIDEOS! MORE VIDEOS!
I have two quads set up with crossfire, micro tx and micro v2 receivers, One on a betaflight f3 board and one on a betaflight f4 board. Both are wired exactly the same and set up the same in crossfire and betaflight. I cannot get any battery (voltage/amp/mah, etc.) telemetry to come through on the taranis or the osd on the bff4 setup but I get all other telemetry (LQ, etc). I do get all telemetry on the bff3 board and the firmware on both the FC and TX/RX are the same . Also, I am running crsf on TX1/RX1 on both. Anyone ideas to try and get it working on the f4?
Hey stingy , thanx for the concise info you give , would love to see more instructional videos you have a good broad way of getting us to understand! :-) cheers m8888
great video!🔥 Gotta make another video on how the build in "spectrum analyzer" works there is 0 None Zero videos on how it works and how to interpret it or find it.🤔
Snafu Snafuedem I had the same issue. This is what I did. set your channel map on port 8 to LQ. Enable dynamic power. On betaflight, on your receiver tab make sure you select port 8. Hope that helps. If not let me know.
Nice analogy with the baseball. Rx Tx It would be nice to be able to buy receivers. Says not till February!!! What???? I have a bunch of quads I want to put it on.
You are correct. I screwed it up. On the receiver tab in betaflight there is a place to select rssi on a channel. Put in aux 4 then it will work in the osd.
i couldnt figure out why my rssi was zero, i had to turn on the telemetry tab in config. thanks past stingy!
Thanks buddy i just got a x12s and full size crossfire i switched from spektrum after using it for 8 years on helis i was tired of brown outs
Yessssss thank you so much. I’ve been trying to set up my new quad for over 2 hours. So much easier to understand then the other vids I watched!
You forgot to show the rssi on aux 4 to get it on the osd. And to add rssi on the osd screen. Glad to see you back. Missed your videos.

Stingy! Missed you, welcome back, more vids needed!!
Trying to upload now.
Dude, the beard fits you well... saw this video and was like "who dis?" - Keep up the good work!
Sthingy is BACK!!
You going to start putting more videos out? Kinda missed the video a day for December like last year😑.
I'm thinking about going daily again. We will see.

Did everything you did. It’s bound light is solid green I have telemetry but receiver isn’t working on betaflight
one thing you forgot to mention is that your RSSI channel setup on Aux 4 is done in the receivers tab :D
Thanks yeah I missed that. I don't know how I didn't notice while editing.
How to display the RSSI/LQ on the Betaflight osd might also be a good idea. it could help out ppl that have never messed with an OSD before. ;)
he has it setup on channel 8, which in betaflight will be aux 4. 9 is aux 5 etc.
@@WX4CB Ooooooohhhhhh!!!! Ok. That's why my rssi reads 0 when I arm. Can't wait to try it out now! Thanks! I came to this video specifically for that information.

Thanks Kevin, I have one Kwad on CF, but am just putting a BF F4 into another frame with CF.

I have no stick movements with my tango 2 and a nano rx diversity. I also tried reverse the wiring and so forth but no signal Uart 2 is set also..
"Thanks and bye" *nooooooo*
Great video man, been missing your face lately!
Hey kevin how come you have esc telemetry on if crossfire already does it all? Thanks!
Have you ever used the Crossfire "locate" mode to find a lost model, what receiver or other components are required for that to function.
Is there any mod for DC input battery voltage???
What size external battery to use on full size crossfire? 3s 1000mah?
None anymore. I’m using a nirvana and the internal battery.
Thanks for the video. I have question my receiver is Refused to bind or to updated after i updated the TX firmware. And i followed all what you did with tours but i when i push the blue flashing light it just turn to blinking orange color . Do you have any idea what went wrong please?

tbs crossfire update fireware without antenna, will it be broken?
Is there a comparison between the crossfire module you have and the crossfire micro module? Apart from the rear screen and size, are there any advantages to either?
You Sir! You just saved my day!
Hi thank so much great video . I have a question please . Can I still use frsky sbus receiver even I have TBS module in my taranis radio?
sure if you setup a model in your radio that has the external tx disabled and the internal tx enabled and set to 8 or 16 and bound to the frsky Rx
Great video Stingy. But what is the best way of setting failsafe with the micro TX lua script? there are two options. Either set with stick position on the TX, or ‘cut’ on the RX. Seems they cannot be combined, so I have to choose either or.
Use cut.
Hey guy's
That looks great. Can you make the same video with the matek f405 board?
wished you mention how to set up telementry if your not running ESC telementry on Betaflight F4 board and using crossfire.
It is the same. Esc telemetry doesn't effect the RX telemetry.
I had to go into the Power and Batter tab in betaflight and select on-board ADC for voltage meter source and current meter source to get mine to work due to stock setting is to get telemetry from ESC sensor. but I did run my receiver off of UART3. maybe that had something to do with it.

Already did it. It was two or three videos ago. Check it out.
Forgive me, it must have escaped me !! I'll look straight away ;)
No big deal. Glad I had what you needed.
When using the full size crossfire like yours do you need to mod the Frsky X7 ? Thx stingy
LOL when Stingy was still a bald faced buck 😎 Thanks for the help brother!
How to setup arm switches for Crossfire?
Could you please tell me which Crossfire is better "the Micro" or the "Crossfire TX Lite" which looks like it uses an external battery with XT30. Price is not the issue, which one is better and more future proof.

Great info man i would really want to get a crossfire i have a qx7 so that is almost a necessity lol right??
Haha it is a very nice add on.
StingersSwarm. How much father could i fly?? I am so scared to fly far away because i don't want to lose another quad lol
I clicked on this just for the stash.
came away with good info
What size lipo is that you are using for external power?
I have a 1000mah 3s
How long have you been using the crossfire and does it make a huge difference flying Bandos or the office complex your always fly ?
IDK about 6 months. Not really a huge range difference but latency is much better.
StingersSwarm you mean latency on controls from what you see on video ? Is it worth it for a newcomer to hobby to get the crossfire ?
i have a FrSky X10,, need a little help setting up arming an motor kill
it's all done in betaflight, you need to setup the outputs on your x10 as well but it's super easy, watch Bardwell he has videos explaining it. look up Bardwell open TX

I'd start by checking the inputs and outputs on the Crossfire itself. But it could be several things. Chase the signal from the sticks to the FC and try to find the failure.
best video, to the point. 5 stars
how did you set up arming
in betaflight under modes tab after setting up the output channels in open tx
You can see your gears turning really hard @4:37; must have rewatched that part 10 times, hilarious!
Hey stingy what battery is powering your fullsize tx?
seems a turnigy nanotech 3s 1000mah

You also have to map the outputs on the crossfire to CRSF. Set the protocol to CRSF and check that it is wired correctly.
StingersSwarm thanks for the reply. Yep fine all that. I've got a ticket with tbs going. So will pay an update when it gets fixed.
Hey SingersSwarm just letting you know I fixed my problem. thank you Kiven so much that was nice and fast info
How do you place the receiver antenna in your quad? Thanks!
Check out the live build video I did and you can see just how I did it.
Can you not use lua scripts with the x10 and full size crossfire? Mine just keeps saying "waiting for crossfire devices..."
Did you slow down the baudrate to get talemity to work on the x10?
Did you do the internal mod?
does this work only on micro rx v2? or does it work on micro rx v1, cause odviously your wiring is different and output mapping is differnet
The only difference is with the V1 you can't do telemetry.
StingersSwarm got it.. I got rssi, I can live with out telemetry
You helped me! Thanks! 😀
are the betaflight 32bit esc anygood. not really seen many people using them.
I think they are great. I haven't had any issues and they fly great.
cool will be upgrading to them when i upgrade to the new F4 betaflight board:)
God vid. great as I am wanting to get tbs crossfire
Thanks

dahosfpv hi there. Did you find out what caused it? Would appreciate if you could share your findings and solution.
Some flux would do wonders for your soldering. It's like magic!

got crossfire working but no lua script on IRC tramp vtx
how?
so u used full sized crossfire and figured out how to just not use lua script?
plz explain!
awesome video!
My quad flys great but my telemetry doesnt seem to work. Always says 22
Snafu Snafuedem I had the same issue. This is what I did. set your channel map on port 8 to LQ. Enable dynamic power. On betaflight, on your receiver tab make sure you select port 8. Hope that helps. If not let me know.
I have same issue and tried this, still doesn't work.
Ill try that when I get home. THANKYOU!!
It didnt work ;-( Just says zero now. I change it to channel 8 in beta flight too

Thanks, an! Was very clear!
Betaflight configurator 3.2.2 ? You are in 2107 !
Here, in 2018, we have the 10.0.0 !
I assume you made this video few weeks ago.
Nice vid. 1 minus point though , you mentionned aux 4 in the beginning but after that you fergot about it...
You are correct. I screwed it up. On the receiver tab in betaflight there is a place to select rssi on a channel. Put in aux 4 then it will work in the osd.

anyway keep it coming, i love your vids
