Max vs lewis is now already an iconic rivalry. I’m so so so happy that we’ve final had more battles between them.
I love both lewis and max but most of all I’m a fan of great racing snd that’s why I watch f1. In a time of such toxic fanboyism, I’m just glad everyone else is able to enjoy such great battles between 2 obviously incredible drivers

2019 is an underrated season, where Lewis, Max, Charles, and Sebastian were often battling.
Unfortunally Ferrari had to cheat for it.

To me, it's just like those comments by bots on Instagram who say 'First comment. Ok well done, now move away for better teams. I couldn't believe the toxic environment Seb was dealing with (not going to spoil Drive to Survive) but I feel bad for Charles & Carlos already.

Verstappen is the best thing F1 could happen. In this hybrid era Hamilton never had a real rival. Now Verstappen challenges Hamilton hard with a car which is not as fast as the Mercedes. It's a pleasure to see these fights.
I think thats one of the reasons Hamilton is considering retirement. That 8th title was his for the taking this year with next year being a complete unknown and Verstapen shut that down.
Except the red bull has also had the fastest car at almost half the races this season and the best handling for most of it. Not trying to take away from Verstappen he is incredible but this whole red bull are in a slower car this is just not true
Must agree with Bean Boy. Redbulls amazing front end with a nice back end which don't roar when you kick it out has been amazing for Verstappen and his race style. We don't know how that style will be affected next season. We will have to see which driver the next era suits best. Probably not Hamilton.

Lewis and Max are more alike than people notice. Lewis might be a little bit older and a little bit more restraint but they both are the bravest drivers on the grid, especially when it comes to holding their ground when under attack. attacking when you know you have the advantage, DRS or a tow, is one thing but standing your ground against a car that has both on you on a long corner is a completely different ball game and these 2 drivers are among a few who were able to do it in history...

@connor7162 I think modern day lewis is different younger lewis is very similar to current max super young aggressive driver. Lewis become more passive as he got older, matured and also had a faster car imo as a lewis fan

If you want to blame max for the whole incident go ahead but its an open shut case. Lewis either should of backed out or attacked it more, not hesitate like he has done in Austria and brazil.

Australia 2015. Hamilton was not able to pass Max on the Toro Rosso. That was their 1st duel but the media hides it so people can keep admiring Hamilton
I think lewis and max's driving styles comment each other well. Max is an aggressive but still accurate driver lewis is calm and composed and very consistent and it makes for amazing racing when the redbull can actually keep up.i hope for closer racing this year tbh.
Lewis is too calm and calculating at times. He needs to wipe the crashtappen days out of his mind and not be afraid of closer wheel to wheel combat. Both of the collisions in this video was caused by Max, but can't avoid getting close to him forever. If it's a title fight between the two, let Max collide, and 50/50 he will come off worse, and the non-collisions will then favour Lewis more.

@@tonyhawk123 That Monaco tap was just a do or die, because for Verstappen these last few years the GP wins are the only thing he can fight for. He was never close enough in the championship to fight Mercedes, but always far ahead of his teammates and Ferrari in 2020.
It's much easier to look consistent when you have the best car on the park by far for years..

Wouldnt agree with that. 2017 was not a year of making mistakes, but fell too much of a victim to unreliability (and every DNF, he was considerable far in front of his teammate Ricciardo). So to rectify:
2017: Dealing with many DNFs
beginning 2018: Learning from mistakes
after monaco 2018: More mature driving and defeating his teammate fair.

In 2018 Ricciardo had 8 mechanical DNFs and started some races from last too, so I wouldn't say Verstappen defeated Ricciardo fairly. Ricciardo couldn't even fight due to his car

But honestly, having watched all these races live, having the faster car, better strategy, having less to loose or narrow circuit made the winner not some special skill save monaco 2019. Fans dream of equal cars wheel to wheel battle but I don't expect much of it cos teams actually try to avoid it. Equal cars don't make wheel to wheel battles; strategy error and other unforeseen circumstances do.

@@smallduties8897 It was actually against the rules what Hamilton was doing, they just weren't regulating it untill the middle of the race when Red Bull reported it. After that Hamilton stopped doing it but it still gave Hamilton alot of time. Also, Verstappens overtake was completely fine even though he had to give it back. Verstappen went off the track, but he was already infront by quarter of a car lenght when he went off. The overtake was technically already complete but the stewards ruined it yet again. (If you think im biased towards Verstappen, even Lando Norris tried to prove this but nothing really happened afterwards)
Verstappen has done much better in these tussles than I remembered. Some great defensive moves in a weaker car. Forza Max for 2021

If you are seriously suggesting that the 2018 and 2019 Mercedes was NOT an overall stronger package than the Red Bull of those seasons, then you get a minus mark for objectivity, never mind a 0.
Only because if you try and overtake him, he'll push you off or crash into you. You've got to protect the car so have to back off.

Huh..caving? Lewis has won 3 out of the last 4 races thus far, the best start of his F1 career and if he keeps it up..well it clearly demonstrates that Lewis is resilient under pressure and 'caving' is not in his mentality.

Verstappen's defense and overtaking style reminds me so much of Senna's. Hes trying to do his best to put himself in a position where the other driver either has to back off because it would lead to a crash, or it does lead to a crash when neither is willing to back off. That wasn't the best side of Senna either. Max matured a lot though, but he still does these things which could cost him championships in the future.
I think that he's learned a lot. This was especially visible in the way he approached situations on lap 1, last year. He regularly backed off, if just going for it was too risky. But, yes, in many ways he is like Senna. What a lot of people don't seem to remember is, that Senna, like Max, was absolutely ruthless in the way he raced. And, like Senna, whenever Max gets on the tail of someone, he immediately challenges them: pushing them, making himself visible in their mirrors, looking for the angle, etc. Lets hope that the RB16B really is on par - or close, at least - with the W12 from the start, so we can get the WDC fight we've been hoping for for so long!

The US GP battle in 2018 was one of the moments got me off the sofa ... that was epic battling for the title!
They were not battling for the title, not even for the win! Max was not in contention for the title, has never been, until this year hopefully

@@GeorgeMattock ‘They’ were battling for ‘his title’ funny. Btw I was lucky I witnessed it live, happened right in front of me sat at Turn 15 in Austin. The fight started from T13, and went all the way to T17. The crowd was on their feet throughout. Remember it as if it happened yesterday.

You can see how amazing Max is vs Lewis. That mercedes is incredibly powerful. That mercedes is otherworldly. What Max did with that inferior Red Bull is a miracle! Can you imagine if Max was in the that Mercedes?!!!! Congrats World Champion!!

@@guilhermesamuel1648 Well, I just watched all of the qualifying sessions in 2021, and Mercedes and Red Bull were pretty much even. As a Max fan, I do believe Max had the better car at the beginning, but the pace difference was not that much. Don't forget Mercedes won 3 out of the first 4 races.
At the end though, Mercedes had the superior car in the races. I mean, it is not visible in the qualifying sessions, but the race pace of the Mercedes was just outstanding and in the hand of LH, it was unbeatable.
Don't forget, because of bad luck, 3 of the races which Max had the faster car, he did not finish.
All I say is, Max was almost overtaken by Lewis on 40 lap aged hard tyres and he was on 2 lap aged softs😂.
@@sinamf5890 Mercedes won the constructors championship and I rate Perez higher than Bottas. Seeing the gap between Perez and Max I think that Red Bull were inferior on most tracks and after the Silverstone updates, Mercedes were clearly ahead. Even in Mexico in qualy they were 1-2 and Max won that with that great start. On fast tracks Mercedes was miles ahead because of the more powerful engine. Max did wonders with that car.
