- We’d like to take you on an updated tour of our 1973 Nauticat 38' massive refit project. This is some extreme DIY stuff, man.
Tune in to see the boat as it stands (in our driveway), the work we've completed & the work we're about to tackle!

Loved the detailed tour and family introduction. Very much enjoying your video content, instruction, thought processes all along with some humor. You all are amazing! Keep up the great work!
Thanks Judy! We really enjoyed putting this together and all had a lot of fun along the way. Glad you enjoyed it 😊
I love your boat and your dry humor.
Thanks!! We’ll keep doing our thing- stayin’ dry for ya!
How great, we love Nauticat. Thanks for the great tour, it's quite interesting. I love the idea with the galley in the pilothouse.
We’re loving ours too! The galley is the next space we have to tackle- hoping it turns out as planned 🤞
Great job you two. Nice keeping outtakes at the end. Forcing all those out there to not skip past the ending. ;) "just like everybody else out there, but better". Damn right you are! :)
Thanks! Oh man was it difficult to narrow down the blooper reel... I swear! We had too much fun with this lol
New to your site. Great presentation, will need to catch up.
Thanks! We have quite a bit for you ahead! 😉
Looking forward to your great adventure and future videos keep smiling Cheers from Downunder.
Thank you so much!! Getting closer every day. 🤞⛵️
Boat is interesting. Need to read up on it. Good luck guys!
Thanks! Yeah it should look a lot different (and more interesting) when we’re all done 🤞
Holy smokes you did that in Revit! That's awesome! I was just thinking to my self how cool it would be to 3D laser scan the boat and create a point cloud.
I did! And it was a b*tch so I Wouldn’t recommend it 😂 - gave me a lot of fits on those contours and hosting certain objects. I wish I knew SolidWorks better, I have a few engineering friends who say that’s the way to go.
@@ChrisandKellNowHere yes I agree that SolidWorks would probably have been easier. Still impressive! Subscribed!
Such a cool boat! I love the idea of moving the galley up. I just found your channel and love your personalities. I appreciate some good sarcasm. Great job and keep the videos coming!
Thanks Brad! We’re really excited about transforming that space, as daunting as it seems. We think it’ll be really cool to have everything up there in the pilot house and keep the saloon free as a work space and for guests!
@@ChrisandKellNowHere As live aboards i would think a nice comfortable lounge space would be essential. I was in the Navy and the biggest annoyance was the lack of any comfortable chair lol.
@@bradtaylor6415 we do have a cool design for a swingin’ captains chair but it hasn’t been fully developed yet lol we definitely want to be comfortable in this boat which is exactly why the entire aft cabin is basically a giant bed lol. Chris made me compromise on a queen when I had a king mattress before... so now I finally get my mega bed back!
Love you guys from Australia
Dawe, thanks!!
Hi guys, just found the channel and subscribed
Cheers from Australia
Thanks!! We so appreciate you subscribing! Hope you enjoy. Cheers 🍻
Also look at wrap instead of anti foul you can do it yourself Feel the Breeze Family just had it done save money also very effective
Funny you should mention that! We saw that at the Seattle boat show earlier this year and have been considering it... one of the biggest appeals of that particular vendor was that you could have a completely custom design made.
The O Kelly's just got back to me they really like there wrap you could reach out to them
great tour! Have you looked at the Sirius yacht layouts? they have somewhat a similar saloon/galley/pilothouse arrangement (their site doesn't mention their allowances for sneaking men aboard, but I'm sure it is possible :p )
Thanks! And yes actually- We had the opportunity to tour a few of the newer designs early on this year at the Seattle boat show. I would imagine man hatches would be a strong selling point for some 🤔🤪
Don't ever stop using the toot.
What does that mean?!?
What's the axis of roll impact of moving the galley equipment weight to the pilot house?
Obviously we don't have the data, but I would guess as close to zero as you can get. Many other Pilot House sailboats have their galleys up, and the increase in weight after removing the old furniture and adding the new appliances can't be much over 100 lbs even full of food.
I love your refit so far! How did you transport her and if it's not too personal how much did it cost to transport?
On a special hydraulic trailer, and it costs a lot! for a couple of reasons: there's a bit of a monopoly here, and those trailers are extremely expensive.. like seven figures new.
I want to say it was $2,000 to have it moved from the boat yard to our driveway, and it'll probably be about the same to take it to the place that'll put it back in the water, but we're not quite there yet.
Nice show I might suggest on demand hot water system their very effective and draw only 30 amps. Ahoymateyarrr
Thanks Denny! We’ll definitely be looking into that. We are also considering some kind of coiled solar hot water source for above deck. Thinking it would be a luxury item but if we can find the space, it’ll be pretty sweet to have on board.
@@ChrisandKellNowHere I would suggest the unit that you just screw on to your shower head hot water for 25 MN then it shuts down to cool down
That’s a thing?! Sounds awesome.
Hi guys I'm looking for cheoy Lee ketch project is okay to if you know any please let me know thanks 👍🙏
Looking for a project boat? We’ll keep our eyes open!
@@ChrisandKellNowHere thanks so much ❤️
So your boat has a sun roof, and a spoiler, and a big motor...
Damn straight.... And it goes low and slow
Your a long way off the water and big money to get there good luck
🐢💰 yeah, it’s a lot of work for sure! Fortunately, despite COVID, we’ve been able to both hold down our jobs and have a steady cash flow. Our actual jobs are a bit of a time suck though 😜
In all honesty, we’re really lucky to have the set up we have to be able to do this.
Nothing a 100k won’t fix its cheeper to buy a boat and freshen it up and go , we live on a 65 ft we built and twice around the globe , these channels you See , tripping around the world are a joke with out the patron cash input. most are going no where except a holiday on others , non of them make the Panama or even can afford to pay the crossing fees so good luck being inline with the rest we can watch and pass on if listened to our real experiences
Would love to hear your experiences; no sense reinventing the wheel!
Wow I just found you yesterday,I got a lot of catching up 🫤
DO NOT remove the mast support in the saloon
Michael No plans to remove it, we are relocating it so it’s centered under the mast boot. At present it is aft of the mast and uses an I-beam in conjunction with a bulkhead for support.
Intersting boat, but irritating video. More like an audition for a movie than a boat refit.
I'd call it an introduction to us and our project, M. The refit is ongoing in our subsequent videos.
