We have a local business spur accessed across a road crossing. The locomotive will sound the horn on first approach, but then performs the pick up/drop off shunt without further applications of the horn.

The waypoints handling coupling too has made single player life much more comfortable.
It would be interesting for you to have a video (now that you’ve been playing since the initial release) about what you might have done differently if you were starting over again now that there have been so many updates and changes in the game
Some railroads, the older ownership of the line I work, didn’t sound the horn/whistle if we had a conductor/brakemen/switchman/trainmen/take your pick, on the ground at a crossing at ten mph or less. This is allowed under operating rules and helps save ears.
I've been enjoying the new waypoint mode. Its nice to not have to fiddle around with switches all the time when I'm using the AI to help me switch out a yard. The other awesome case for it is to have multiple trains running down the mainline and have them be able to diverge and stop at different destinations without having to babysit the switches.
I like the new waypoints now if they could make it you could add more then one and pick what cars to grab and drop off would make switching more the one train at a time so much more easy but as it is rn is grate for braking down trains or dropping off cars that are going to the same spot
I love the waypoint system but it's tricky to use when double-heading. Longest waypoint run I've done so far is 30 miles and it works well enough switching on its own.
I’ve had this issue too even though I’ve manually set the points to not allow it to happen. The two engineers end up fighting over the switches if they’re too close so I’ve had to end the waypoint to stop them fighting me
I have been using the way point system for across map things. I turn the switch board on for the meets and then turn it back off after they pass each other. It has been working just fine.
Need to fix motion jitters. New stuff is nice but old stuff not up to snuff. If the one man development team had the jitters problem I bet it would get attention, pronto!
Seems to me that the waypoint you set is where you want the locomotive to end up. So when you dropped off the stenzil return car it went to the east signal, but when you put the stenzil cars back it stopped early because it couldn't reach the waypoint you set - because end of the track and cars in the way.
No, the waypoint is where you want the facing end of the train to end up. I've used this mode a lot since it came out, but I need to do some testing with the signals. When watching back I noticed the arrow snapped to the signal position so there may be some significance there. Thanks for watching!
@@KerboOnYT Maybe it makes sense to have a command to bring the entire train past a signal or past a switch. But maybe it needs to be communicated a little better, like by the arrow looking a bit different (otherwise it's like those aviation incidents involving pilots mistaking what the autopilot would do if given a certain command in the particular circumstances).
If one is just playing single player is there any real advantage to the signals? I don't love the idea of having to fiddle with signals if they don't really make single player any easier.
They can prevent a train from running into an open switch and stuff like that. It's saved me a few times when I had a train running on the other side of the map and forgot to line a switch.
But on the other hand, signals get annoying when you want to line straight into some siding from the next town (and go manage 2 other trains in the meantime). Proceed with caution
I've been loving the waypoint system. Cuts down my switching time by 60%. Also makes it easier to run multiple trains.
Just downloaded Railroader last night. Had a great time with it! FYI . . . Tater Tots are katnip for fat guys! ;)

"Wood chips don't have a texture yet"
Now that aged quickly :)

Thanks for the video. Gave me a good idea how this works and what a time saver it can be.

i am really liking this waypoint add it really easy to do switching and i can be doing something in the other loco
I guess it’s time to fire Albert Inman and hire Albert Enman.

Now they just need to work out automated sidings to avoid trains having face 2 face meet ups.

Thanks for showing this feature a bit more detailed! The signaling is on CTC, isn't it?
I have my signals set on ABS most of the time.

... or maybe it's still a work in progress 😁

I have this game on steam but don't see the way point option for the engineer? How to i update the game for this?
As mentioned in the video this is on the experimental branch. Check Steam announcements for info and warnings about saves.

Why don't I have any options for waypoint in my game?
This feature is on the beta branch. See the Steam announcements for details on opting in and backing up your saves.
