As a Swede I think that she has a good voice but I don't like our national anthem being altered the way she does - changing some notes here and there. I prefer the "standard" version any day.
Her version always makes me cry because it reminds me of how much our society and land has changed. Not all for the better and I miss the Sweden I knew growing up
100% agree, Sweden used to be a place where we helped and cared for each other. But for the last few decades it has become much more of a selfish place where hate is wildly rampant. Wish we could go back to the ideals we had then, when hate wasn't in control. 😢
Definitely, ever since the late 80s when a former Nazi officer and some hard-core racists founded SD, the Sweden Democrats, Sweden has become a much less friendly country. They got 20% of the votes in the last election.
Her wordless song is called ”kulning”, to kula. When summer came, the shepherdesses and their cattle were set free in the forest to fatten up the cows and have them deliver the calves. The kulning was used to gather the cows for milking. Beautiful.
As a Swede I really loved this! Have not heard it before so thank you for reacting to it. She changed the melody a bit making it sound hauntingly beautiful. Magical. I will take a look at her channel to hear more of her beautiful voice 💙💛🇸🇪

This is how real Swedish music sounds like. There is so much beauty in that somber yet loving light feeling. It leaves you completely speechless and I love that you got to experience what it is to be swedish like this. We're a mix of both darkness and light up here. This is how it supposed to feel like. Which also makes me so annoyed when people like that Peyton guy makes music and calls it norse or viking when he havent understood at all what it is to be us.

”Du gamla du fria” is a song about how beutifull the nordic is. In the main verse it don’t even mention Sweden only the nordic. The beauty of the lands we live on
She blows me away, i found her video back when she was kulning to her cows. Her talent is remarkable. I can't describe the feeling of nostalgia yet a longing i get listening to her, yet its also very reminiscent of something that the elves would sing in Lord of The Rings. Truly beautiful, just love me some Jonna and i love your channel, just subbed! 🙏❤ 🦋
Woohoo! I'm so glad you decided to react to Jonna. I'm really proud of our national anthem for celebrating nature while many anthems are about fighting and being better than everyone else. Swedish (and nordic) nature speaks to peoples souls somehow. It gives you this deep seated, slightly sad, longing feeling. Like you're missing a part of yourself. It is hard to explain why but ut feels slightly magical^^ I'm also slightly biased since I live here, but even so I always feel that pull towards the wilderness. Jonna does some awesome videos about swedish folk lullabys and about "kulning" (nordic herding call singing) which you heard a little bit of in this video. It was used to call the cows home since the sound travels very far over the landscape. If you like this I think you will also like her video of the Wolf Song (a lullaby) and also Sankta Lucia which is a swedish tradition of celebrating the Maiden of Light during the darkest winter months. It is a beautiful tradition with beautiful melodies. I also really recommend her informative videos about nordic winters and what polar nights are in the northernmost part of Sweden. Those videos are not music though so maybe not meant for reaction videos on a music channel like yours, but I recommend you watch them between videos:) Her videography and photography have only gotten better with experience and now they are simply breathtaking.
I only ever knew the Swedish anthem how it was played at sporting events. It wasn't until I heard Jonna's version that I realized how beautiful and strong the lyrics are.
My great grandfather Peter August was born in Skede in the Southern part of Sweden, and I heard a few stories from my grandfather about his fathers journey, the Swedish settlers and communities in the new world. This is a lovely and powerful rendition of the anthem, and beautiful images of the country. TY for sharing this! ❤ and peace✌️

The official version of "Du gamla du fria" is more upbeat and works very well for sports events and such, but this one is my favourite. It captures the whole vibe of our nature so perfectly: ancient, serene, beautiful and also kinda moody and some times a bit eerie. An old forest in autumn, wrapped in fog, droplets hanging on the branches, the scent of the damp moss and composing leaves and a raven flying over the tree tops, man that's a mood..., or a winter night when it's cold AF, the moon cast long shadows on the glittering snow and it's so quiet you hear absolutely nothing but your own footsteps..., yep i want to live, i want to die in the north.
A little side info - she moved 1000 kilometers north and started her new life. There is still about 900 kilometers more of Sweden NORTH of her.... she is rather close to (200km) to geographical center of Sweden. So there is lots of Sweden to explore.

Awesome stuff! I love your content and seeing people discover new music. Have you heard of diablo swing orchestra? If not please tryout ‘voodoo mon amour’.
This is a heavily modified and very Jonna-like version of the song, which is the de facto national anthem of Sweden. I'm saying de facto because while this is used as the national anthem, there's no law making it the anthem.
you should go northern parts, southern kinda is transforming to muslims soon, i know sounds like im a racist, but were slowely transforming, sadly to say. visit while you can
go with the swede theme and litsen to som old norse tales ! the band HERJAN (odin) does it. not racist or al that crap.. just old tales .. for example " kvädet om en gråskägg och en vreden tor" .. it got english lyrics
Swede here, you're unfortunately incorrect. Our J is pronounced like Y in english. So it would be like Yonna Yinton for english speakers. We're not spanish up here in the north.
This is not our national anthem. She uses the same words but the melody is totally different. Personally I don't like when people do this to any song. I mean, if you're going to make up your own music, why not write your own lyrics as well? Listen to Erik Grönwalls version instead. He uses the correct melody, and at least to me that is far more beautiful.
Fun fact. Even though Du Gamla Du Fria is credited as Sweden's national anthem, and is played under that label in both casual and official capacity, it actually isn't the national anthem. Sweden doesn't have an officially sanctioned national anthem. This song is just so ingrained into culture and tradition that it's basically pointless to even question its claim for that title. Several attempts to legalize its status as the official national anthem has been made, and rejected. Its importance in tradition and its footprint in the cultural identity is the only thing that legitimizes it as the national anthem, not any legal definition. It will remain the anthem for as long as it remains relevant to the Swedish culture and its people. It will never be official, and it will never matter that it isn't.
As a Swede this one goes deep down into my soul. Jonna is a fantastic singer.

You would love her videos of winters in the north of Sweden. She lives out in the middle of nowhere and it’s beyond beautiful!
Another Great musican from Sweden, Tommy Johansson and his cover 'Ave Maria' is something I think you will like.
I have been meaning to do more Tommy.
You gotta come here.!❤😊

Just wanna say your pronunciation was great 👍
much love friend.
Her version of "the wolf song" is something you should listen to as well- considering your name😄
Just did a few days ago actually.
I'm swedsh, and my tears falling down my face ... for a sweden that are lost due to the mass-migration ... so said ... Our National Anthem in a reworked version
Awesome stuff! I love your content and seeing people discover new music. Have you heard of diablo swing orchestra? If not please tryout ‘voodoo mon amour’.
sounds wild lol
This is a heavily modified and very Jonna-like version of the song, which is the de facto national anthem of Sweden. I'm saying de facto because while this is used as the national anthem, there's no law making it the anthem.
If you want to hear something else from Jonna, try The Wolf Song.
Jonna (Yonna)
We are Sweds
Something is not right with the way we life
We are so disconnected from nature and it makes me sad and pisses me off at the same time
The north in Sweden is a magical place. You look Swedish, have you done a DNA test? I can see that you have some of this culture in your blood.
I'm actually in the process of learning. I was told Dutch, German, and my grandmother was Native American
😊👍🏻🇸🇪
you should go northern parts, southern kinda is transforming to muslims soon, i know sounds like im a racist, but were slowely transforming, sadly to say. visit while you can
It's the National Anthem friend
Makes me want to give us p this world, and move somewhere away from the busy people.
Yea, I live in a little mountain town and I love it.
Hopefully they don't let their country get overrun and destroy their culture like what is happening to pretty much all of Western Culture countries
Its allredy happening a bit..
@@sofiez3533 sad
go with the swede theme and litsen to som old norse tales ! the band HERJAN (odin) does it. not racist or al that crap.. just old tales .. for example " kvädet om en gråskägg och en vreden tor" .. it got english lyrics
J = H sound
Sounds like Honna Hinton.
oh got it, thanks for the guidance.
Incorrect, it's not Spanish. J is like the "Y" in "yellow".
Sweden does not have a national song. Du gamla, du fria is considered the National song, but it's not official
We need GenZ that can work and pay taxes, come to Seden.
And she not living in the north of Sweden.
