  • There are various treks you can do when visiting Ifugao in Luzon.
Whether you choose to stay in Banaue or Batad, you can still wander on many trails.
We stayed at Bogah Homestay in Banaue and went on this 2 day trek with our host, Kuya Joel.
We had such a great time on this adventure, our only regret was that we didn't take the 3 days trek instead, to have more time to spend with the locals.
We also had the chance to be shown how they prepare the MOMA (local coco leaves + lime + tobacco mix) that the locals chew.
Our trek started just outside Banaue, trekking through the jungle for about 4 hours until we finally made it to the viewpoint of Pula village. Another 40 minute down the stairs through the rice terraces and we made our way onto Lower Pula. Here we met some lovely kids who followed us for a while on our trek to Upper Pula (another 45 minutes - 1 hour)
From here is where the most scenic part of the day started, trekking through the jaw dropping rice terraces between Pula village and Cambulo.
Cambulo is slightly more developed and more accessible, it's easier to reach via Batad, however, locals of Pula need to trek 4 hours to get to either Banaue, or Batad.
There's currently a road being built through the Cordillera Mountains that will pass close by Pula, which means local will have more access to transportation.
We slept at a homestay in Cambulo where they can prepare food for you (veeeery delicious food), from where we continued our trek towards Batad Rice Terraces on the next day (part 2 of this video)
