    We've found a cheaper method for making coffee that is so easy. We have a Hario V60 Ceramic coffee dripper that sits on top of our coffee mug. All you need is a scoop of ground coffee and a cone filter. We have an electrical kettle that heats the water in seconds. Pour over and let it drip. Wash the dripper in the dishwasher. We don' t have to worry about contamination that you can get when the tubes in the Keurig machine. They can get bacteria buildup over time.

    My cooling tip is to reuse a plastic water bottle (smart water, fiji, evian, etc), fill it with tap water 3/4 full and stick it in the freezer. When you turn in, wrap the frozen bottle in a tea towel and take it to bed with you. Make sure the cap is secure. Almost free and decidedly not fancy, but it got me through all my years of hot flashes.

    When I click on the link for the cooling blanket, it takes me to Amazon. However, there are several brands of blankets and comforters listed. Which one or which brand did you recommend?? I was looking at some of the responses and you recommend the brand called Comflive. I saw that brand and they have two cooling blankets however, one looks like it's a comforter versus a blanket. The blanket is out of stock and it looks like it may not come back into stock. Did you get the one that looks like a comforter? It says it's a down blanket alternative.

    A long conversation about coffee but unfortunately I don't like coffee. Even mocha cakes put me off because of their distinct coffee flavouring (coffee drinkers wonder what I am talking about when it comes to mocha cakes). I know millions (billions?) think I am crazy but that's what my taste buds tell me. I kind of wish I did like coffee, the coffee shops look inviting and there's lots interesting varieties -- espresso, latte, whatever coffee it is that seems to have whipped cream on the top, so many choices. I see people enjoying their coffee chatting with others and "meeting for coffee" seems to be the number one way to begin a friendship. I feel like I am missing out on a whole "coffee culture" experience shared by the rest of the world.
    It's not like I haven't tried. Many years ago I decided I would I drink a coffee every time my work mates had a coffee and I did that for 2 weeks straight. I figured maybe it was something I could get used to with repetition but sadly not, for me the flavour just got worse and worse over time. Near the end of the 2 weeks I was dreading whenever someone called out "Who want's a coffee?"
    Oh well, such is life and I am glad you enjoy your coffee but it's not for me. I do like my morning cup of strong tea though and even better if it is made in a pot with loose leaf tea leaves. In case you think I am displaced Brit I am in fact many generations Canadian. Who knows what happened to my thoroughly born and bred North American taste buds.😋

    • @LK-hy5jz
      @LK-hy5jz 3 месяца назад +2

      I grew up enjoying cup of tea every morning and in my country it was only loose leafs tea available back then. The tea pot had to be washed and boiling water added three times. Then leafs are added and that tea was exquisitely delicious!
      Once I stepped from a boat on American soil (figuratively speaking!) I tried freshly made coffee. I developed the taste eventually and I do enjoy coffee but tea will remain in my heart as a favorite drink.
      Having said this, and back to a coffee topic, I grind beans myself and drink my coffee black. Never with milk or sugar. Same with the tea :)

    I had nver heard of a coloing blanket. Thanks for the info. I learn so much following you two. In the summer I always turn on the AC at night so I don't get too hot, but this might be worth a try and give the AC a rest. I always watch your videos!

    Do you have any battery operated fans for when/if you have to go without power?
    Happened to a building in a hot tourist area here in Australia not so long ago and it was extremely unpleasant fo the residents.
    No air con. or even lifts etc etc.
    Exact opposite here and pretty cold, for us, which wouldn't be so bad except we aren't getting much rain either.
    Might even have to lash out and buy some heating oil for the first time in about 10 years soon.

    I have gone to the even darker side of coffee. If I get up first I fill my mug with water and stick it in the microwave for 90 seconds. Then I add "instant" coffee. So I am having my breakfast coffee in under two minutes. There are a number of pretty good instant coffees out there and I experiment with them. It is hard to admit this since I am from the Seattle area. I do have some Starbucks instant though.
