thanks for this video, I just finished installing a push button ignition with not much more info than this. very simple, almost impossible to do wrong. awesome video
Thumbs up, great video man. Your instructions are easy to follow, straight and to the point. I often find with so many of the @RUclips instructional videos the person talks to fast, doesn't speak clearly or they're accent is so strong I'm unable to understand what they are saying and as a result I'm forced to either watch the video over often several times over or watch another video.
I have a 2010 lexus es 350.this is my original push start button won't turn my car off,car running wasting my gas...I keep pushing the button n nothing ...I push again I'm tired by now..finally it turn off, what's going on ..need your help ...will be appreciated
Hi, would I be able to splice into the starter "cold" wire coming out of the key cylinder, instead of running a new wire to my starter ? It seems my car will only start when cold, but once warmed up, the starter doesn't receive power thus womt start up again.
i did it on my 7.3 ,works fine, one goes to + battery other to small positive wire on solenoid starter.turn on key in pre-start and push button.easy.@@tatchell95
Do you know how to wire one of these on a tao tao 100cc chinese atv they are wiring nightmare and have only one fuse but its glass cylinder style? I have plenty of wire, and switch just wasnt sure if was different due to only one fuse and different style of fuse. Let me know.
So would I need a key still to unlock the steering wheel or can I just use the switch? Also if I was to put a safety (hidden switch) so only I know where it is to activate the button. Where would be the best position to add such a switch?
You still need the key. But you can somehow disconnect the start possition of the key so only the push button will crank the engine. I don't know the best place to put a hidden switch! You should keep that intel off the internet jist in case! Good luck!

jr andablo Most hardware/automotive places will have a push toggle or spring loaded toggle switch. You habe to turn the key off as per normal with this method.
Question... what if my truck is older and I have a starting cylinoid on the fire wall.... one side goes to the starter... the other to the batt, is this the side I splice into?
elitecssplayer Thanks again and sorry for so many questions but Do you need to A:Connect the screw wire to a separate fuse B:combine the screw wire with the same fuse as the starter wire or C: combine both wires together but the screw wire to its own 20 amp fuse?
My shit toyota was stolen n had ingnition key port ripped out to need a screw driver to start it. That didnt bother me till i reemed out where i would use flathead to slot and turn it. Descusted with that now, ima try this. Thank you kindly!
Joe Viellieu No I don't think so. With this method, you still have to put the key in the "ON" position. This method is especially good for when you disable the start position of the key so you HAVE to use the push starter.
IO think I found you're "lost fart" while trying to wire my John Deere rx75 this way, ran into rectifier and 5 amp regulator...what to do with these...please help, thx!
Short. To the point . And no bullshit music. You fucking rock!!!!! Now , on a 1990 gmc truck I have that same push button that I wanna make a starter button. If you know , how do I wire it up? What color wire comes off the starter that I need to find?
you hook up one of the wires from the button to the selonoid, not the starter. hook up the other wire from the button to either the battery direct, with a inline fuse for safety, or hook it up to a 20 amp fuse in the fuse box, i would use the battery myself.
If both those wires are really thick, say 4ga. Then do not try to do this. Find a small wire that has to do with starting and hook up the switch there.
A push button is not a single pole single throw switch. It is a momentary switch there is a difference. A single pole single throw is a simple on off. A push button energizes as long as it is held, once released it is deenergized.
Cold wire? Wtf it's called the solenoid switching wire, might want to use correct terminology if you are putting up videos for people to learn from pal!
Straight to the point the best got damn video on you tube.. Teacher of the fucken year hands down..not 5 but 6 stars....
I appreciate how simple you explained it, great job!
Qq11
the best explanation ever is this vid.it is perfect straight to the point and if ya do it right it works great thanks alot

Thank you for the kind words! I agree, folks needa slow down a bit these days, we live such an immediate lifestyle!
NICELY Done and With Reason why Keep it Simple.
You forgot to say what gauge wire to use and can I plug a 20 amp fuse for this into any fuse socket that is open, thanks.
Fantastic and simple information. Thank you
Thxs u don't ever stop making these videos

Been using this method to turn my vehicle on for 2 years now, haven't had any problems
If the wire feels hot is it in correct install for push start wire set up

Thank you so much for making this video. It saved me a lot of money. THANK YOU! :-)
Nerina Tejeda glad to help!
is the cold wire always the smaller bolt on the starter?
what is the cold wire? and or where is it located on most vehicles ?
is the cold wire the signal wire that travels from the ignition switch to the starter?
if I just put wires on solenoid with push button wires,, would it work? ( no fuse),.Same way you use screwdriver the solenoid to start engine up.
Did you do this? Did it work I'm looking to do the same
i did it on my 7.3 ,works fine, one goes to + battery other to small positive wire on solenoid starter.turn on key in pre-start and push button.easy.@@tatchell95
Good job young man.
What about the starter relay
I used a little 20amp bottom and it didn't work. Does it have to be one of the big switches?
Trevor grubaugh There is no fuse in the toggle switch.
Nice!!....1 question; How do you cut off the vehicle?
You have to use the key like you would normally.
@@LostFart so u still need the key? THEN WHY have push button start? I thought that was the whole purpose was to get rid of the key...
@@Buick72100 the key can't start the vehicle, only the button can.
@@LostFart thanx...I was originally looking to add a push button ONLY start/stop...To Completely eliminate the key...Like newer some cars
@@Buick72100 those have key fobs so there still needs something else

Do u drill a hole in the fuze? Or just wrap wire around fuse?
g loc I just wrapped it around the fuse, or rather I just shoved the wire into the fuse
Ok thank u have u ever had any probs doing this cuz I am doing this an using video

No problem mate! Get it installed dude!

are you wiring this tot he starter motor or the starter solenoid
Solenoid
Love the video excellent explanation helped me out a lot
do you need to get extra wire or are you using the same wire as the starter
You need a new wire to go from the toggle switch to the starter motor.
elitecssplayer thanks and what would be the preferable size of wire to use?
12g
12g or 14g
elitecssplayer Thanks again and sorry for so many questions but Do you need to A:Connect the screw wire to a separate fuse B:combine the screw wire with the same fuse as the starter wire or C: combine both wires together but the screw wire to its own 20 amp fuse?

That's a great spoon collection on the wall. .
thanks for the vid. that spoon collection tho xD
From 2020. Thanks lostfart. I think I'll do this to my C7000 dumper... maybe some undercarriage lights too, for the ladies.
will this bypass the pats system???
Joe Viellieu No I don't think so. With this method, you still have to put the key in the "ON" position. This method is especially good for when you disable the start position of the key so you HAVE to use the push starter.
I’m trying to find a push button starter that you hit the button one time and it starts. They have them on 2010 Nissan Altima
Do you just pressed it again to kill the engine?
No, this just jumps the starter. You have to have the key in turned to ON and then OFF to stop the engine.
Nice tiny spoon collection.

How do you turn it off push again?
Derrpy Derp No! never do that just turn your car off with the regular ingnition switch you know with the key.
Where did u buy it that switch At bubba
How to know which cables should be connected? 😰
Thanks man, good vidio

Markus this was exactly what I was looking for. Cause I didn't know where to hook the 2nd wire up to! Thank you
Markus what selonoid? On the starter or ignition??
starter solenoid
Markus, that goes to the hot on the solenoid? and the other to the battery. Tks
i can vouch for this video it worked perfectly ty little brother and peace
Thanks bruv! Appreciate the love.
thanks buddy! 🤘
you made this easy
Thanks man that work awesome. .

nice video. diagram was nice
You can't use a taco switch without a spring in it because it'll stay constant
Thanks I only had to watch the first two mins lol
What about ignition power and fuel pump power... ?

+TheBanjo53, So the difference is simply spring loaded vs not spring loaded?
Remember guys anytime you're working with your vehicle electronic sistem remove the nagative terminal from your battery untill you are done working.
how good at diagnosing car trouble with sensors
Thanks
Thank you.
You forgot to put a relay conecting to starter
You don't have too
Woldd this work for 2005 chevy impala
+jus Sayin It should!
Btw, it's VICE versa.
Then turn your phone off, if you are doing a video. You couldnt figure that out?? Cmon use your brain
Couldn't agree with you more sir.
