I remember this service. This was my first convocation service. I did not wanna leave. I was all over this video. I miss the Old way the international mass choir was directed. Every director received an opportunity to direct or lead a song. I was only 13 when this was recorded for the centennial celebration in 1997. This was a great event. This Is why i LOVE the Grand Ole Church Of God In Christ!
I notice that Mother Whitley is lauded in the International COGIC for her administration skills however she was an excellent song writer. She was definitely on the level of all of the past presidents of the music department. This is standard, pure and applied Gospel Music which is a lost art of this time. This takes a skill set that is not easy.
YES!!! I JUST HAPPEN TO COME ACROSS THIS VIDEO CLIP FROM THE CLARKSTV AND WE JUST DID THIS SONG SUNDAY FOR MY CHOIR'S 30'th ANNIV/REUNION CONCERT AND OF COURSE THEY'VE ALWAYS WRECKED THE HOUSE WITH THIS ONE. THEY BEEN SINGING THIS SONG EVERY SINCE I COULD REMEMBER.
I was just a younger man remembering this convocation. It was so so awesome, that is also te first time I ever heard Nathan Simmons preach. I remember his message and him telling us to say yes until we felt it when we first got saved!
It may have been first recorded by the REV ISAAC DOUGLAS with The Birmingham Community Choir in the early 70's I remember it as a child. Its also on youtube just enter the aforementioned name.
