Just took a rock to the windshield of my 67 GTA coupe. While trying to figure out if this was something I could do, I found your video. Thanks for the info. I especially love the links to the tools!

Oh thanks! Glad I could help but that sucks about your windshield. Has it spread across or does it just have a chip that can be filled in?

@@AlfsMustangGarage Just a chip. I may try and fill it in for now.

That's a good idea before it spreads 👍

How 'bout doing it without cutting up the gasket?

If the gasket is still fresh and flexible, that would be a possibility. Once these things have been there for 10 plus years, they're usually pretty stiff.

So true my gasket was as hard as a rock had to cut it

So thankful I found this one too, Alf! Is a worn out windshield gasket a common source for water to get into these cars? I ask only because I recently did the dreaded 'cowl repair' with a tophat kit and blockoff plates for both sides before installing my Vintage Air kit. Only problem is I'm still getting water into the car. I poured a few cups of water directly into the cowl vent and saw no leaks, but when I washed the car I had tons of water in the floor pan. Needless to say I was really frustrated and feel a bit defeated. Someone in the Vintage 6 forum suggested it could be because my windshield seals are shot, which I would totally believe. Would appreciate your insight! Also wondering if I can replace the windshield myself...thanks!

Hi Tim. Yes the windshields are very common to leak. I've been battling windshields myself to get to seal up and it can be quite a challenge because installing a new gasket doesn't seem to do it alone. I've been learning and refining my techniques so what you see in my early videos I wish I could re-do because I've been learning. But ultimately the best video I have found on this subject is by @MustangstoFear ruclips.net/video/vr7Prioj9Xo/видео.html

@@AlfsMustangGarage thanks for that - I just watched that video, and I felt like there was a lot left that he didn't cover, like when he set the glass in, where he got the rope from, which way the gasket goes, very low light, etc... Anyway, I think your videos are MUCH better, but I'll keep finding/watching these to keep learning. Thanks for the quick response as always!

Oh ya right on. I think what I liked best was what sealant he used and where he put it. But ya you might have to watch a few videos and combine the best from each.
