ThaanK U very very much sir
    Your speech very clarity sir
    Minimum Engineering Students
may not knows about ---- NPTEL
    Training.
    My Suggest is that sir
    Every Student must learn
    Own hand Calculations.
Sir now a days Max Students from some Collages not having 20% knowledge.
Only using Staad pro, E-Tab software
    God may be Bless YouSir.

If you all judge his English then you won't get time to listen to what he is saying.
Judge his words not his language.

hello prof, is it compulsory to use square footings for square columns and rectangular footings for rectangular columns?what conditions govern choice.

No, it's depend on soil capacity and load condition,

at 44:20 why two way shear is taken at d/2 away from the column and not at d?

Is the self weight of the footing taken into account to calculate the bearing pressure for shear and flexure checks?

    • @acharnandakumar
      @acharnandakumar 7 лет назад

+Soumik Ghosh it's two way shear called as punching shear which come at that distances

note that IS code is close to BS 8110 , so if any one interested in BS 8110, this course will be very very helpful even if you have no idea about Reinforced concrete design >>> but you will struggle with boring tutorial ...

o.k ,just focus on these lectures which based on Indian code ,only the different is some symbols and some words. then you can understand BS 8110:part 1 code of practice for design and construction
