I absolutely love your videos! Keep them coming! By the way that is an absolute beautiful black saddle! If I may ask, what is the name of this type of saddle and is it easy to find? Or was it custom made? Thank you!

Thank you! The saddle is an older one made by a company called "Specialized Saddles". You basically build your own saddle based on different options. They have several endurance models.

What exactly is your Garmin that track your ride? Is it also hooked to a heart monitor for your horse?

It's a Garmin 920 XT. It has a human heart rate monitor - we added elastic to each side and have used it on the horses. It works well with the arabs but is not as accurate on the more heavily muscled horses like Spirit. I also use and watch/heart rate monitor that has only that purpose - also meant to be used by a human!

We are already struggling with flies! What do you ladies use on the horses for these long rides and around the farm?

Really good question flies are such an issue..In general, around the farm we have it set up so that all the horses can go in/out a stall as they want so that takes care of it. We don't put food in the stall so they will venture out to eat and venture out at night. They decide what they want more..to eat or to put up with flies. On the trail, that's a multi-layered answer. First off, in serious fly season I put three different products on the horses, first a good quality spray, then a product called "wipe" that goes along the widest part of the barrel and then a white creamy stuff (can't remember the name) on the but and in the mane. Leave it there after the ride and it helps for any of the other horses in that paddock. Another way - and I use this a lot but only with a seasoned horse...if you pick up the canter/fast trot and stay there - you WILL outrun them! I train this way a lot with Spirit and Kohl.
