You like the guitar solo of this song, then check out the instrumental intro of "Xanadu" by Rush as that was the original that was put into practice sheet music for Slash to practice and Axel heard him playing that "Xanadu" riff and said, "Sounds like you've got a song there" not knowing Slash hadn't come up with anything.
But best guitarist, please! You need a real education on guitar.

Now this is the only band in the history of the world to out perform "The Beatles" in all metrics: albums sold, concert tickets sold, and play on T.V. and radio appearances to do it while "The Beatles" existed.
But even more telling was John Maynall lost Eric Clapton and the band showed up for practice seeing his stuff gone and heard Eric Clapton left and John Maynall said, "Don't worry, we got someone better. You won't even miss him." After the practice was over their new guitarist left and the whole band said, "You were right. We'll never miss Eric Clapton" and sure enough buy any John Maynall album with Eric Clapton and from the new guitarist and all the albums by him were better than anything Eric Clapton ever did in that band.

This song came out about the same time my daughter was born.
The first time I heard it, I cried thinking of my beautiful blond haired blue eyed Angel and every time I hear it, I still get choked up.
Two years ago we had our father, daughter dance to this song at her wedding.

ALL backing vocals on this album we're done by Axl.
He originally sang in his natural lower voice, but one time he got mad and screamed a lyric in his high pitched voice. One of the girlfriends was there and told him that he should sing in THAT voice. He tried it and it worked. So he kept that voice, but you can hear his normal voice in songs like Mr Brownstone and Double Talkin' Jive.

The lows during the "Where do we go now?" part are Axl. His vocal range is 5 octaves and a semitone, debatably 6. The only singers with bigger ranges than him are Mike Patton at 6 octaves and a semitone (Faith No More), Kyo at 6 octaves and a semitone with a debated 7th octave note (Dir En Grey), and Tim Storms, who holds the world record.
Also fun fact: the "where do we go" breakdown was literally Axl asking where the song was going next, he didn't know what to sing, so he started singing that and the producer told him to keep going, and it wound up in the song.

One of the major things about Axl as a singer is his enormous vocal range. Some articles state he can sing as low as bass and even as high as actual soprano. There are other songs like “Mr. Brownstone” where sings the majority of it in a lower range. In fact when I first had a copy of this album, and heard that lower range I thought it was a different singer.

    W. Axl Rose (vocals) wrote the lyrics to "Sweet Child O' mine" as a love song to his then- girlfriend Erin Everly (recorded in 1986, released in 1987)... they were briefly married in 1990, but Axl was extremely volatile and unpredictable back then, so it was not a productive relationship. A photographer friend of their said, when it was good, it was good... but when it was bad, it was horrible. There were a lot of problems between them... (Erin Everly appeared in this video briefly... she also did the video for "It's so easy" which was banned back then).
Axl filed to annul his marriage to Erin Everly... she sued him in court and won a settlement... NOT a happy ending. Axl was later involved w/ supermodel Stephanie Seymour (who appeared in the videos for "Don't cry" and "November rain") ...but they also broke off their engagement by 1993 and she sued him and won a settlement as well.
The actual song came about as a joke... Slash (lead guitar) was rehearsing w/ the band and he showed off this 'circus' riff... he didn't intend to use it as a song, but Axl loved it and quickly put a song together on that riff.

If you have not done November Rain then this is a must. Even more epic than this one. You should do the Ballad Trilogy. 1.Don't Cry 2. November Rain and 3. Estranged (Guns N Roses most epic song). The Guns N' Roses frontman, Axel Rose has the biggest vocal range of any other singer. A chart, put together by Concert Hotels, shows the highest and lowest notes each artist hit in the recording studio and even the song on which they hit them.
Axl Rose came out on top with a vocal range of 5 octaves and 5 semitones, from F1 to Bb6, but he can hit higher notes from time to time.
(The highest was on the track "Ain't It Fun" from 'The Spaghetti Incident" and the lowest was on "There Was A Time" from 'Chinese Democracy'.)
    * [BUT, I have recently heard the "Faith No More" singer is more capable than Axel so I must look into him his name is Mike Patton.]

This album (Appetite For Destruction) came out in 1987 or 1988 (I forget which).
Other hits from it include Paradise City (which I think you already reacted to), and the album-opener, Welcome To The Jungle.
Other good tunes from the album include Rocket Queen, My Michelle, and You're Crazy.

thus music video is infamous for a few reasons but the primary one is getting them all in one place and sober enough to perform this was one of the hardest jobs of the 80's. and that's not including the the band tension at the time. Their behind the music docu is amazing and a must-watch if you can find it.

Axl wrote the lyrics for his then girlfriend Erin Everly. Also, Axl has that deep voice. He's a second baritone and his vocal range is one of the highest among pop and rock singers.

The dance moves of Axl Rose were called the Snake Dance. Kurt Cobain, the singer of Nirvana, was imitating it and making fun of it at the MTV Awards. After this, Kurt and Axl really disliked each other.

Axl is practicing with the band and playing around with his voice one day. He starts using the iconic voice we now identify with him as goofing around. Couple other bandmates tell him to keep doing that. He's a natural baritone if you've ever heard him speak. Just playing around with his voice and they liked it. He had always played around with his voice because he was in choir back in school. This was the first time he was playing around with the band and it was before they blew. Don't know if there's any truth to this but somebody in here can put me in check and let me know. Good reaction. Too bad they had to split when they were at the peak of international Fame.
