Ronnie Wood - artist, musician, producer and author. Yet, there is so much more to know about the man himself. This intimate portrait traces the many lives and careers of one of the most important guitarists in rock music, capturing what it means to be a rock ‘n’ roll icon.
From Wood’s early years to joining the music scene of the 1960s, his time with the Jeff Beck Group, finding fame with The Faces and becoming a permanent member of The Rolling Stones, Mike Figgis captures Wood’s charismatic warmth, energy and honesty as he speaks openly about his battles with drink and drugs. The film takes its title from Wood surviving his chronic smoking habit, as he says: “When they operated on my cancer, they took away my emphysema. They said my lungs were as if I’d never smoked. I thought: ‘How’s that for a Get Out Of Jail Free card?’”.
The Mike Figgis-directed documentary features brand new interviews with Wood’s Rolling Stones bandmates Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts, as well as his Faces bandmate, Rod Stewart. Other interviewees include Wood’s wife Sally Wood, singer Imelda May and artist Damien Hirst, alongside both present-day performances and excellent archive footage from Wood's stellar multi-band career.
Throughout the film, footage of Wood playing guitar and harmonica is a reminder of his talents as a versatile instrumentalist, while he also thoughtfully and skillfully paints in his studio. It climaxes with Wood giving a beautiful, intimate performance of ‘Breathe On Me’ from his 1975 solo album ‘New Look’.
Ronnie says, “I live my life to the full, no regrets. I never got past 29 in my head and since I’m still here, I guess somebody up there does like me! Every day I continue to be inspired by my family, music and art. With my painting I embrace my peaceful side, but then on the flipside I get to rock out. I’m privileged to continue to have so many great moments in my life”.

I remember seeing him in concert with the faces in'71. I thought then that he should be a Stone!
One of my all time favorite guys and a perfect fit in the Stones universe. The gods smiled down on Ronnie Wood. 😎👍 .... I was a teenager in the 60's and ever since I have struggled with which was the greatest rock band ever, the Beatles or the Stones. With the Stones longevity performing at max warp they top the Beatles, which says something.

The first time I heard Stay With Me. I was like . I love this guitar player !! I was like maybe 16 years old. And I've been a fan ever since. I saw Ronnie on his first Rolling Stones tour in 1975. And just a couple of months later I saw him again with the Faces on their final U. S. Tour. I've seen him solo. And I STILL have my front row pit ticket on Ronnie's side of the stage for the Stones 2020 No Filter Tour here in Atlanta. Fingers crossed it still happens. I've got ALL of Ronnie's solo albums. And they all are TOP SHELF !! And as far as I'm concerned. Ronnie is the baddest motherfuckers on the slide guitar around. My hero ROCKIN Ronnie Wood 💪🏆🎯🙏⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ronnie is like the cool guy that everyone likes and is always fun and up for a good time. He's a pleasant conversationalist and easy to get along with. And he's a good guitar player. I realize Mick Taylor was probably the more technically talented player but Ronnie was a better fit for hanging out with the boys. And there is a reason he's still in the band today.

I met Ronnie Wood 30 years ago in the UK when I was on "the trip of a lifetime". I did not recognise him, but then he didnt recognise me either. We had a chat for ten minutes about this and that whilst we were both killing time. Very nice bloke, just a normal person.

When I first heard Ron Wood had lung cancer a) I wasn't surprised b) it was, like, oh shit, he's a goner.....but it just shows how far cancer treatments have come...he looks and sounds amazing!....and I still wish I had his hair!....

There are some albums that stays with you for the rest of your life. Ronnie Woods Now Look is such an album to me. I must have listen to it a thousand times since I bought in the seventies. And yes I got all the other albums too. Rock on Mr Wood!

Ronnie's solo albums are all stellar. Any Stones/ Faces fan should explore his catalog. Even the sketchier ones like "1234", and "Not For Beginners" make sense, and have their place in his story. 'Beginners' especially, his one album, which even among hardcore fans is often maligned is a statement. I listen to all his solo stuff quite a bit; certainly the most of a all Solo-Stones releases.

Hope you read this Ron ,The first time I saw you play was with Rod Stewart ,I can't remember the year it's all a little hazy those days I was Hitch hiking around the country stopped in at Denver Colorado I was tired and dirty decided to get a room for the night at the Denver Hilton , I walked up to the desk and they freaked out saying we're very sorry but we don't have the rooms ready yet ,they brought out a list and said just check your name and we will get the room ready as soon as possible it was a list of all the members in the band ,I was a little confused and told them I wasn't with the band , but got a room and went to the show that night too this day I wish I had checked in with you guys and seen what would have happened !! God likes me too keeping me around to do some of his work still I believe.I think of people who are no longer here,I had to quit the drinking , smoking was by choice and I feel either I'm punished or Blessed for getting prostate cancer and so far so good but it was a wake up call.For some odd reason i look
