Today's class is very important. It's about the sharpest and fastest Nikkor Pro Lens, you can buy, used, for $500.

The Nikon 85mm f1.4D Nikkor lens has some of the best contrast and color saturation, especially for black and white photography.

Thanks for the recommendation. I am choosing between the AF-D or the AI-S version of the 85mm f/1,4.

I agree with everything you said! I have many Nikon lenses and this lens is the game changer lens that will make the picture that you take look incredible from anything else. I recall once using this lens with a beautiful model who commented to me as to why my pictures looked so much better than the other photographers pictures. I had to be honest and said I have to give credit to this lens. Thanks for confirming this with this video.

Your comments about purchasing from Japanese E-bay sellers are very true, with a couple of caveats. Look closely at the photos of the lenses. I've seen a few that are advertised as Mint+++++, but the photos clearly tell another story. I interpret a mint rating as meaning like new. Something else to be aware of is Nikons early AFS lenses can develop problems with their focus motors, especially if unused for a period of time. Hence, a lens that has a snappy aperture, no dust and no fungus, or separation of elements, can still have problems.
I'm lucky as there is a local camera store that buys and sells used lenses and cameras. Sooner or later just about every lens Nikon has ever made comes through there. Including some extreme rarities! What's great is having the ability to handle the gear before purchasing it.
I just picked up a very nice 85 f/1.4 d lens for $395.00. I really am looking forward to comparing it to my 135 f/2 DC lens. Both are famous bokeh monsters.
Love your street photography! Thanks for sharing......

I have this lens , is very good from 1,4 in B&W , made like a Tank , internal AF ( nothing moving from outside ) is great . I had opened and cleaned inside fungus myself (chip from Japan)

Thanks for video, agree with you on only buying gear from Japan, always has been a great buying experience and trusted! thanks for mentioning lens hood number, I ordered a brand new original Nikon box lens hood with my copy of 85mm f/1.4 D from my favorite Japanese seller. It seems that the stunning sharpness and bokeh in that 85mm f/1.4 D is similar to the 28mm f/1.4 D. I guess I'll find out. Love these vintage Nikon lenses on F2AS, D850 with AF. I can still use on new mirrorless bodies with FTZ adapter but without AF.

I’m currently using a D7200 for wildlife stuff, also do cosplay photos with a 35mm 1.8dx. Planning on getting a fullframe(non Z body, probably a second hand D4s or D750 or other fx body, depending on the price then)in a year or two,
Not sure if i should get this lens($375) or the 50mm f1.4D($116)? Kinda scared that the crop factor might be too tight since i am currently on a dx body.

Beautiful lens. It was my 1st of a pro glass on an F4E. Amazing Low light for Slide film indoors soft fill flash. There's sharper that came later but this has that creamy smooth character. It was still over 1000 quid bk then as well

I thought that the Nikon 85mm 1.8 g was slightly sharper and for a fraction of the price?
