WatchMojo.com Interesting side note is that Kefka also takes all your guys to take down because he's the villian that just doesn't quit. I don't think I have seen a villain with more transformations.
Ex SoldieR Sephiroth is the most badass, but only one villain has ever succeeded at kicking all the heroes asses and destroying the world and that's Kefka the Joker of the FF universe.

GuyWithAnAmazingHat Eh, I wouldn't go that far. A superb villain and magic power that is OP'd sure but destroying worlds? Dude 'destroyed' less than 10% of world in FF6 and he had a year on the job, too. If my party can sleep around at inns and call it a day when the worlds on fire I wouldn't put him on god tier.
Matthew Williams He has gained the powers of the warring triad who created the world. On the first day of the job he tore apart continents and shifted the oceans, if he actually tried, he could probably take the world apart. But destroying the planet wasn't his intention, he just wanted to damage the planet enough to cause chaos. You know, like Joker, he doesn't want to kill the planet, he just wants to hurt it really bad.
GuyWithAnAmazingHat It did say in Wikipedia that Kefka was even compared similarly to Batman's greatest foe, The Joker. I can see why Kefka was chosen number one for the Final Fantasy villains.
I think kefka is so popular because he really broke the jrpg villain mold back in the 90s and people were excited to see what crazy thing he'd say or do next; since they really couldn't predict it right up until he stabbed the emperor in the back and destroyed the world. Sephiroth I personally never 'got', however in advent children he had excellent presence, so maybe in the remake he's gonna be a super badass. edit: I also want to add in that final fantasy fans really shouldn't attack one another for their preferred character or game; we're all passionate about some aspect of final fantasy, that's great; respect each other's difference of opinion. :)
Sephiroth seemed more tragic and 'lost' as a villain. He did a complete 360 after discovering his origins. Kefka just didn't give a shiiiit after going through the magi treatments. I think they are both fantastic in their own special way!! FF7 AC had an AMAZING reintroduction of Sephiroth. I wish Kefka and the FF6 series got the same TLC
+TheBagelragel Since when did a top 10 list need to be surprising and unpredictable? The times that they are are when they reveal something that not many people know.
Sephiroth is always my favorite. Even he learned the truth of what he is that cause him to become insane and terrifying villain, he still retain his calm and cool personality. Plus, his presence and the way he speak in an ominously quiet tone really gives me a fearful chill.
Kefka is pure evil, but sephiroth is under the influence of Jenova Cells. Kefka wins. How many people does Sephiroth kill when he turns evil? Let's see small town of Neibelhiem, Zack, president shinra, and aerith...that's it. Kefka is responsible for destroying multiple cities, he even poisons the water supply to an entire city! That's insane!
I already replied to a guy whose RUclips name is Kefka Palazzo but I'll just copy-paste that reply 'cuz I don't feel like writing it again. Here goes: Sephiroth's plan regarding meteor succeded, Earth wouldn't have been the only planet he would've destroyed. He'd follow the steps of his "mother" - destroying planet after planet. He mentally tortured Cloud into doing some bad stuff like beating Aerith and almost killing her with Cloud failing to do so prompting Sephiroth to do it himself. Sephiroth killed a lots of people with his masamune and burned down an entire village, even Cloud's mother. He mentally manipulated people who were injected with Mako to lead them to his resting place just to kill them and absorb their Jenova cells. Kefka also killed a lot of people but not while being near them which is considered more sadistic - killing someone face to face. He only killed Emperor and Leo that way. He killed most of people with his Judgement bolt. I hope that made sense. + Sephiroth is a lot more iconic than Kefka. Also, it's not about how many people someone kills in the end. I wish u understood that.
@@LG1204 I agree. Sephiroth is the most horrific villain in the FF series in my opinion. His plan was to conquer the galaxy and possibly the universe through his meteor strike on the Earth. With that, he will absorb the lifestream and become powerful af and extremely intelligent, allowing him to gain knowledge of the past, present, and the future. I would say the reason why he was not able to match up is that he "let" Cloud and everyone else get stronger and stronger. If he did not waste time playing mind games and getting extra points for being evil, he would have grabbed the Black Materia, summoned it early and absorbed the planet before anyone could have time to react. Not only that, he could have killed the team each time they found him, but instead, Jenova fought them for him and lost miserably every time.
@@edotrad2651 I agree fully. Sephiroth suffered a case of arrogant villain toying with the heroes when he could have easily dispatched them plenty of times. Most villains do this and let's be honest, more often than not that's how heroes win.
Brent Heuser He feels sees, and there fore is a strong darkness, but thats only for realizing where he came from. If he didnt let it get to him he very well could of still been good. Kefka was just evil through and through. You are what you make yourself though.
Wow, didn't expect Vayne to be on this list. I feel like FF XII is constantly overlooked (which is a damn shame since it's actually one of my favourite FF games) - so kudos, watchmojo
Wait Garland was in another game? Holy... Garland was also in FFIX but he wasn't really a true villian unlike Queen Anne or Kuja in the game. He really didn't do much.
Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!!! For putting Kuja in the top three he was such a good villain and he gets like no love or recognition at all, when people think of final fantasy villains they usually think of sephy , Kefka, Seymore, or hell even Jecht for some reason ( come on guys Jecht wasnt a villain he was a good guy who loved his son, and had alot of problems, but tried to do the right thing when push came to shove. He was a victim of circumstance and his own personal demons ) , but Kuja, and hell final fantasy IX in general is so underated and underappreciated it they both deserve way more recognition than they get
EpicSteve23 Yes, Jecht is a victim, but he is still a villain. He's just a villain that doesnt want to be a villain. Doesn't mean we cant like him for it. A lot of villains have some weird circumstance or reason. Jecht is just one of the more unique ones in the Final Fantasy series. Not someone out for power, domination, or destruction. Just someone who wanted to bring a Calm to his world, but that brings him to having to force his son on a quest to ultimately kill him in the end.
Evelyn L. If you have played final fantasy 9 you'd just how monsterous a villlain Kuja actually is, dissidia did him a major discervice as far as his actual character and intelect goes
Ex-Death was such an amazing villain with such a tragically bad name. If they had named him ANYTHING cooler, like say, Bologna Sandwich, he would have been far more appreciated. He had a dark humor and a taunting presence throughout the game. He was pretty cool. His name was just so inconceivably lame that he is widely disrespected. Poor Bologna Sandwich.
frozenaorta I know. As much as I love Sephrioth and Kefka, I also love ExDeath. I mean, even he had the same drive for destruction as Kefka. Even he was insanely powerful. It's a shame he only got an honorable mention.
Kuja was very creative and is super underestimated unlike Sephiroth. He was a tough mofro to beat. I'm happy Kuja finally got some respect. Ultimecia isn't any better. I'm shocked she wasn't higher.
Oh good call on Wiegraf! He had such an amazing fall from grace in Final Fantasy tactics. There is nothing more human then a Villain created on the weaknesses of humanity.
Blackflare71 Bartandelous was better. Caius Ballad was sort of a rip off of Sephiroth (like Seymour and how the Advent Children were clones of Sephiroth).
***** Not really. >Wants to separate Yuel from Etro's grip >Decides to destroy Etro (instead of asking her to release Yuel and finding someone else to take her place) >Tries to have the heart of Chaos stabbed by Noel (even though I would think Etro could rip it out of him regardless) >Only realizes he fucked up 500 years AFTER when Yuel and all her reincarnations will not be put to rest.
Gackt4awesome Caius should've been a more humorous baddie who gloats all the time but could a better chance of coming off as pathetic and likely sympathetic.
I was hoping someone would mention him, I am old enough to remember the two top picks and can not argue their placement but loved the newest villain Aryden Izunia an interesting take and well made character. But part of me hopes his character will appear again but under a different title.
He may be in the list of the best, in my opinion. However, I kinda hated it when villains have complex backstories that make us sympathize with their motives. Like, why should we sypathize when we ultimately have to destroy them in the end.
pikapee! PIKACHU! Except that he didn’t. Kuja’s action attracted Necron, who WOULD have accomplished what you wrongfully gave Kuja credit for, if he wasn’t stopped by FFIX’s cast.
That was the same exact thing I said earlier. Kuja had a plan and wasn't backing down or altering the plan, & never even thought about giving up on the plan. Exactly what I was thinking. I am shocked Ultimecia wasn't higher. That woman was a tough one to beat. The Biggest Shocker was Sephiroth not being #1. With the popularity of FF VII being #1 most played game/talked about videogame worldwide, they had 2 sequels, a remake, a side story with Dirge of Cerberus, heck even a movie.
My Most Favorite Final Fantasy Villains from my Childhood years are: 1. Garland (Final Fantasy I) 2. Emperor Mateus (Final Fantasy II) 3. Cloud of Darkness (Final Fantasy III) 4. Golbez (Final Fantasy IV) 5. Exdeath (Final Fantasy V) 6. Kefka Palazzo (Final Fantasy VI) 7. Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII) 8. Ultimecia (Final Fantasy VIII) 9. Kuja (Final Fantasy IX) 10. Jecht (Final Fantasy X) 11. Kam'lanaut (Final Fantasy XI) 12. Gabranth (Final Fantasy XII) 13. Caius Ballad (Final Fantasy XIII) 14. Zenos yae Galvus (Final Fantasy XIV) 15. Ardyn Izunia (Final Fantasy XV) 16. Barnabas Tharmr (Final Fantasy XVI) And, there you have it. These are My Most Favorite Final Fantasy Villains from my Childhood years I Respect and Appreciate.
It’s the opinion of many. He’s just underrated and hidden within a mediocre trilogy :(. He was too good for those games. But then those games would be so boring without him.
So happy to see my man Kefka on this list. FF6 was the first Final Fantasy game I ever beat, and left quite the impression on me. And the deeper you look into the life and past of Kefka, you actually start to sympathize with him a little... but just a little.
Important correction about Gilgamesh he's NOT a villain he's more of a Anti-Hero/Rival as not only was he upset at the death of a party member but he also sacrifices himself to save Bartz and his friends not to mention he also helps Squall out thanks to his ability to travel the Interdimensional Rift
I was THIS close to pull a rant against you WM for letting out FFT so many times out of your FF countdowns, but came around with Wiegraf. FFT is one of the best written videogames ever.
from 6 and under not worth a video mention in my opinion maby an age thing but from 7 -10 these games feel like my whole life and i havent completed them all fully and i dont remember them fully but hearing music or seeing scenes from these games takes me back and makes me feel so emotional i love that
since god of war was remastered, i think there should be a top ten kratos moments, not just violence, but what defines him as a character.........................aaaaaaaaand the biggest badass ever
Great List. Final Fantasy 7 followed by 10 then 15 I would say are my favourites. Can't wait for 7 remake. Hope it defines the entire franchise and puts everything the original is remembered for. Hard game 7 jeez it's epic, very hard act to follow!
One of My Most Favorite FF Villains I can truly Respect and Support are: 1. Garland (FF I) 2. Emperor Mateus (FF II) 3. Cloud of Darkness (FF III) 4. Golbez (FF IV) 5. Exdeath (FF V) 6. Kefka Palazzo (FF VI) 7. Sephiroth (FF VII) 8. Ultimecia (FF VIII) 9. Kuja (FF IX) 10. Jecht (FF X) 11. Kam'lanaut (FF XI) 12. Gabranth (FF XII) 13. Caius Ballad (FF XIII) 14. Zenos yae Galvus (FF XIV) 15. Ardyn Izunia (FF XV) These guys here are definitely THE Best of the Best Epic Badass FF Villains throughout the years in the making of FF franchises I can definitely get used to! They're all No.#1 in my books!
For me, he is one of the best villains in the whole series, but he's not the main villain in FFVII and gets much less attention than Sephiroth - which somewhat offuscates him and is one of the reasons he's not much remembered as a villain. For one thing, he's not very different from Kefka in terms of being completely fucked up.
Actually JENOVA (FF7) should have been #1, an alien being of unknown power that is capable of conquering planets and dominating the inhabitants, even death doesn't stop it from wreaking havoc (FF7 Advent Children).
But Spehiroth is the villain we actually see and learn about. Jenova is just a monster that shows up sometimes, its more of a plot device than a villain sometimes
Kryptic Studios Corp despite certain implications and fan theroies, ultimately JENOVA isn't a real villain ebcause, well, she doesn't have a personality or anything to her, I don't think she even speaks. part of what makes a villain work is their personality and how they play off of the heroes or how they make the sitation more personal or effective beyond a natural disaster or mindless monster could. And Jenova...just doesn't have a personality.
Daniel Babineau Jenova herself doesn't really have a personality so shes not overly interesting, however the Jenova story line is what pushes the game forward and makes it more interesting to learn about.
Another thing that makes Kefka such an awesome villain is that there is that he's down to the core an awful person with no redeeming qualities. Most everyone else -- Sephiroth, Kuja, Seymour, even the Emperor from FF2 in the novelization -- have some Freudian excuse or tragic backstory to explain their behavior. Kefka however is a murderous psychopath for no reason other than that he is evil. I mean he's so evil that he LITERALLY can't comprehend why people commit acts of good. Since there is no "why" behind his actions other than bloodlust and insanity, it makes him much bigger on the villain scale than everyone else.
TV Tropes and other websites that dealt with FF2's Emperor Mateus have clearly determined the novelization is non canon. Even Square seems to have denied the novelization as canon. So Mateus has absolutely no redeeming qualities and is literally just an evil bastard for the hell of it.
KlaviceGavin even if the books are non-canon they at least tried to explain Mateus's craziness. Has there ever been an explanation for Kefka's craziness?
Mia Yes actually, in Dissidia it's explained he suffered a terrible broken heart and it's implied he was abused. While I doubt this is enough to mitigate his actions, it still exists.
Personally Sephiroth isn't as evil as Shinra, they made a WMD, so he was more than happy to be what he was made to be. figuratively speaking OFC, we all know Sephiroth was never happy after he knew what he truly was.
Loyal to his family, yeah right. Being suspected of murdering not only your four older brothers, but your father as well, and almost killing your youngest brother WHO IS LIKE 12 sure sounds like loyal to me. And I'm sorry, but Hojo is far worse than Sephiroth.
I think Jecht is my favorite villain. The fact the the villain is the main character's father and that he doesnt want to be the villain just makes me like him more.
So little love for V... oh well :/ The thing with this list... everybody knows who is going to be at #1 and #2, and that kind of ruins it. Also, Zemus was a terrible villain. Golbeze deserves it way more. Also: Where's the love (hate?) for that kid from FFTA? :P
Kato86 FFTA SPOLIER BELOW! The villain in FFTA was basically your brothers legs. As stupid as that sounds it definitely is worthy of this list as it's the only FF that made me question weather what I was doing was truly the right thing to do.
General Reply: I love V. It's my personal favorite, though I am aware it is easy to disagree and I am aware it's a very personal choice, not only because of its far from serious tone. But I think Exdeath is at least a decent villain, certainly better than e.g. Ultemiticia or Zemus imo, (the latter at least has a badass quote going for him) but Gilgamesh has become such an iconic character, he deserves more than an HM :/ Well, too bad, though.
DodgeThisBam Brother? o.O Eh, anyway, yes, FFTA had an often underestimated plot. I won't say it's the only FF that made me somewhat question my decisions, but it was among them for sure. It's a nice little game that gets too little credit. Oh well.
This is a really good list, I like the compilation you went with and the characters you ultimately selected. I do think Seymour wins 'most punchable face,' though. XD
Magnus Theli He's also been the most successful FF Villain. While Sephiroth had the world at the brink of the end, Kefka manage to cause the End of the World, killing millions. Just goes to show you what's more terrifying, an Intimidating Planning Master, or a Psychotic Unpredictable Madman?
Nicole Schadenfreude Kefka is already number one in WatchMojo's Top 10 FF Characters, Top Ten FF Villains, and Top Ten Video Game Murderous Psychopaths(?)
8:40 - To this day, around 20 years after playing FFVI for the first time... that laugh still haunts me. Kefka was the first videogame villain I truly hated. Glad to see he's top dog in this list. Thanks for the video. More Final Fantasy Top 10s are always good. Do the following: Top 10 Final Fantasy Vehicles Top 10 Final Fantasy Summons. Top 10 Final Fantasy Ultimate Weapons. Top 10 Final Fantasy Heroines. Top 10 Final Fantasy Spin-Offs.
I think Dr Cid and Hojo atleast deserved honorable mentions Dr Cid was the first evil cid and Hojo is the reason half the messed up stuff in final fantasy VII happened. He's like a scientific Little finger
Honestly the thing that makes Kefka the best is that he hits you where you live. You LAUGH at what he's doing, because he's so genuinely FUNNY, and then you realize holy crap I'm laughing at atrocities I'm a monster! The best villains are the ones who stay with you after the game is off.
CanuckEhh there doing ff7 cause it was the game that really made final fantasy a popular game franchise around the world. its like the dragonball z of video games. its not the greatest but its still pretty damn good and is what made alot of people interested in final fantasy
CanuckEhh I think FF6 is fantastic but I don't think it needs to be remade. FF7 needs it because it aged horribly and they added so much story (canon or not). FF6 has so much charm as the last sprite using FF (and plenty of story that hasn't been tampered with) while FF8 actually is pretty polished and artsy(?). FF7 was in between the two and just has a lot of stuff that needs to be fleshed out in my opinion. Would be cool if they did remake it though.
CanuckEhh imo i think 6 and 7 should get a remake. FF6 because all FF with it's lvl of graphics got a remake and it's a decent chance for Square to make sum more money. I have tried to play 6 so many times but stopped not too far in because unfortunately i can't get pass the old graphics and also because I have lost about 70% of my enthusiasm for playing games (my left over 30% is still a decent amount tho). FINAL FANTASY 7 NOW, needs a remake because its a HUGE cashcow, also so many fanboys/girls (like myself) want to play FF7 on the current graphics and have a slightly more polished storyline. Matter a fact, i personally would want Square to make FF7 as an action rpg, you use 1 of 9 (iirc) characters and have the other 2 party members fighting on their own ... turn based is too mundane imo I can play FF7 right now over FF6 because FF7 has decent looking drawn backgrounds and in game sprites look okay enuff for me
An absolute gem of a title. I'm biased towards FFX in every aspect, Seymour was multifaceted as a villain and sometimes ally. His marriage proposal, religious position and greed for domination made him a fine character. The fact he joined the party and his summon is accessible proves his validity in the main storyline, a storyline worthy of the best in video games
Lol? To all those ff7 fanboys, Sephiroth isn't the best lmao. People saying he had the "best development" when it took exposition mid-story to explain his back story and even then, he still remained the same ominous nihilistic and predictable villain till the end. His final fight wasn't too satisfying since most of the problem stemmed from Cloud and his emo tendencies (self-doubt) that lead to the problem rather than Sephiroth himself. The only real drive I had to kill him in the end, as much as I loved one winged angel, was because he killed Aerith. His "development" was in the same league as ExDeath's for gods sakes. He's basically like Zemus from 4. At the end, he was more like a rival (throwing his destroy the world tendencies aside) than actual villain. FF7 was a great game, not the best, but Sephiroth is as interesting as a dead accountant painted brown compared to people like Kefka. Kefka went from that looney general that underwent magitek infusion making him insane, to the one that told soldier's to rub the sand off his feet to the guy that ran away from Sabin like a pussy, then to the guy who established himself as easily the most evil, dangerous and immoral character in FF6. He had way more development. You either love or hate (hate as in the good kind of hate since he's a villain) to see Kefka progress because of his actions like killing an entire kingdom, betraying the sane token-good General Leo, finishing off an entire species that wanted peace, orphaning an entire city of innocent people and modeling the world to his insane image after becoming a mad god. I enjoyed Kefka because of his diabolic nature and the fact that I HATED him more than any other Final Fantasy villain. Sure Sephiroth presents himself as a badass unstoppable type while Kefka is portrayed as a silly evil "in your face" clown, but you get more villain points if I continue to hate you and watching Kefka poison an entire kingdom saying how he enjoys them screaming in unison while laughing beats a guy crying for mama who throws a tantrum around a village. FF6 is one of the best games in the chronological series up there with 4, 9 and 10, if not the best and it along with Chrono Trigger were the pinnacle of JRPGS at the time. Kefka was the perfect antagonist for it. Kefka's final fight, the events that lead up to his climatic end, his final tower, the epic battle with him and his version of the "Divine Comedies" and gods, and that 22 minutes of a tearjerking happy end was way, way more satisfying than a near empty final dungeon with no sub-bosses and one shotting Sephiroth and FF7's "Yeah, we need to make Advent Children so fans understood What the fuck happened after Final Fantasy 7" ending. A good villain isn't marked by how badass they are, they are marked by you wanting them to lose in the end and to see their downfall.
I never expected the cliche villain Vayne Solidor to make the list over FFV's X-Death. I never felt the world of Ivalice was truly threatened like it is by many others on this list. Also, thanks for acknowledging Garland as one of the greats!
I fucking knew it was going to be this lame excuse for a top10. Kefka is absolutely the worst villain in the entire series. He is just a fucking one dimensional moron that is "crazy" and therefore just destroys thing. That's fucking terrible. Sephiroth is also bad but at least he has some standing for what he does. kefka is just a lame excuse when Square couldn't think of anything criative so they just invented this lame excuse of a villain. Also Exdeath is 100 times a better villain than kefka. Also not a single mention of Caius? One of the best villains? A villain that actually has a legit motive? But I always knew these fanbois of the most overhyped game in the series that is VI would rate kefka like this. This isn't a top10, this is just a competition of which villain has the most obnoxious fanbase.
I agree...Sephiroth came close but he didn't actually win. Kefka however... he WON. He destroyed the world. The second half of the game is us actually fixing his victory after everybody had literally given up hope. Even worse...Kefka didn't even fight at full power when he did it. That's why he is the greatest of the FF villians.
Where Is My CAIUSSSSSSS. He Was So Badass!! Kefka Has Destroy By Protagonist. But Caius Is Complete To Release Chaos To The world. He Also Hard Than Kefka.
I love Kuja. Heck, I would even put him at 1, just slightly above Kefka. He has never been defeated by the party, he destroyed not only his world, but all of existence if stupid Necron didn't butt in. People underestimate him, and that's why I'm really glad he got the number 3 spot.
As much as I am in awe of Sephiroth. I agree with Kefka being number one. He's funny and scary at the same time. Makes him a bit unpredictable, therefore engaging.
Kefka is a good example of a sadistic, psychotic, arrogent villain who gets away with anything. I mean he actually destroys the world, becomes a god and lives it for about 20 minutes. While Sephiroth on the other hand is almost a close second to what he has done.
I'm kinda glad Genesis got a mention, he is often forgotten about by a lot of FF fans that I talk to but if he didn't start any drama then things could have gone differently for Sephiroth
I haven't even seen the video or played the games. Kefka or Sephiroth at the top. I'm calling it.
Ashton thornton I haven't seen it too and I can confirm it
Ashton thornton always
Once I saw the thumbnail my first thought was "Sephiroth and Kefka are on top" more or less we are right.
Ashton thornton I was at least hoping Caius would beat Sephiroth, though...
Of course they did put Kefka as number 1. Sephiroth is too "poser", according Mojo...

Ex SoldieR Sephiroth is the most badass, but only one villain has ever succeeded at kicking all the heroes asses and destroying the world and that's Kefka the Joker of the FF universe.
MY NIGGA, KEFKA MOTHERFUCKIN' PALAZO, IS NUMBER 1!!!
Lugz X Caius, from XIII-2, actually prevails. Like, he stands victorious when the credits roll.

Kefka is the Joker of the Final Fantasy universe, probably the greatest JRPG villain ever.
He is Joker with godly power capable of destroying worlds.
GuyWithAnAmazingHat imagine..DEATHBATTLE.. KEFKA VS EMPEROR JOKER!!!
GuyWithAnAmazingHat Each to his own because i personally think Master Xenahort is the Greatest JRPG Villain ever but that is just me
GuyWithAnAmazingHat It did say in Wikipedia that Kefka was even compared similarly to Batman's greatest foe, The Joker. I can see why Kefka was chosen number one for the Final Fantasy villains.
Shame this wasn’t made a few years later. I feel like Ardyn Izunia definitely deserves a spot
Kefka does make sense for #1, but Sephiroth will always be my favorite FF Villain
Agreed!
"Opinion"
He's a close number 2 for me
Indeed
Preach it!
The mispronunciations hurt my soul
Amen!

Seymour GWADO.
Like c'mon, X has voice acting.
Put Kefka,Hisoka & The Joker in a room together and see what happends family get together?
***** that would be glorious
***** They will have the rap battle of histowriee
Ndoelicious no it would be a battle WITH RHYMES! >:L
Whoa, shits just got real
Much murder and some cannibalism
"Kefka is number 1? I'm so surprised!"
-Nobody ever
+TheBagelragel Since when did a top 10 list need to be surprising and unpredictable? The times that they are are when they reveal something that not many people know.
TheBagelragel kefka is the best. Maybe you should play to FF VI
@@Hellsing7747 nah sephiroth is the best and its a fact
@TalXes eh, i respect your opinion
Ardyn is best villain in this series best motivation most powerful achieved all he wanted
So glad they mentioned Genesis
Sameee omggg
Sephiroth is always my favorite. Even he learned the truth of what he is that cause him to become insane and terrifying villain, he still retain his calm and cool personality. Plus, his presence and the way he speak in an ominously quiet tone really gives me a fearful chill.
My favourite is Caius from Final Fantasy XIII 2 though. The most tragic villain in my point of view.
Do FF13-2 on NCU, Caius is worse than in LR ^^ Low level Challenge is easy.
Caius is the most underrated villain in the series given him being in 13-2 but definitely my favorite as well
Same m8
Michael Moua And not to mention killing espers? Non human spirits
Sephiroth destroyed planets..
Sephiroth is better to me because I like character development and story, which is rare for FF villains. But Kefka is good at being pure evil.
+Christian Lampley yeah on being an actual villain, Kefka is a lot more villainous. Sephiroth is a lot more badass though.
Sephiroth my favorite final fantasy bad guy, but not my favorite final fantasy 7 character.
Agreed. Sephiroth takes the cake. His darkness is truly understood. It's almost like the person you couldn't save from falling off a cliff.
Brent Heuser He feels sees, and there fore is a strong darkness, but thats only for realizing where he came from. If he didnt let it get to him he very well could of still been good. Kefka was just evil through and through. You are what you make yourself though.
I have to play VII, Sephiroth looks like a badass character
Kefka to sephiroth : " You are so dangerous on so many levels" quoted from dissidia
Wow, didn't expect Vayne to be on this list. I feel like FF XII is constantly overlooked (which is a damn shame since it's actually one of my favourite FF games) - so kudos, watchmojo
Just finished FFXII. Vayne really surprised me. The most intense final battle ever. Epic.
YOu and me both. Hes my favorite FF villain. Very multilayered and complex, and perhaps the most political.
That damn Kefka. His laugh made my day.
he is the joker of the final fantasy series
Gary Umstead HE'S HILARIOUS!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Kuja is the most lovable bad guy in FF for me. I am glad he got #3
Wait Garland was in another game? Holy... Garland was also in FFIX but he wasn't really a true villian unlike Queen Anne or Kuja in the game. He really didn't do much.
@@AJ42K IX Garland and I Garland are two different characters who just share a name. FF tends to do that
Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!!!
Poor Bologna Sandwich.
best comment so far xD
I swear to god if i ever get to play FF5 and i am unable to not call him Bologna Sandwich it will be your fault :D
frozenaorta I know. As much as I love Sephrioth and Kefka, I also love ExDeath. I mean, even he had the same drive for destruction as Kefka. Even he was insanely powerful. It's a shame he only got an honorable mention.
M
frozenaorta BOLOGNA SANDWICH???!!!! NO
I appreciate that you pronounced Kefka's name correctly!!!!! Bless you!!
Woohooo!!! Kuja managed to get #3!!! FFIX all the way!!!
AkibaMCRGrenias I LOVE KUJA!!!!
Kuja was very creative and is super underestimated unlike Sephiroth. He was a tough mofro to beat. I'm happy Kuja finally got some respect. Ultimecia isn't any better. I'm shocked she wasn't higher.
@@EvelynL.1112 Kuja was one tough mofro to beat. He was NOT easy.
Oh good call on Wiegraf!
He had such an amazing fall from grace in Final Fantasy tactics. There is nothing more human then a Villain created on the weaknesses of humanity.
I know XIII-2 was terrible but C'mon Caius Ballad was a really awesome and powerful villain., yet they don't even give him an honorable mention.
Blackflare71 Bartandelous was better. Caius Ballad was sort of a rip off of Sephiroth (like Seymour and how the Advent Children were clones of Sephiroth).
Gackt4awesome Not really. Caius had a real compelling reason to do what he was doing, not because he was evil.
Gackt4awesome Barthandelous/Dysley sounds a lot like Alan Rickman with all that mincing. Eoooooooooh.
*****
Not really.
>Wants to separate Yuel from Etro's grip
>Decides to destroy Etro (instead of asking her to release Yuel and finding someone else to take her place)
>Tries to have the heart of Chaos stabbed by Noel (even though I would think Etro could rip it out of him regardless)
>Only realizes he fucked up 500 years AFTER when Yuel and all her reincarnations will not be put to rest.
Gackt4awesome Caius should've been a more humorous baddie who gloats all the time but could a better chance of coming off as pathetic and likely sympathetic.
Gonna call it before I watch-
Sephiroth is #2, Kefka Palazzo is #1.
Top 10 Final Fantasy Villains
1. Kefka Palazzo
2. Sephiroth
3. Kuja
4. Garland
5. Vayne Solidor
6. Maester Seymour Guado
7. Ultimecia
8. Wiegraf Folles
9. Emperor of Palamecia
10. Zemus/Zeromus
Honorable Mentions
- Gilgamesh
- Exdeath
- Seifer
- Barthandelous
- Genesis Rhapsodos
Seymour is such a great villain, his music is awesome as well! HE is just so well-developed, I think the voice actor did phenomenal!
+Jacob Teague I thought he sounded like Winnie the Pooh.
madcap830 Lol!
+madcap830 He did, that's what made him so creepy! LoL!
Now here's an interesting resent villain, and that is Final Fantasy 15 Ardyn Izunia.
ffXV sucks. Horrible game!!!!!
Capra Demon you also suck. horrible person!
@@victorabysswalker3909 you mean roblox? Sure roblox sucks but 15 is hands down best game
I thought Kuja should be number 1 considering how he literally destroyed all of existence. Plus I loved how poetic he was.
pikapee!
I love Final Fantasy and my favorite villians are Sephiroth, Seymour's annoying ass, Kuja, and Kefka.
My Most Favorite Final Fantasy Villains from my Childhood years are:
1. Garland (Final Fantasy I)
2. Emperor Mateus (Final Fantasy II)
3. Cloud of Darkness (Final Fantasy III)
4. Golbez (Final Fantasy IV)
5. Exdeath (Final Fantasy V)
6. Kefka Palazzo (Final Fantasy VI)
7. Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII)
8. Ultimecia (Final Fantasy VIII)
9. Kuja (Final Fantasy IX)
10. Jecht (Final Fantasy X)
11. Kam'lanaut (Final Fantasy XI)
12. Gabranth (Final Fantasy XII)
13. Caius Ballad (Final Fantasy XIII)
14. Zenos yae Galvus (Final Fantasy XIV)
15. Ardyn Izunia (Final Fantasy XV)
16. Barnabas Tharmr (Final Fantasy XVI)
And, there you have it. These are My Most Favorite Final Fantasy Villains from my Childhood years I Respect and Appreciate.
I think Caius is more impressive then Barthandelous but then again it is just my opinion
caius is my second favorite character in all ff besides sazh I liked 13s story better than most games but the characters were amazing to me
It’s the opinion of many.
Kefka will always be the best for me. Kuja is pretty good too.
BaoZakeruga well kefka was inspired by the joker one of the greatest villians of all times
honestly caius is my favourite, and yeah, i played them all.
Great list, knew Kefka and Sephiroth would be 1 and 2 haha both are awesome :)
I really think Caius Ballad is missing. He is such a complex character.
+Zeras light At the very least he should supplant Barthandelus in the honorable mentions.
I was THIS close to pull a rant against you WM for letting out FFT so many times out of your FF countdowns, but came around with Wiegraf. FFT is one of the best written videogames ever.
Can't believe Caius wasn't even on this list :/
Ah Kefka, you basically are the answer to a what if scenario of if the Joker ever gained super/magical powers.
It is sad that Caius Ballad was not mentioned in the list. =/
from 6 and under not worth a video mention in my opinion maby an age thing but from 7 -10 these games feel like my whole life and i havent completed them all fully and i dont remember them fully but hearing music or seeing scenes from these games takes me back and makes me feel so emotional i love that
Caius isn't on the list? interesting...
IBlackSanta Because of butthurt XIII hatedom.
I liked him and also Arden
Technically he's not even a villain though, more like a hero behind the scenes.
@@Serinigalini I can see that...fighting for yeul
Whoever is the narrator of this video needs to keep making videos for watchmojo mans literary part of my child hood
since god of war was remastered, i think there should be a top ten kratos moments, not just violence, but what defines him as a character.........................aaaaaaaaand the biggest badass ever
Great List. Final Fantasy 7 followed by 10 then 15 I would say are my favourites. Can't wait for 7 remake. Hope it defines the entire franchise and puts everything the original is remembered for. Hard game 7 jeez it's epic, very hard act to follow!
I personally found Genesis to be much cooler and more interesting than Seymour and X is my favorite FF
Sephiroth will all was be my number 1 villain !
I can't stand how this guy pronounces these names...
"Gwado?"
Rick Scott IKR! Dissidia basically told people how to pronounce names.
Right! Its Ulti-MEESh-ia
Rick Scott yea, that one bugged me, especially when they tell you how to pronounce it in the game
I wonder if WatchMojo.com is hiring lol
He mispronounces everything... Ugh I just can't
One of My Most Favorite FF Villains I can truly Respect and Support are:
1. Garland (FF I)
2. Emperor Mateus (FF II)
3. Cloud of Darkness (FF III)
4. Golbez (FF IV)
5. Exdeath (FF V)
6. Kefka Palazzo (FF VI)
7. Sephiroth (FF VII)
8. Ultimecia (FF VIII)
9. Kuja (FF IX)
10. Jecht (FF X)
11. Kam'lanaut (FF XI)
12. Gabranth (FF XII)
13. Caius Ballad (FF XIII)
14. Zenos yae Galvus (FF XIV)
15. Ardyn Izunia (FF XV)
These guys here are definitely THE Best of the Best Epic Badass FF Villains throughout the years in the making of FF franchises I can definitely get used to! They're all No.#1 in my books!
Why not Caius from ff13-2, his damn voice...
EikNachuiKRC He doesn't exactly sound like Megatron from Beast Wars, who was... smooth, charismatic, yes.
Caius' voice is from a number of series.
Naruto as Gaara for one
Kain from FF4
A Shit ton of Anime.
His voice is so cool.
EikNachuiKRC it was one of many voices liam'o'brian was borm to play
EikNachuiKRC As much as I love FFXIII-2, he is not a very memorable character, plus his weapon design sucked
Nobody wants to hear my jokes. T_T
4:17 when your sibling deletes your loaded save in final fantasy
😂😂😂
Pretty sure that I'm the less than one percent here, but anyone else thinks Hojo should've been on the list?
Anyone? No one? Alright
Akashi Nano I do. The man experimented on his own son and even took over Weiss.
Akashi Nano He is on WatchMojo's Top 10 Video Game Mad Scientists at #4.
Hojo is the definition of evil guy,but come on...let's not make this shithead famous,he didn't deserved this... ;-):-)
Time to do the video again with ffxv's villain. Such a great one
Actually JENOVA (FF7) should have been #1, an alien being of unknown power that is capable of conquering planets and dominating the inhabitants, even death doesn't stop it from wreaking havoc (FF7 Advent Children).
Yes I agree with that logic.
Spud Gun Agreed. Jenova was boring.
Daniel Babineau Jenova herself doesn't really have a personality so shes not overly interesting, however the Jenova story line is what pushes the game forward and makes it more interesting to learn about.
Barthandelous was a very interesting villain I found
Another thing that makes Kefka such an awesome villain is that there is that he's down to the core an awful person with no redeeming qualities.
+Mia Exactly and anyone who thinks Sephiroth should be number one is an idiot. Kefka totally earned his spot on this list.
+Mia The power of being the first Magiknight experiment broke his mind.
I know this video was made only 5 years ago...
but God do I want to see Emet Selch on this so much
Kefka is just the best villain of all time period. Video games, movies, tv. Kefka still gives me fucming nightmares
Kato86 Exdeath was such a great villain and only got an HM, really sad.
Kato86 FFV is a good game, but its story is very barebones. Exdeath barely has any defining characteristics besides "MWUHAHAHA! I'M EVIL!"
DodgeThisBam Brother? o.O
Eh, anyway, yes, FFTA had an often underestimated plot.
XD
i am glad, definetly Kefka is the best villain in FF series, not a emo semi good or bad, just plain evil
Magnus Theli He's also been the most successful FF Villain.
While Sephiroth had the world at the brink of the end, Kefka manage to cause the End of the World, killing millions. Just goes to show you what's more terrifying, an Intimidating Planning Master, or a Psychotic Unpredictable Madman?
tails230 dude ripped the earth in half
Kefka better be 1
his laugh....
no boss in all games can beat him even hitler
glad i'm not the only one.
To be fair, Kefka is one of the few villains who won, in which I mean he set a goal and completed it.
so does sephirot
kefka num.1 ? finally a mojo list i agree with
Nicole Schadenfreude Kefka is already number one in WatchMojo's Top 10 FF Characters, Top Ten FF Villains, and Top Ten Video Game Murderous Psychopaths(?)
I respect this list as well as you pronounce the names of people.
A little disappointed there was no mention of Caius Ballad. But other than that, an obvious outcome
8:40 - To this day, around 20 years after playing FFVI for the first time... that laugh still haunts me. Kefka was the first videogame villain I truly hated. Glad to see he's top dog in this list. Thanks for the video.
More Final Fantasy Top 10s are always good. Do the following:

Top 10 Final Fantasy Summons.
Top 10 Final Fantasy Ultimate Weapons.
Top 10 Final Fantasy Heroines.
Top 10 Final Fantasy Spin-Offs.
NES Garland: "I Garland, will knock you all down!!"
Ultimacia for sure my favorite. Her story is insane, and having Griever as a GF makes it that much more meaningful.
Sephiroth & Kefka all the way. My close 3rd favorite is Seymour from the 10.
Great video, this list is right on the money!
IKR!! They should have Remake FF6 first..
CanuckEhh there doing ff7 cause it was the game that really made final fantasy a popular game franchise around the world. its like the dragonball z of video games. its not the greatest but its still pretty damn good and is what made alot of people interested in final fantasy
Alex Mansfield I know it's the most popular.. it's only a wishful thinking in my part..
CanuckEhh
oh not to worry its coming
Matter a fact, i personally would want Square to make FF7 as an action rpg, you use 1 of 9 (iirc) characters and have the other 2 party members fighting on their own ... turn based is too mundane imo
I can play FF7 right now over FF6 because FF7 has decent looking drawn backgrounds and in game sprites look okay enuff for me
I can't believe cauis ballad wasn't mentioned I think Seymour should be higher and sin should have been mentioned to
Comments: 45% Kefka vs Sephiroth fights. 1% mentioning Hitler. 54% agreeing with +watchmojo.com
A good villain isn't marked by how badass they are, they are marked by you wanting them to lose in the end and to see their downfall.
who cares stfu
Bravo (claps) this was a very good analysis on the characters don't listen to idiots.
I actually did. wall of text but it was a good read. so you should be the one stfuing bitch boy.
Kefka's maniacal laugh was the evilest shit I've ever heard in a video game
kefka rules.........and its the only villian who fulfilled is plans, (after, we should go to kick his ass and back all to "normal").
Glad Exdeath got an honorable mention, but no Cloud of Darkness? What a shame. Watch Mojo you shall be sent to Void for this.
I just started playing my first final fantasy game FFX The Age of the Zodiac and That Miguel moment gave me a good chuckle.
Where Is My CAIUSSSSSSS. He Was So Badass!! Kefka Has Destroy By Protagonist. But Caius Is Complete To Release Chaos To The world. He Also Hard Than Kefka.
Nice list. It's a tough call Kefka vs. Sephiroth
it's either kefka or sepiroth... again...
Like always
aceparker25 and always
DasKame AAAAAAAAAAAAAND always
Zakaria Brow But really, who else would it be?
catmani2 No one, because OF COURSE it would be Sephiroth or Kefka. No one can even hold a candle to them as villains.
I love Kuja. Heck, I would even put him at 1, just slightly above Kefka. He has never been defeated by the party, he destroyed not only his world, but all of existence if stupid Necron didn't butt in. People underestimate him, and that's why I'm really glad he got the number 3 spot.
I'm glad Kefka was one there hes probably one of my favorites uwu
As much as I am in awe of Sephiroth.
I agree with Kefka being number one.
He's funny and scary at the same time. Makes him a bit unpredictable, therefore engaging.
Umm anyone here Sephiroth 2020?
I totally guessed the top two right! On another note, I'm glad to see a Tactics villain on the list :)
Totally agree! FF6 is the best history in all the FF saga!
Kefka is a good example of a sadistic, psychotic, arrogent villain who gets away with anything. I mean he actually destroys the world, becomes a god and lives it for about 20 minutes. While Sephiroth on the other hand is almost a close second to what he has done.
I never understand why so many people like Kefka so much. I found him to be one of the least interesting villains from FF.
+ProgHead89 read the comment from FF 6 Fanboys, and you will know why Kefka get more like
He left a mark on me. If a villain can do that, then THAT was a good villain.
I'm kinda glad Genesis got a mention, he is often forgotten about by a lot of FF fans that I talk to but if he didn't start any drama then things could have gone differently for Sephiroth
