We hope you enjoy this video 'Fly on the wall' style - Iona takes to the range at Crans Sur Sierre to work on TEMPO and TIMING! Кино
Do you know Iona it’s fabulous watching you as you don’t complicate things. You explain things so simply that it’s easy to understand. So many coaches over complicate things.
Some great tips particularly taking the club away slowly and smoothly. It feels a lot of videos talk about speed and you feel the need to start fast when in fact the opposite is true.
Beauty and discipline. Great combination. ❤
Iona, I am so grateful that you provide a solid mark for young women and indeed young men to aim at. You are a great ambassador for the best game in the world. Love your attitude, professionalism, and dedication. Leaders lead. Wonderful to see.
I learned today after watching this video, after 45 years of playing this game, that I should really only focus on ONE thing (club) in a range session….then digest and walk away! THANK YOU FOR THAT!❤
This helped me tremendously with both irons and driver. Thanks for being so down to earth and simplifying your routine.
It's good to see someone else spitting on their clubs. Great video. All kinds of insight. I don't care if it's like hearing my internal monolog. It sounds best coming from you.
Thanks for sharing. I also struggle with my driver and have for a few years as I've aged. I will definitely be trying your tips 👍
I really enjoyed watching you do this we all get so fast on our take away good job
Heartening to see someone as young and fit as you puffing at the end 😉. Very helpful content Iona 👍.
This is exactly what all of us needs to do, let the club drop in front of the body instead of rushing/throwing it at the ball. So hard to do without a lot of reps. Nicely done! and very well explained.
Love your channel! You are so calm about explaining your practice swings. Just listening to you smooths my tempo.
I always visualize the Korda sisters swing to emulate their tempo. Now I use you as my Tempo coach. THANKS 👍btw what a View!
Loved this one. Had a go at this past few days and has helped with my tempo … 🙌🏻
HI Iona. Just have to say your videos are really excellent at explaining things in a very straightforward way. This video in particular has REALLY helped me to straighten out driver off the tee, and actually be in play for a change!! Many many thanks and all the very best to you and your channel.
Oh my god this is exactly what I needed - my driving has been terrible and I’m definitely whipping it away too quickly.
Will give this a go!
Thanks for the educational and fun videos Iona, enjoy them. I happen to be a retired hand surgeon in USA and of course have noted your comments about your wrist injury and surgeries; hope you continue to feel better and are able to enjoy your golf and other activities. Sorry you've been through so much. I do notice you use regular adhesive tape and worry that might inflame you skin. You might try some of the non adhesive type wraps; Some common types are Coban wrap are athletic (ankle sprain) prewrap. "Foam sport underwear"; "3M self adherent sports wrap." Hope it feels better.
Love the slow take asway...for myself, I am a big fan of Nelly Korda as well as Iona. I do a bit of hovering and like to put the ball off my front foot big toe to get the hit on the upswing...for that 20 extra yards of distance. Thanks Iona for sharing.
Hi Iona, I love the way you present and deliver the information, almost in digestible chunks which as an amateur golfer is really helpful; you can just work on different parts of the video and then move on to the next stage when you feel you’re ready. Having had 4 surgeries: both shoulders and elbows, it’s hard to find rhythm and flexibility so anything you can suggest for less flexible people is very welcomed. Keep posting, they’re great 👍🏾
Thanks for this, Iona. My range sessions are always a struggle with that "drag and hit" routine you mentioned. I try to recreate all the good things I hope I do when I play.🤞 Stand behind the ball, pick a target, step in and perform. Range sessions are what proofs the pudding. It's great to get your insights on making the most of practice time.
Such a relaxing informative videos. Really so refreshing and friendly that it feels like a one to one session. Wish it was!!
This was excellent and a great reminder about tempo. I’ll be trying this drill as I have a billion swing thoughts with my driver, going back to basics may help.
I like these right at the start. I just know they're gonna be good. thank you
Great tips there! Slowing down my driver swing is the thing I work on most. Feels like a pause at the top, but it's really just allowing my body to get in sync before the downswing sequence. As you said, slowing down the backswing allows the through swing to be faster--confirmed with a launch monitor. My natural tendency is to be too quick.
I really appreciate how you talk through the process of your approach to training, specific details in the drill and what you are working on during the range session. This helps me learn how to frame up the time spent on the range to try and diagnose my swing and identify what I want to achieve. Thanks so much!
Funny coincidence, I was just booking some more lessons with my pro and mentioned how sweet Iona’s timing was to him and how I’d like to replicate that in my swing, which is all outta whack again….timing and quality of strike are so much more valuable than power!
Like the tip with the gentle rolling away of the ball. As my golf guru told me "Away low and slow" :-) Thanks for the advice. :-)
Great video! I am a fan already...
I reverted back to this vlog as I am having issues with the New Titliest Driver. My old Titliest Driver works a dream and need to reset. That is what I am hoping this vlog will do for me!!! Fingers crossed....... THANKS Iona..
By far the best video I watched in a while
Great content. I also need to fix my weight transfer so more time at the range and examples like this are perfect.
Great video production! You and your crew are doing such a great job of making the “lesson” feel so natural like we are just standing next to you. So comfortable and relaxed. Good job team, producer, camera, editing and Iona, from a person who has been there with video production.
Interesting drill. Never saw it before. Will give it a try. Thanks!
Thanks, enjoyed the video. "Just want to give the club the chance to do what it wants to do" is a great quote. The "ball" drill is a clever idea. Shall give it a go.
Such easy, great tips. Your content is really good, come on subscribers.
I agree wholeheartedly with Looprevil. Your commentary is so logical and to the point. So many times I have watched an instruction video because the headline sounded interesting or helpful and they never get to that topic. Good video.
Thrilled that you are putting out great content. Love your stuff and how you simplify things for common players.
❤ thank you awesome to watch your swing
I agree, simple and effective, I watched another RUclips coach talking about rhythm and I realised I was taking the club away too quickly, wonderful to see a drill to assist. Got to say I think your channel is up there with the very best golf options, please keep the diversity between professionals, fun golfers and hints, different class!
Great tips, great process and so well communicated. Many thanks!
Iona! That was a Great session! Loved watching it! I've gotten away from doing some of the things you do there, just been hitting , gotten away from practicing with a purpose in mind! Thanks!
Thank you for sharing these gems, very kind and very generous. 👏🏾👏🏾🙏🏾
Love your work Iona. Thank you so much.
Fabulous swing tempo and results. I’m currently in a driver slum and I really need this tempo.
I'm loving these videos from you, in particular. Not too technical but positive practice with a purpose. I'm not skilled enough to diagnose my own faults without lessons but this is something I'm sure many would benefit from. I'll need to get my wife to start watching a few of your videos, too; she's just starting on her golf journey.
As far as hitting off mats go, these mats look a dream to hit off. Love these vids Iona!
Fantastic driver drill, with the second ball. So helpful. Thank you.
This is so helpful! Really getting me thinking about how best to use my time at the range and be able to measure progress. So often I just rock up and hit!
The taping of the wrist is a must for you as you have documented here. I have ECU tendonopathy in my left (lead) wrist caused by bad swings (flipping) and over use of driving range mats. I notice you tape above the Ulnar head bobbly bit, what injury did you initially have before the arthritis set in. Great video Iona as usual, absolute gold for us mid-handicappers. Much Love ❤
I really like the simplicity of your explanation about what and why you are doing the practice. On another coincidence, I am setting off from the UK by car to go hiking in Switzerland and I really hope the weather you have stays for the next week!!
Really like the way you explain what your working on, how you’re working on it and why you’re doing these particular things. Nothing complicated, just good information.
Great video, the driver drill with the second ball is so simple but really effective and pure magic. What a view from the range as well you could practice there very easily.
Absolute gem of a drill for the take away. Playing well, but I quicken up when I'm chasing a score and this helps massively. Ty
Love the simplicity of the session … like the thinking - especially around the fundamentals like posture 🏌️♂️⛳️🏴
Thank you Iona, I really needed this vid to help with my driver, I have exactly the same problems as you, I’ll definitely put this into my practice from now on! 😀
Timed the release of this video to perfection too. I’m working on this and “purposeful practice”. At the moment, just had a lesson last week on my driver and my setup /alignment and now trying to get some consistency from it.
Great videos Iona, simple explanation and delivered in a relaxed and polished manner.
Great video, Iona, and a very good insight as to how the pro goes around a certain issue.
Will take that to my next session as I do get far tooooo quick with the big stick !!!!
Keep up the great videos in between the presenting and course coms !!!!
Thanks Iona! Really learned a lot about how to have a productive practice session with my he Driver. Right now I am not consistent and try to hit it too hard. I believe I get off plane. I liked the ball drill to slow down the back swing with the driver. Your swing looks really good! Take care!!
Amazing vid. So much heart in it. Love it! More tips please Iona!
Watched the video yesterday and took the takeaway drill to the course today and had much better drives. And like you, that resulted in a much better score! Thanks for the great videos, they are quite enjoyable. Cheers.
Really useful tips on how to structure your valuable practice time. I never use alignment sticks on the range. I'm definitely going to start. 👍
Excellent drill thanks this one. I was lucky enough to be at the Omega masters and you are right, the views are breathtaking. What a place
I watched this video yesterday and what a great help it is. The tip with the ball behind the driver and just brushing it away was mind blowing. I tried it today at my Saturday medal and shot a 78 which for me who plays off 18 is a great score. Thank you Iona 👍🏻👍🏻.
I’ve been getting consistently worse off the tee for weeks now. I tried the ball behind the club with driver and what an improvement almost straight away ! Saves me the cost of a lesson so I can spend the money on a visit to the Chiro ! 😅 thanks Iona 🎉
Thanks Iona. Brilliant video. My biggest takeaway from it, no pun intended, is the way you maintain a relaxed approach to every shot so you don’t add too much stress to the body. That has helped my game so much. Ohh, and great to see even the most cultured amoung us use the spit and clean method. 👍🏻😉
Beautifully disciplined
Great video and tip bits ❤😊😊
That was some fantastic teaching , I’m going to use this to help my kids on their game and mine as well thankyou 21:04
Loved it , thanks.
So many great tips. Thank you
Great video. Love it.
Fun watching this, well played
I think you are realy good. Thanks for the drills. Take care
Brillant. Just brillant !
You're something else. Love it.
Loving it all, thanks Iona.
Thanks for this drill. I have the same issue so will give it a try.
I admit to being a 'turn up and play' golfer and been quite reluctant to spend time and money on the practice grounds. I've been inspired by your straightforward and easy to follow drills and am seeing improvement on the course - not at home 😅
Another great video Iona🙌
That driving range is probably the most scenic range in the world
Wow. Hitting down that range, I might not care how the ball flies! What a backdrop.
Very interesting point with woods about it being shallower and more round your body and less tight, my 3 wood has been hit about 10 times in 3 years, I was struggling with driver but try to feel like hands don't get higher than the shoulder in the back swing and has massively helped so this could be my fix with 3 wood as well.
Very similar to the drill demonstrated by Mickey Wright on Shell’s wide world of golf. She used a tee peg to ensure as wide a back swing as possible.
Love the Mickey Wright reference.
The altitude training looks energy sapping, let alone hitting so many Bombs with driver!
Driver nearly broke me today. Went to the trusty 3 wood fairway finder. 😊
You are so cool how you explain things. (Full stop)
Thank you for the video that was excellent
Great video other way of starting slower is to move the butt end away first that helps slow down the takeaway
Many thanks ions love these golf tips more please 😂😂😂😂
Great video.
The 3 ball reset is going to be the norm for me from hereon.
It all made perfect sense.
I could listen to Iona talking all day.
(Is she married?? 🤓😆)
Very calm and relaxed, which can help matters when changing a swing tempo?! 👌
Good tip to push back ball at backswing to remember proper takeaway.
I got my irange, will be hitting the driving range this week. Cheers, Iona!
Yesterday I played Woodland at Glencoe for the first time, and this reminds me of that setting, but without the pyons...
Those mountains in the background...
Great content 👍🏻
it's spring here in massachusetts and i'm going to range today too for a couple hours.
This is timely for me, as I can get quick with the driver and it results in hooks. A few shot tracers would have been terrific in order to see your ball flight.
Lord save me...this drill might actually force me to slow down!
Good work.
I was taught to do an ultra fast takeaway so that I naturally have a lot of active movement in the driver swing without the ability to steer things. The low slow take away is hated by my instructor. You’re a pro though so I’m sure you’re right. Time to change instructors me thinks
Don’t normally practice my driver as i hate the rubber tees at driving ranges but I think I might try this routine and see how it goes cheers Iona
