  • If you are headed to Italy, you can't miss Sicily. And if you are in Sicily, you MUST go to Mount Etna! In this video, I offer tips and advice on how to have an amazing day trip to Mount Etna. My friends and I opted for the 10 mile out-and-back hike. With 4,366 ft (1331 m), of elevation gain, it was definitely a challenge! If that sounds like too much, you can take a chairlift halfway or the chairlift and a 4x4 vehicle to make it most of the way. In this video I have included the updated 2023 pricing for the chairlift and 4x4 transport. No matter how you get there, enjoy being above the clouds and the beautiful views of Sicily! If you have any questions, leave them in the comments and I'll do my best to answer!

Thanks for the informative video with lot of practical information.
I’m little confused as to how to get a guide to go up to summit craters.
    1. Where can I get a guide? I mean at the visitor centre, at the top cable car station or after getting down the 4x4 bus?
    2. Are the guides available by the time we arrive by bus? (Most tour companies start tours very early and cannot make it by bus).

If you want to get to the summit craters I would look at booking that ahead of time via google search. There are plenty of guides that will greet you in the parking lot but not all of them do the crater tours.

Hello, Thank you for the great video. Do you perhaps know how long it takes (approx) to get to the 9600 ft using the skilift and 4x4? We are on a very tight schedule , but would like to make the most of it. If we want to get to the top, does the guided tour starts from 9600 ft or do we have to arrange it at the very start?

I would allow yourself three to four hours to get up and explore a bit. You can arrange a guide at the bottom before the lift.

Would be a huge clutch if you are quick to respond. But on that map it shows that you went all the way up, is that some old gootage or did something change, when did you do the hime and what about those prohibited zones?

There is nobody there to monitor how high you go. Be safe though 👍

Do you know if it is possible to rent footwear at the cable car (either bottom or 2500m ) ?

I don’t know about that one... As long as you have closed toe shoes you should be ok. In the video I showed the guy going up in flip flops but I wouldn’t recommend that ☺️

@@TylerTownsendTravel thanks. I have basic street footware, didn’t have room to psck my regular hiking gear unfortunatelly. Anyway, don’t plan to reach the summit, just walk around for an hour or so from where the cable car leaves me. I guess i’ll find out 😀
