    Hey, mate. Thanks for the info. What would you suggest for a father which is travelling alone with a 2,5 yo boy?How far can I get with him without being a hassle (with probably a tour)?

      You can certainly go on top of the cable car, it's actually great fun for kids. Then it's really up to you. You can take the 4x4 bus as I did in the video, that's easygoing. From there you can do an easy walk around led by the guide. The other crater on the way back requires a bit of a climb which I would not do with a 2y old kid but you can easily skip that. WHerever you go you will have an amazing view. Enjoy

    2023 prices: parkİng € 7, Gondola return € 50, snow-cat-bus € 39.
    Last gondola 15:50 and last snow-cat-bus about 2 hours before that -- so get there early!
    Not busy in March but still snow on the ground and wet underfoot due to running water from the snow-melt.
    Budget option: go to the Silvestri craters, which are a 5 min walk from the road at the car park level.

    Thank you. I’m choosing between summit trekking to 3350m and 3000m from the other side. The tour organizer says the scenery is quite different which makes it difficult to decide

      The guide is right. The other side has less people around being not as popular and accessible. They are both fantastic

    Very well explained Stefano. We are going there this summer, (but not all the way up to the peak) on a guided tour, but knowing now that there is a bus option after the Gondola makes me rethink that we might choose to go all the way to the top anyway. All depends if we find such a tour which offers the bus option after leaving the Gondola and not just trekking.

      Thanks 😁 you probably need reservations only in peak season, between 15th of July and 15th of August. Enjoy your trip

    Is it necessary to reserve a guide in advance for this hike or can I just show up? Grazie

    • @StefanoFerro
      @StefanoFerro  4 месяца назад

      I would book for a one to one guide. Otherwise, just show up. I would book in mid-July to August, the peak season

      Thank so much for the quick response and this very helpful video.
      What do you mean by one on one tour?
      We will visit in the last week of June & will have a rental car. I prefer to be more flexible and not book a „big“ tour where u meet a guide & other people somewhere in the city and start traveling up to Etna (gondola & bus) all together.
      What is the name for the hike (destination) you did? Grazie

    • @StefanoFerro
      @StefanoFerro  4 месяца назад

      @isabellnorris8265 yeah, sorry, let me explain better. Renting a car is a fantastic idea. There is only one way up. You arrive at the gondop base and buy a ticket for the summit. This means, cable carl, then 4x4 bus to a mid point and then there is a group guide that takes the bus group (20 people) to a further point. That's what you have seen in the video.
      Alternatively you can book a guide just for you (1-to-1). It costs considerably more but you can arrange the day you want

      www.centrometeoitaliano.it/meteo/sicilia/catania/etna+rifugio+sapienza/ is a good source. Keep in mind that things can change very quickly, so dress in layers 😜 enjoy your trip

    Nice video😊Do they make problems when you fly a drone there?

    • @StefanoFerro
      @StefanoFerro  5 месяцев назад +1

      Not based on my experience, just 2 suggestions. You would require a permit. If you don't have one, take extreme caution 😉 . Don't land on the magnetic volcanic ash. It would very likely damage the drone

      @@StefanoFerro where do I Can score a permit in Italy?

    • @StefanoFerro
      @StefanoFerro  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@stefanvdh7658 It depends on the size of your drone. I suggest checking out drone-laws.com/drone-laws-in-italy/ a good place to start investigating. For the permit, you should check www.enac.gov.it/
