John Goodman's performance in 10 Cloverfield Lane is soo underrated. He's scary and unsettling to see
I doubt you could ever get a bad performance out of him.
He made me uncomfortable through the entire film. The aliens? Not at all. Being stuck in a room with him? Spray me down, aliens, spray me down.
Stardust is VERY underrated, it's a fabulous film!
I actually love Stardust
Same! It was a lot of fun to watch!
Stardust is underrated, she’s a great villain.
Stardust is such a good movie that no one talks about. I am a huge fan of Neil Gaiman and its one of my favorite stories. Such Princess Bride vibes.
I get that Stardust doesn't measure up to the book, but it's massively underrated.
I like the movie better actually,a rare case.
They have the same skeleton, but the meat and skin are so different you have to go out of the way to compare the two. This was a rare case where I can read the book and watch the movie back to back and not have a kneejerk comparison.
@@freakytostadacartoon Same here. Both my mother (sadly missed - we had same tastes in books, it is fun to share novels to read) and I both watched the film and read the book - we felt the film was more entertaining than the book, characters more fleshed out (especially Lamia in the film being more villainous, and having a showdown scene). Robert DeNero was brilliant as the pirate captain - his crew were a lot of fun.
The movie is alright but it butchered one of the deepest endings of any story of any medium I've ever experienced.
STARDUST is really the 21th century Princess Bride: the film uses AND RESPECT every Fairytale rules and twitches them just enough to make make it look like brand new rules.
Loved “Stardust”! Such a fun movie.
Michael Shannon's General Zod was a more sympathetic and fleshed out take on the villain compared to Terence Stamp's version. And Denethor from the Lord of the Rings movies is one of the few human villains overshadowed by several that were showcased. They both should get more recognition for their character and performances.
Nocturnal Animals is such an excellent film. Every single performance is amazing across the board, but Aaron Taylor-Johnson is truly maniacal and scary as Ray Marcus especially towards the end of the film when he's telling Jake Gyllenhaal's character how he did his wife and daughter.
I'd argue that Goodman's more terrifying in Barton Fink. The hallway scene alone is frightening enough.
John Goodman is just amazing in 10 Cloverfield Lane. That being said, the ending is not a let down if you realize why it is there.
There is a fair bit of nuance for Zod, with a nice subtle moment occurring for Zod when he first confronts Superman, where he's actually upset over Jor-El's death. I like to think time in the Phantom Zone gave him contemplation. And despite killing Jor-El, Zod did respect him.
I’m so happy to see Koba on this list cause he is such a cool villain.
Goodman is also terrifying in Barton Fink
Michelle Pfeiffer was amazing in Stardust and that movie is absolutely a hidden gem. If you haven't seen it, go find it.
Stardust was an amazing movie.
Jake Gyllenhaal, Lou Bloom, "Night Crawler". Not even an Oscar nomination.
As a note, the book even implies that Denethor's final madness and attempt to murder his son along with killing himself was Sauron pushing him over the final edge so that Gandalf would have to deal with him and thus give his servant the Witch King a chance to escape the wizard, who would just obliterate the Witch King. Of course, this just sent the Witch King to his prophesied end... but ehhh.
Ha-ha-ha, I escaped the White Wizard and...who is this chick? And what does that runt have in his hand? Ah well, I'm sure I have nothing to worry about.
Howard so underrated villain.
Honestly, Man of Steel is a much better movie than it's remembered as. Zod is a huge part of that.
I’m sorry it wasn’t it was completely trash…. Yes they had some great actors for specific roles script was trash
Sometimes the strongest element of a movie is its villain.
@Lee fake comic book reader most likely
@@ehicks13 nah.
@@ehicks13 completely agree ! I really enjoyed this movie
Edward Bailey In RED 2 (2013) One Of The better parts of this sequel
Michelle Pfeiffer will always be one of my 90's crush. 20 years later she's still beautiful.
She is the ultimate goddess! Dangerous Liaisons and The Fabulous Baker Boys are two of my all time favorite movies.
I'm Surprised That The Blind Man In Don't Breathe Isn't On The List
Hopefully, with time, Chef Julian Slowik (Ralph Finnes) from 'The Menu' will become a memorable villain; one of the few villains that actually accomplishes his plan.
This is a great idea for a video 👍
Can I suggest Paul Giamatti's Hertz from Shoot Em Up. He's a Maniacal assassin by way of a mid-corporate sleezebag. His powers of scheming are amazing, and the venom with which he calls out to the hero is spine tingling.
"Are you a man? Or are you just a P*ssy with a gun in his hand?"
"Oh, No Sir. I'm a man....with a p*ssy in my hand"
The thing is that "Shoot Em Up" was so tongue-in-cheek. More of an adult Bugs Bunny cartoon with some very hard edges.
I just re-watched Stardust recently. Very good and very underrated.
What's crazy about this list is that I bought Stardust last week & have yet to watch it.
Do it, you won't regret it.
You should definitely watch it!!! It's quite good!!!
Amazing
I’d add Burke from Aliens.
Denethor isn't a villian. He's a tragic character.
I absolutely adore Stardust!!!!
🤨So we're just going to act like James Macavoy didn't give one of the best performances ever in Glass?
Man of Steel was amazing, from a Superman fan that actually knows more about the character than "he should be smiling" stop 🛑
Love everything about Stardust, both the book and the movie. I didn't care for Quaritch as a villain; he was entirely one-dimensional.
Jake Gyllenhaal in *"Nightcrawler."* Nuff said.
So good because it’s sooo creepy!
I bet James Cameron doesn’t even play video games
Awesome villains list I remember all these villains.
Dent was district attourney.
Zod is miles better than every other DCEU villain, and probably every MCU villain too tbh.
He is not a better villain than Thanos, Killmonger, Loki or even Killgrave and Wilson Fisk
He's not better than Ocean Master
@@blove88 to be fair I think of Loki as more of an antihero than actual villain.
@@blove88 out of your picks, only Kilmonger had a single film to shine, the same as Zod.
Hopefully his turn in The Flash can turn some heads.
Aaron Taylor Johnson, human evil at its best...
The fact that James Cameron thinks that colonel Quaritch is a great villain does not make him such. He is pretty much a cliche military colonel/general, even though well played.
It's so sad how they destroyed Denithor's character in those movies he's not nearly that much of a piece of crap in the books and fact he's not bad at all in the books.
Can't stand seeing Denethor on this list. Turning him into a stock villian was such a waste of a great character from the book.
Joker Heath Ledger. Best ever movie villain.
Mayor turned monster?
I really want Michelle Pfeiffer to play more villains 😉
What about Zemo from Captain America civil war, Mr Glass from Unbreakable trilogy, Sil from Species, Princess Ahmanet from the Mummy, Owen Davian from Mission Impossible 3, Lizzie Cree from the Limehouse Golem and Swan from the Phantom of the Paradise because they probably deserve more attention
No they don’t no one even remembers Zemo was a villain used in the MCU
@@leoalcaraz6153 exactly because he deserves more credit
Col quaritch is a 2 dimensional paint by the number villain and not in a good way; on the other hand Michael Shannon as Zod was awesome it’s the only thing the DCU had over the MCU they had way better villains casting and utilized them better
Mayor?
Ellie? why are we COMPLETELY GASLIGHTING Dawn of Justice...?
Zod was the only good thing in the Snyderverse
Alfred.
Koba is not Ape.
Tom hardy was robbed and should of won an Oscar
Denethor had one of the Silmarillion's the same as Saruman, in which he saw the downfall of Gondor, the visions given to him by Sauron
What? No Nicole Kidman in Paddington??????? I demand a recount.
If you got a movie written by JJ Abrams, directed by Shamala could possibly break the space time continuum
Yeah.
There's only one worse thing
than when they take the love
of your life.
When you do not even get it.
Both are endless pain,
but in the second case
you will have absolutely
nothing.
Nothing even to remember.
In the first case your life is
invalidated after the moment
your love was taken.
In the second case,
your whole life is invalid.
You lived a worthless life.
Congrats.

What help ?
There's no help in a
universe like this.
There's only 2 kinds
of happy people,
the blind and the cruel.
Which 1 are you ?
@@gmlgml780 neither. I reject your false dichotomy. If you have chosen nihilism be it on your own head. But to preach a hateful gospel is to drag others into your pit. You can change. The world wont. Perspectives a mother fucker like thth.

_"... neither. I reject your false dichotom ..."_
Yeah.
False.
I suppose from your attitude
you're the blind.
(At least, you still can be both.)
And you know how to say
blind and cruel with another words ?
It's stupid and psychopath.
_"... If you have chosen nihilism be it on your own head. But to preach a hateful gospel is to drag others into your pit ..."_
Yeah.
There will be cruelty and selfishness there, too.
And I don't choose sh@t. It's just chosen in me.
And it's not nihilism. It is called truth.
And I don't require you
(after your words) to know what that is,
but one day somebody will introduce it
to you.
Prepare for it.
That will be an intense
experience.
_"... You can change ..."_
Yeah.
And why do I not, then,
you idi@t ?
And why am I not the
world ?
_"... The world wont ..."
Yeah.
Exactly.
That's why the universe
must be destroyed.
Only that can be the end of all
suffering.
_"... Perspectives a mother fucker like thth ..."_
Yeah.
Once, the most lovely
creature
what I know on earth
was saying the same.
I am loving her pretty
much.
But you know,
there are only 2 kinds

in a universe like this.
She is one of them.
Steve Rogers in Captain America: Civil War
@@briansullivan5908 Bro, Steve was totally the villain in that film. He acted against the will of the majority of world nations, turned down a completely reasonable offer from Tony to help Bucky instead of jailing him, and all because of his personal belief in his own self-righteousness. Same as Loki, Thanos, Ultron, pretty much every MCU villain.
@@briansullivan5908 Awesome counterpoint
It's weird that you referred to Aaron Eckhart as a Californian. Nobody ever says that.
As fantastic as Stephen Lang was, it just felt lazy to bring him back to Avatar rather than setting up a future villain for the story to better progress.
