What amazes me is how many products Woodland Scenics has innovated in the last 30 years. I used their line when I built train sets as a kid...and I thought their stuff was cool even back then! Boy, what a great layout I could have built with modern scenery materials. The best part about these trees: they are the easiest to make.

Incredible Matt! I still think you need to produce a layout DVD for Woodland Scenics featuring the Woodland Scenics line up including all the latest scenery items and ready made structures. I definitely would purchase one!

I have removed foliage from these trees to give a more irregular, nature look. Additionally, I like the add color high lights. The Autumn Trees are much brighter than I like, so I add some brown and light green ground foam. I have used the dry brush technique on the armature to improve foreground trees.

This is what I have done and the foliage sticks to the hob-e-tack but the outermost parts of the foligae, no matter how much, keeps falling off since its not tacky to itself.

How do you get the clump foliage trees so full? I bought you kit and I cannot get them to look like that. Do you apply another coat of the hobby tac to the first application of foliage then add more foliage?
    Thanks

I want to buy some of the armatures you guys make for my HO scale layout, I want to have some trees in yards in my suburban area and throughout my town, but more wild trees for my wild forests and logging operation area, can you make me some recommendations for what would fit best for these areas? I would also like to throw in some fruit trees. I already have all the turf, and fruit that i apply with scenic cement, but i dont know about the armature species or sizes for my HO layout. Would appreciate any advice you can offer! Thank You! :D

+5dmc1 It all depends honestly of how you think it should look. Modeling any area is only limited to your imagination. However, from our Product Development team, they recommend using things such as our Pine Trees, Conifers, and if you are trying to cover a large area, maybe even the Forest Canopy for a more economic use in your forested area. Suburban areas usually have lighter tree coverage and stand out a bit more. For that we would recommend using trees such as the Walnut, Hickory, or Maple trees. All in all it is your layout and your decision. Usually the modeler knows what is best for their layout. Hope this helps! Good luck and let us know how it turned out by sending us an email: securewoodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/information/ContactUs?

Hello, I'm here because I need help! I bought the deciduous tree kit. Instructions are to paint the branches with hob-e-tac, let it dry clear, apply foliage, and seal with a spray of scenic glue. I did that, but foliage was falling off. So I have sprayed my trees with scenic glue at least four times, letting them dry at least a day in between coats, and the foliage it's still FALLING OFF! Please tell me what I'm doing wrong! Thank you!

The drying time of Hob-e-Tac varies due to environmental conditions and thickness of application. Typically, dry time is between 20-45 minutes. It must be clear before foliage is applied or foliage will not stick. If Hob-e-Tac is white at all, it is not dry and foliage will not apply. Also, make sure the clumps of foliage aren't too large. It will not hold to the adhesive on the armatures if so.
Our recommendation is to apply Hobe-e-Tac on the branches, avoiding the trunk where foliage does not grow naturally. Then, wait for the adhesive to become clear and tacky. After you've torn manageable pieces, pinch the foliage onto the armatures. You could also dip the armature into the foliage as shown in the linked video ruclips.net/video/qtxz5yi9CiI/видео.html

We did not mention Coarse Turf in this video. Are you referring to Fine Turf or another product? If you provide us with a time in the video, we can explain.

+cathal “Frogmire” Devlin Since this is all new to you, we would recommend purchasing a Scene-A-Rama diorama kit. Scene-A-Rama is a Woodland Scenics company, which manufactures scenery products designed to help students make dioramas for school projects. Since what you are talking about is very similar to a diorama, we would suggest the following to get you started:
A Water, Desert, Mountain or Basic Diorama Kit depending on the type of scenery you want. The Basic Kit includes some trees.scenearama.woodlandscenics.com/show/category/BasicKits?tsort=default&perPage=1900&view=grid
You can purchase a Project Base, or you can use a cardboard box cut down and placed upside-down for your base.
A Tree Kit or more trees, if you are wanting to make more woods
      scenearama.woodlandscenics.com/show/category/SARLandscapeor
Make your own trees…here is a how-to video. You can substitute plastic tree armatures (trunks) for branches gathered from your back yard, but still use the Hob-e-tac adhesive and Clump-Foliage shown in the videowoodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/video/MakeATreeYou can purchase these products from our website, however you will get a much better price if you purchase them at your local hobby shop, Michael's or Hobby Lobby store, or find them online
Hope this helps get you started, and if you have any more questions, just let us know.

    • @ModelSceneryExpert
      @ModelSceneryExpert  8 лет назад +2

Hob-E-Tac must dry clear before foliage is applied or it will not stick. If it is still white, it is not dry. Apply Hob-E-Tac to all branches, wait for adhesive to become clear and tacky. Break Clump-Foliage into manageable size pieces and pinch firmly onto branches or dip tree into foliage. If it still is not sticking you may have old or expired Hob-E-Tac.

I just ordered Hob-E-Tac; thank you for the definitive answer on how to use. I bought it specifically to plant strands of WS Harvest Gold grass, and JTT grass on an individual basis. Hopefully the glue holds up (literally).

I think the poly fiber makes the trees look like stocks of broccoli. it is just too full and bunchy and after adding the foam it just looks like a broccoli spear
