- Mystery Mine was the first Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter in the USA when it opened in 2007 and many coaster enthusiasts still consider it to be the best themed thanks to its many special effects and its haunted storyline.
Dollywood is located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
This is the exact same video as the Mystery Mine 3D front seat on-ride POV video we posted for those that cannot view the 3D version on their phone or tablet. Here's the link to the 3D video we posted: • Mystery Mine 3D front ...

“Awe look, a lovely ride”
*30 seconds later*
“Holy crap”
Random Taurus It’s not that bad tho
It's honestly not that intense, this is coming from someone who was terrified to ride the Tennessee Tornado! Mystery Mine is perfect for someone wanting to get more into rollercoaster since it has fun scenery as well as no huge drops or anything. It's really fun :)
Michelle Luna I can see it being scary for people afraid of the dark, including me. I was terrified to ride it at first, and even the second time I was scared. The ride is great, though
Yes! Me and my mom saw this and she said "This looks like a nice little ride!"
When we got off we said "NEVER AGAIN!"
Ikr
One of the most underrated coasters around. I seriously love this ride!
Carter Halfman ehhhhhhh Lightning Rod is superior by far
I hated it
Agreed, this and lightening rod
Bacon Dude36 ngl lightning rod kinda hurts
@@bacondude3696 yes! And thunder head
It's like Big Thunder Mountain and the Mummy had a troubled child.
haha tru
Josh Solomon very true

I worked with the local crew who were contracted to build this Coaster. It was a fun, challenging project to work on, and my first time assisting in the construction of a Coaster.
My main job was as a Special Effects Technician, first building, then installing & testing the SFX and Illussions, specifically the Dynamite Room.
DCF
David Sombody Well, you did a good job!
John Wick kudos to u! Love it!
John Wick aw well thank you for the help! This is an amazing coaster
Do they train local construction workers to help on the project or what? I know Gerstlauer obviously designed the ride, but how do they get workers for the actual construction? Especially on bigger projects like Lightning Rod
Or were the local crewmen only contracted for special effects?
This ride is actually very intense lol
I actually rode this roller coaster. Scared the crap out of me, but it was fun.
Yes, but it hurts!
Yeah i couldnt hear a thing
Matt Collins Yeah. It freaked me out the 1st time I rode it. The 2nd I rode it, it was nearing Halloween at the time, I was still scared to go on it, but not as freaked out as I was the first time.
It wasn't scary for me
It was raining last time I rode this. When we went up the first lift, we got a facefull of rain. :D
+susanrc73 same with me
susanrc73 same I went today
susanrc73 lol when i went on this i was screaming so much this was my first roller cosseter abd the last.
Yandere Nicole I liked it but the only part I hated was where u go up laying on your back it hurt my back some
That rain was meant to add effect!
Dollywood has given me some of the happiest childhood memories. Looking at all of the pretty lights while I freeze my butt off, all the fun rides and roller coasters. I'm so glad it was a part of my childhood.
This was my first upside down rollercoaster, when your at the last chain lift there’s a brake on the drop and when the flames appear you can actually feel it
Yea because that’s actual flames and they’re like 2 feet from ur face
Yeah! I rode this ride for the first time yesterday and I was surprised that I could feel the heat from the fire!
Yes same for me
It's fire. Of course you can feel it.
Same
When you go straight up, it feels like you go might go backwards down it
on the second straight up part your actually going 95 degrees up so you are tilting backward
@@jobiwobiwaffles no, the lift is 90 degrees up, and the DROP is 95 degrees
Its like the first half is a family coaster, but the other is a thrill ride. I have never been able to understand you Mystery Mine!
That would be why it’s called mystery mine
😂
Idk that drop at 1:21 was pretty steep, it caught me off guard when I went on it.
I love this ride! The scariest part for me was not the upside down loop but the 90 degree angle going 80 feet up! It practically feels like you are going to fall backwards.
The vertical lift hill is 90 degrees
@@trimlesscoasters That’s what I meant….thanks
it goes EIGHTY FEET up?! i had my eyes closed for most of it but the second lift was terrifying
@@mari-vb6cv yep!!! Me also!!
Even though it's gotten a little bumpy with age, it's still a really fun ride. Living in east Tennessee, I've lost count of how many times I've actually ridden it by now. It's weird, though, the drop after the "explosion" at the end looked delayed on this ride through. Normally the drop begins right as the pyro happens, and you don't really have time to look at it before dropping face first.
OwlCrackers Thunder head beat the crap outta me. I live in East Tennessee too and when I first rode thunder head it slung me around so much. I had bruises all over me. It was fun lol.
LemonLimeSoda ui YOU STOP swearing
Robert Taylor Ummm? I didn't swear??? lol...
OwlCrackers The drop after flames happened as fast as this one did. It didn't drop for me when the fire happened.
Robert Taylor Are you freaking 12?
I went on this ride expecting it to be nice and tame, and I even kept my glasses on (I wasn't thinking it would go upside down). Halfway through the ride I realized that this was anything but tame😂 and at one point my glasses were barely hanging off my face! It was a blessing from God they didn't fall off! Over all I loved the ride, and now me and my sister are not afraid of roller coasters like we used to be😁
One of my fav. I was actually scared on the way up that steep climb. Intense
right i felt like i was gonna fall but it was pretty fun!
This ride was honestly so much fun. My friends and rode it since there was a school trip. Once the drop came my boyfriend started to yell. lmao
this is the only way I enjoy roller coasters any more. From the safety and comfort of my own house.
Dude, coasters are comfy IMO.
And, more people died on a *TOILET* Than on a coaster.
lol
at Dollywood they do plenty of safety checks at the beginning and throughout the day im not sure about other places but Dollywood is safe
RIGHTTT
Same dude.
This one was so fun though, it was my first day riding actual rollercoasters and this was my second one. I hope that if you ride any medium sized coaster it would be this one, this one is great.
This ride was an absolute blast. It had character. It almost told a story the way it felt throughout. Slow at times, fast at others. I did not know what to expect.
Rode this a few days ago and my head bothered me for the rest of the day. EXTREMELY painful ride.
Not true
i agree
@@jacksonewing7874 it gave me an extreme headache after i rode bc of my head hitting side to side on the seat
@@alainadonald1148 the first time it felt fine but then it seemed more lose on the seat and my head was banging. But still a awesome ride
Iv rode this 100s of times never beat my head on the seat cant ride a rollercoaster. And let your head just flop wherever 😂😂😂
Absolutely loved this ride. The park fireworks started going off right when we got to see the sky for the first time- it was magical
0:45 I thought this was a video game at this point.
Same
Same
Trust me, it's no video game.

Rode this on my summer vacation there, I really loved it a lot! My dad stayed with my mom because she can't ride rollercoasters without her neck hurting really bad so I went on my own. I finally boarded the ride after about a half an hour and I was sitting next to this woman and her two daughters. I was a bit worried at first but I calmed down remembering that I've rode faster ones than this (I love rollercoasters) so the woman was like, "Are you scared?" And I told her no but after the first drop I accidentally started cussing and she was in tears from laughing so hard. Good thing my parents didn't hear me say some of the stuff I did because I would be GROUNDED 😂 but after the loop at the end the woman asked me if I was okay. My mom and Dad kept the picture from the ride and Still tease me about it. 😄🎢
I remember when i first rode this and that's the hardest ive ever cried
One of the craziest coasters I’ve ever ridden. Caught me completely off guard.
The first time I rode this coaster was the first time I went upside down after 12 YEARS of having that fear,I love this ride and will never forget it due to this milestone.
Me: Looks like a good family coaster... my young cousins might like this
10 seconds later: Oh yeah btw I have two inversions for ya
It's honestly not "too" bad, but if they're 8 or younger probably not lol
this ride is so underrated, and this is probably my 2nd favorite ride at dollywood!
I loved this ride so much, had so many surprises, I definitely recommend everyone ride this at Dollywood!
I rode this today! What an amazing ride!! Highly recommend 😀
Everything looks so cool... Until you see the exit signs. =I
It ruins every indoor rollercoaster 😐
It's not really Dollywood's fault, though.
The fire part got me when I first rode it 😂😂😂😂
Me too!
i rode this as my last ride my last trip to dollywood this year we rode it three times the most intense part was the drop at 2:23 you are literally laying on your chest and in most of the chain lifts you are laying on your back but it is still my favorite ride at dollywood
LOVE this ride. Felt like my eyebrows were gonna burn right off at the explosion part
I love how it’s basically a kiddy coaster until the last 10 seconds
second favorite ride ever!!!
my favorite is nighthawk at carowinds !!💁🏼♀️❤️
I loved this ride . It stuck with me my whole childhood ! 10/10
The last time I rode this ride was five or six years ago.
I am going back to Dollywood summer 2017 and I am so excited.
oopiekloha I been there so many times and I am 8 last time I was there I was 7 years old and soon I will go there again I love that place I whish I cold go there before my birthday it's at December the 19th and I will be nine I live in owsebor in Kentucky
lol
really I am on my mom's acont XD
This looks so amazing and unique!!
I freaking love this ride!!
I cried getting on and I cried getting off, but I would 100% ride this ride again and again! It’s SO underated! It really needs more publicity
i love this ride so much. its so much fun when you cant see in the dark you just have to trust the coaster wont go straight down
If I EVER get on another coaster you better believe I WILL be wearing contacts. One close call with my glasses is one too many.
I thought Lightning rod was just a jolly wooden coaster I could wear my glasses on, ended up having to clip them to my shorts and almost break them thirty times
This is a unique ride. I love the indoor/outdoor element and mid-ride lift hills, but it looks really rough. I imagine it's pretty painful? Plus, that stall when upside down at 2:32... wow.
+FireCracker3240 It's getting pretty rough, but the stall at the end is actually pain-free. Your thighs will be fine, but it'll box your ears in the first half of the ride.
FireCracker3240 it is painful I had back and neck pain after
FireCracker3240 I actually rode it not to long ago and it is not as bumpy as it looks.
FireCracker3240 it's not painful
its not painful but when they o the fire say bye to your eyebrows they dont burn off no matter how much it feels like that
this was my first and only Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter that ive ridden and it was soooo awsome i loved it
Just got back to dollywood. This ride was NOT what I was expecting...lol loved it!
This looks so amazing! I absolutely love the indoor/outdoor aspects! Would love to go here!
It's amazing! I go atleast once a week
This was my fav ride but they have more rides than the ones he videoed
love the unique layout, especially the twist and dive, as well as the excellent theming, but this coaster needs some smoothing.. lap bar only cars would be a great start.. It doesn't need OTSR's, and Dollywood made a bad choice in this regard.. Still, the snazziest Eurofighter around, and definitely worth a ride. Or ten.
Teddy M There’s less than 20 coasters with only lap bars that go inverted in the whole world. They’re super unsafe.
This was my first Roller coaster and I loved it so much, I still love it to this day lol
Dollywood is like if Disney decided to focus more on thrill rides rather than trying to be family friendly.
I did this ride it was fun and scary
I’m 8 year old and I have been on that ride I love the upside down part and you no what my brother is 13 and he is so scared to get on lol
you’re way more brave than me and im 5 years older than you
Who cares he can go on what he wants u are brave tho
Just waiting for quarantine to end so I can ride this again. Gonna be one of the first when the parks open back up!
The fire portion of this ride scarred me as a kid, I rode this back in 2009, and I still recall it vividly.
I remember I went on this when I was 9 and I was traumatised
Good ride, but a head banger
I kind of expected that this would be a head banger because of the name
And the seat restrains can kinda get real tight.... But other than that's it's good
Yeah seriously I have season passes to Dollywood. I feel like a ping pong ball 😂
Reagan O'Donnell you can hear that this is a head banger
This coaster is the best to a lot of twist and turns and riding through the dark I love this coaster so much it is the best ever
That second drop was unreal and i like how this coaster tricks.you on first hill, those hill are way more stop than they look
When I rode this my fav part was when you go upside down!
Best roller coaster ever!
ikr
it’s awesome
agreed
70's greatest rock bands / another Doctor Who fan lightning rod is the best
not even the best coaster at Dollywood...
Great coaster! Even better at night!
I remember bing really freaked out by this ride a few years ago. Now I want to go on it. Though you literally have no clue what will happen when, the fear makes it sound so fun!
Ive never been on a roller coaster with beyond vertical drop... Any "recommendations?' what do they feel like?
its amazing I've been on Kingda ka top thrill dragster
Your stomach will drop but beyond vertical drops are the most fun.
The drops will basically be nothing if you scream!!! Plus the upside part feels like your gonna fall but you're completely safe!
while it is beyond vertical, it really does just feel like falling straight down. The drop last less than a second it feels like, and to be honest the 2 vertical lifts are the scariest part haha.
+Ragamuffins1 Update: I got on mystery mine! The drop was nothing
When I rode this I got stuck on the last upside down part and I was terrified
Yoshimation you Cant get stuck upside down cause gravity exists
@@maxmusic5380 actually there's a video of it on RUclips. I was there when it happened was in line for it. That is not a normal loop.
Not possible
One of the best rides ever!!
I remember hating this ride when I was 11, but now I’m 14 (soon to be 15) and I love this ride. The only I don’t like about it is it can be a bit rough on the head. Your head bounces around a lot. Very under appreciated ride.
all the elements especially after the first drop are so small
+Dave704 They're extremely slow, too, which makes them surprisingly intense, especially the below-the-vertical drop and the overbanked turn. The fact that age has made Mystery Mine so bumyp now makes it even more violent, but not really in a good way. This thing is almost painful to ride at this point.
my mom made me ride this. i'm terrified to ride rollercosters now.
Actually looks really fun
This ride is amazing, terrifying but amazing
Like the mummy, thunder mountain smashed together added with space mountain for the pitch black no idea where your going bit
I rode it yesterday and it scared me to death
Mackenzie's tips 321 SAME
Same I had multiple panic attacks and cried my eyes out
Rileigh Cat On the Mystery Mine?? C’moooon
Tyler Lovett yes. I'm highly terrified of the dark and heights. They don't mix well. Plus I just generally don't like roller coasters.
Rileigh Cat but it is not even that tall
how did you add your camera on there?
+Shadow Cali559 Eastcoastergeneral, who films most of our videos, mounted his camera to the front of the coaster car. Watching this in line rn, one of my fav rides
When you go down the first drop when it’s dark at the beginning my head bobbled so much I had a headache but other than that I love it
As someone who has been on this coaster countless times, I'll give you some tips. You actually DO need OTSR's because towards the end of the ride you hang upside for a total of 4 seconds. Over the lap bars wouldn't keep you as safe as you would like to be on this ride. To keep from head banging on the restraints lean forward all the way against the bars comfortably and it keeps you from hitting your head.
Have you seen HangTime by chance? Have you ridden Cannibal in Lagoon? They have lap bars and have more hangtime than Mystery Mine. You do not need OTSR.
Idk what y’all are talking about this ride is so overrated. I banged my head so much
Honestly love this ride. Whenever the conversation amusement comes up, I always like to describe this ride as “The coaster with a flamethrower”
Always leads to interesting conversations. All good stuff though.
What an excellent ride!!
I rode his 10 times in one day
But have you rode it 10 times in a row?
Hagertaylor 2007 I did about 5 times in a row lol
I hate when rides are pitch black bc now r u suppose to know what to except like seriously r they Trina give ya a heart attack
Leila Wilson yeah they actually are it’s supposed to feed on that “ thrill factor” or whatever, but this roller coaster is awesome
I hate i love it when drops are in the dark or fast parts it seems like a. Blast
This ride is INTENSE. I've been on this one multiple times (I'm actually a Tennessee resident myself, and Dollywood is about three and a half hours away from me), and it's one of my favorites in the park, aside from Thunderhead, Tennessee Tornado, and Wild Eagle.
I love this ride. I ride it more than once every year.
i was going to ride it but i chickened out! which was stupid because then i went to ride wild eagle...💀
Anyone want to ride mystery mine at 3 a m? 🤔😨
sevierville anyone??
Sure take me with you

nice my family is going this year for the first time. looking forward to this and others. great video
I just came back from Dollywood I loved this ride
This ride..was the ride that broke me fear of roller coasters. And i still worship it til this day.
This is amazing! Thought has gone into both the theming and track layout. Would be lifted to the top with some story-telling.
This is my favorite ride of all time
That’s such a cool idea with the vertical lift integrated into a mine headframe
this ride and barnstormer fr>>
mystery mine is actually so intense though, when i rode it for the first time, i was shocked
I love this one! It’s scary because they have you at weird angles when you’re on it and it’s dark a lot of the time
this ride is AWESOME
I'm in my forties and have ridden coasters since I was five. This one terrifies me every time, yet I ride it every time I go to Dollywood. I say, "never again " after each time I ride on it, lol. The slow vertical inclines horrify me, but this coaster is very unique so I continue to get back on it. The video does nothing for it. You really just have to experience it for yourself.
The first time I rode this I was little and didn't know about the inside parts. The drop out of the station scared me and the Two lift hill did too. It was my first upside down one too
very fun ride i went on it last year with Family and Co. 10/10 would recommend!
I love Dollywood going back this weekend
This ride was awesome and when it goes straight down then upside down it scared the hell out of me
Ryan Mac I hate upside down
