What a great comment, "The food is secondary, to the quality of the fast."

To me, your channel is by far the most inspirational OMAD-channel that I've found so far.
I got on OMAD in the beginning of the year when I was borderline over weight/obese. Sure, I wanted to lose weight but another reason was that I felt like too much of my life revolved around food and snacks. I often felt bloated and woke up in the middle of the night with heart burn. I had a strict 23h/1h fast with only water or black coffee during the fast. I had a few splurges here and there, perhaps too many but I still had great results. I lost weight, I felt a lot better physically after just a few days and I felt in control again.
Come Covid. On top of that we bought a house and started the preparations to move. I lost my job (and got a new, much better job).
So a lot happened and I lost focus on the OMAD. During the summer and fall I went back to eating "all day" so I regained most of the weight I'd lost and I felt worse again. To me, that is proof enough of how powerful OMAD is. Therefore I got on it again almost four weeks ago.
    Again, great results.
This time I have a slightly different approach.
    1. I drink sugarfree sodas during the fast. One sometime during the day before I eat, usually a Monster energy drink and sometimes a diet Coke in the evening. I know these beverages are not "good" but they dont seem to effect my fast or weight loss at all, plus I feel that I get a higher quality of life.
    2. I adapt more to the situation. If I plan to have my meal at 5 pm and my parents pop over at noon, bringing pastries. I'm not going to sit there with my cup of black coffee and be weird. Instead I adapt to the situation. I eat the pastries and throw in something else like a sandwich. Thereby making it my meal for the day. My fast will be a bit longer for 5 pm the next day but I've stuck to the OMAD-plan.
    3. Since this is my second attempt at OMAD, I KNOW that it works and what to expect. Regarding weight loss, I do have certain goals and a time frame. When it comes to my health and quality of life, I feel like I want to do this forever.
Thanks for all the inspiration man.
    Keep it up.

I just love the chronicles to show that you’re still doing omad. It encourages me. I’ve done bad a few days in a row with family in town for the holiday week.

Lovely family - you look good and still going strong on your everyday OMAD. It really helps to show what you can do. I would appreciate knowing the length of fasting with each meal. Do you stick to a strict time slot? I find I am stretching my window - cannot eat what I need to in a short window. Thinking I am more in maintenance mode some days. I do not weigh daily ( no scale). I go to a Doctor clinic after three months for update on weight and blood pressure etc. Slow and steady - habits repeated for new way of life.

When I eat one meal a day, I want it to be enjoyable. It is commendable that you chose to "power through" and eat that chicken takeout meal. I am, now, more likely to trash an undesirable dish and select something that I would be pleased with.

Well it was a matter of I didn’t want to make anything else as it was a take out meal. It was a bummer but that’s okay a light meal is fine once in a while too.

Did you always eat these portions even in the beginning? I’ve been doing omad for 4ish months. And I easily eat 2-3 times these amount. I just never get full. I feel this is the reason I’m struggling so much and at the point where I’m considering weight loss surgery. I’m 170 lbs over a healthy BMI if that helps.

Well yes. I use my goal weight maintenance calories as a guide to how big my meals are. You don’t need to be ‘full’ either. Eat until you’re no longer hungry. You’ll be okay

I'm truly baffled by this. I'm amazed at the amount of fried and processed food. It must be due to our different cultures. Are you really eating like this every day? Or maybe this is to show that you can only eat junk food and be ok if you only eat once a day?

    • @omaddad1525
      @omaddad1525  3 года назад +2

To answer your question no I don’t eat like this every single day. Most of my meals are pretty simple I rely on eating things that I have around the house or from restaurants in my area. I don’t eat perfectly all of the time and that’s what I try to convey in a lot of my videos. Utilizing OMAD, I can eat the foods that I enjoy while doing so in a controlled manner. I try and follow an 8020 rule where 80% of the time I’m eating really high quality foods and about 20% of the time I have little indulgences. Not everyone can eat like this and that is why I don’t like making these types of videos even though they are popular on this channel. I don’t want people being ‘tied down’ by my food choices. Ultimately your plate will consist of whatever you can make a meal out of.
