In 2006, OSU beat Mich by 3 at home as the 1 & 2 ranked teams, but Florida was placed in the title game. That good ol SEC bias has screwed this sport over more times than not.
Normally a 9-6 final would indicate some of the worst offense ever displayed this century, but in this case it was mostly bad special teams and outstanding defense that led to it.
For sure. Alabama dominated LSU on both ends of the ball IMO but as you said, they couldn't score in the redzone, so kudos to LSU for that. That LSU defense is how most defenses play today.. let you get whatever you want between the 20's and shut you down in the redzone.

This was the first time they switched to Jefferson that year. Lee was QB1 sólo that year and was actually playing well. Only had 1 int up until he threw 2 in the first half this game. The Bama defense really froze him. Then Les went with Jefferson the rest of the year
It's weird. Team 1 beat Team 2 at their place. Team 1's "reward" for that was to play an extra game (SECCG) against the best team from the other side of their conference. Had they lost that game, they would have been knocked them out of the national title game. BUT Team B, who lost at home to Team A, was actually "rewarded" for losing that game by being fast tracked to the national title game without having to play an extra game against a quality opponent. Nobody gets let in through the back door quite like bama. The BCS was a corrupt sham.
