I'm not surprised you were feeling tired, running those two machines would create a lot of carbon monoxide in that hold. Although it is slightly lighter than air, it would not be enough for it to disperse upwards fast enough, and you would be breathing in a fair bit. Headaches and sore throat after a long night in that hold is a definite possibility.
