Love these kinds of videos of explaining and sharing features of heroes. Great breakdown of Cornelius' use , how to include in team and his advantages of bringing an old mage to the party 😂
He doesn't need magic penetration since the monolith deals physical damage. He needs armor penetration. Moreover I thought that being a support you should invest in health and armor first
I am able to counter Frozen Visage with Yasmine very well. The trick is actually to keep her on the 3rd position (after Galahad and QM), and prevent Yasmine from being hit until an AOE damage hit her from Frozen Visage, then BOOM, Yasmine stab it to death.
Hero Wars has bred a surprising amount of enemies for my d&d party. Cornelius' abilities make a great enemy bounty hunter specializing in hunting mages
@@anichols752 I'm thinking Heavy Wisdom smacks someone for a number of d4 equal to int score, Rune of Suppression/Memory Loss are rolled up into one that makes spells opponents cast act as if they're a level lower, and Protective Dome gives you and your allies magic resistance.
He is one of those heroes that you would like to have him leveled up but because you can only invest in main team he is always left behind and never strong enough :(
Is magic penetration that important for Cornelius? Even though all of his attacks are based off of his Magic Attack the damage is still physical damage therefore wouldn't Armor penetration be more effective.
Let me answer on his behalf. Because cornelius infuse his magic attack into his basic attack. Meaning that if he has 500 physical damage and 1500 magic damage, the total damage for his basic attack will be 2000. So if he use his magic attack as his auto attack, magic penetration would help alot. (I'm still confused about it but I highly believe on that because I tested him out). Edit : I'm still trying to find a clear answer for this. I don't know whether he converts the magic attack into physical or straight up hitting with magic attack like Celeste. There's a fun trick you could try to make his basic attack damage extremely high. Put him beside nebula (because nebula buff both magic attack and physical attack). So Cornelius take BOTH of the buff in his attack. Try it. You'll be surprised by how broken it is.
@Kai he uses his magic attack stats to auto attack. But the damage from his auto-attacks is physical damage. Yes, it’s very confusing. So he benefits from magic attack improvements and buffs. But not from magic penetration. So, basically, he benefits from magic attack buffs and armor penetration buffs. Weird AF
He is definitely a good counter hero, and does great in outlands. But I would say Rufus is much more needed in the later levels than Cornelius. I had a level 70 Rufus tank for my team and he would almost always stay alive because of all the magic damage
Armor Artifact buffs from the tanks or other hereoes can the special super ineffective due to lack of penetration. Also Cornelius can have issues if he is in the back line when facing Astaroth due to the energy burn skill. Basically I do not recommend Cornelius to attempt to counter Twins as the special you depend on will have issues. As for the Campaign to deal with the magic dealers or super healers this hero is great.
I have worked with my Cornelius that much. I found a formula that works for me, and I tend to just stick with that. I suppose I would use him as a counter, but its rare that he would be needed, not to mention he is way too weak.
Adding Cornelius in to defeat the Frozen Visage missions, I'm trying to decide who to pull out of the regular team. Asteroth, QM, Keira, Jorgen, Martha. I'll still need a tank and healer, QM pushes the team back, Keira does vicious damage, so I'm thinking Corny in for Jorgen?
On my mobile account I had already gotten through the campaign before I had the resources to get or level Cornelius. Should ultimate him during this event. I hope at some point they give him a youth skin like they did for Martha but the pimp skin is fun.
Ok, I always thought PvE was "player vs. enemy" but player vs. environment makes a lot more sense to distinguish it from player vs. (other human) player.
Cornelius is a really strong anti-mage, but I agree not building him for your main team. You really just plug him in to counter twins, celeste, orion... high intel damage dealers.
I think its better to maximise his ability to survive in the battle for long enough. At high levels of 120 on mobile, his health is one of the most important. This is because when the enemy has high damaging ability if he can stay alive long enough he can wreck all the mages on the opposing team. I did about 820k damage to alot of top players, basically one shoting them. this was with the combination of celeste and a team which boost magic attack. Its true his magic attacks matters, but the most important is the opposing mages team intelligence. So placing the health skin after masquerade and the health glyph before intelligence is better in my opinion.
Since we cannot purchase all the skins in the order that are always touted, it seems more useful to disclaimer that conversation that until those skins can be purchased, it is perfectly good and fine to invest in the main skin. This seems lost in so many of these considerations. Main skins can be right helpful and free!
@@SopraniLinux Right, so if it's a physical damage, that means the damage is mitigated by armor and not magic resist right? So why wouldn't lowering the receiving hero's armor increase the damage of Heavy Wisdom.
@R.F.R.L No, Andrew is correct. Magic penetration does nothing for him. Magic attack, however, improves his damage on the first skill. And a hero that gives him armor penetration will help his monolith’s damage as well.
Seriously, "....Hero 7 or Hero 8"? I'd go for Celeste, Nebula, Jorgen, Sebastian, Lian, Astaroth, Aurora, Cleaver, K'arkh, Faceless, Lars, Krista, Dorian, Orion, Helios, Martha, Yasmine, Galahad, Keira, Qing Mao, Jhu and possibly Maya, before I'd even think about Cornelius. I'd say he's about Hero 20+ ish. He doesn't seem to make it into many top teams, even when they are countering say ODH.
Is he good in the last chapters of the campaign, Yes. Is he necessary? Not even close. There are so many that can handle that face block of ice thing. My twins decimated the final chapters. Orion can melt it as well. Theres plenty of options. Cornelius isn't someone you need, but can make things easier, certainly.

I knew you were going to go milk crate. While I normally agree with your designations I can't on this guy. I'd argue he's PVE only. I haven't had a whole lot of luck with a 1 sub replacement to counter mage teams in max testing. I think it'd be worse against other players as you normally have minimal investment in him if he's not in your main team.
Cornelius and Martha would make a cute old couple, like grannies who invite you over for some monolithic cookies and herbal tea

A horse walks into a bar.
The bartender says "Hey".
The horse replies "Sure".
This guy is one of my favorite heros in this game, great in so many modes its nuts, as you point out though not a plug in vs melee.

His Giant Rock, being a physical attack, can also be dodged. My Jet dodges that Giant Rock frequently. (Yay!)
Ya i noticed that the other day vs a jet lol

Brilliant

1:03 "he is also classified as support because of his control abilities" - yeah makes sense :D
He is classified as a warrior due to his strong marksman abilities and healing prowess
Cornelious- very good for last icy and city chapters
Is magic penetration that important for Cornelius? Even though all of his attacks are based off of his Magic Attack the damage is still physical damage therefore wouldn't Armor penetration be more effective.
You are right
If enemy has Cornelius, use Heidi. If Heidi is leveled to have highest intelligence, he will dodge the monolith
Hmmm. Wouldn't think a hero dealing physical damage would need magic penetration. Can you explain that HWC?
I agree, he needs physical penetration, like Qing Mao, to buff his ultimate skill

Used Rufus too, with Martha. Between her Healing and his shield, the team took very little damage... Even Frozen Visage wasn’t an issue.

He's a BEAST in the final chapters too.
I just love these...so much to learn about how to put teams together.
I've been curious about Cornelius. Still haven't built him up or used him. But if I ever do. It is good to have the knowledge
He's deadly against Frozen Visage, one strike of his boulder will kill one outright. Cornelius got me through chapters 11 and 12.
I have worked with my Cornelius that much. I found a formula that works for me, and I tend to just stick with that. I suppose I would use him as a counter, but its rare that he would be needed, not to mention he is way too weak.
Wait... on that big wallpaper with Cornelius in the library... is that an Intelligence Skin Stone on his outfit?
Thanks! I really need to level him up and use him eventually...got to have great resources..........
Pimp Corny is an interesting animal to me. I think on mobile he is much less important than he appears to be on Facebook.
Was this after his rework
Hmm, we would need to think a lot about cornelius

Oooh Cornholio!!!
He needs ARMOR penetration because he does physical damage...
@@SopraniLinux correct, so magic penetration doesn't do anything for his auto attack and ultimate ability.
By the time we get new Tier List names, we get max vs max on mobile :D

Right on.
I really need to update what my tierlist explainer page looks like.
As a f2p is hard to focus on other heros rather than focusing of main team...
I passed them without corneous. I used Yasmine nebula and Martha. Nebula and Martha keep Yasmine alive and She takes care of the business

I counter the ice chapter with Yasmine mostly. However the priest of Seymour would be tough without him.

I thought satori's basic attack was magic attack too? (Well, it is after his skill but i am making an exception to that??)
Probably not in the top 15 heroes but top 20 👍🏼
man i have Cornelius but swiped him with martha, jorgen and Nebula. Now he is out of my Grand Arena. Are they a good change? or Is it a bad choice?
axel cornelius counter ?
Thank you: great info!
Definitely a PVE hero as well.
between satori faceless, and Corny, who should you spend highwayman coins on most?
Faceless more useful
masquerade skin is magic defense
Yet another video and i'm still waiting for my skin.
