Man i am kinda jealous, i have a HH-1050 but it doesn't spin up :( i tried troubleshooting it there is nothing wrong with the board, which leads me to think it's the spinde chips that are bad. But to change then i need to remove the whole disk package which isn't possible without damaging the drive beyond repair. The heads aren't stuck just so you know.

This drive was manufactured by Microscience International, not Miniscribe.

    Voice coil?

It's hard to tell. Seems like it's a linear voice coil drive. There's no way a linear stepper based drive would move that fast during the seektest, so it's probably a voice coil

Yes, the Microscience HH-1000 and HH-2000 series are linear voice coil actuation with a dedicated servo surface.

@@randomyt666 Motor actuated drives were available with similar performance, actually. Check into the Panasonic JU-128, NEC D5126H/D5146H, and TEAC SD-540-10U
