I love how the transition from Bletcher to Butler also reflect the change in Spike's personality. Bletcher's Spike sounds much tougher and a little mean, which is fitting for how he looks and acts. Butler's Spike still sounds like he'll punch anyone who bothers him, but he sounds much more friendlier. One can argue that also happened due to Tyke's introduction, which makes sense, but I really like how that's all reflected in how Spike sounds and speaks. Not to mention how he looks.
I think voice in spike was the first time Butler worked with Hanna-Barbera

I works well for Pete too. Jim Cummings provides both the tough voice and fatherly voice for his role too. Coincidentally both were originally voiced by Billy Bletcher. Such a big voice coming out of a small man.

Frank Welker shared the role with Lou Scheimer in The Tom and Jerry Comedy Show in other episodes, actually.
Frank Welker did voice Spike Bulldog in The Tom and Jerry Comedy Show (1980), but the clips assigned to Welker at 5:10-5:34 are actually from the episodes where Filmation Associates producer Lou Scheimer provided the voice. Scheimer took over the role of Spike from Welker in the show's seventh episode.

This and Tom and Jerry's voice evolution really make me realize exactly why Daws Butler quickly became a regular of Hanna-Barbera. Butler gave Spike a heart that I honestly didn't hear as much in any of the other performances. I'd say the actor who came closest to getting that heart was Phil LaMarr, but I honestly don't think ANYONE can top Daws Butler as Spike. I loved his Tom too, second favorite Tom after only William Hanna himself. It's so cool to get to hear all of these brilliant voice artists side by side and see how the characters changed over time.
Pretty good and that explains everything of the names of the voice actors who played Spike over the years and also when it comes to the 1975 The Tom and Jerry Show I was literally surprised at their 3 voice actor swapping and even 2 voice actors swapping into the Tom and Jerry comedy show but other than that it's pretty good
Always knew Billy Bletcher and Daws Butler. When you watch behind the scenes footage of Billy Bletcher voicing Pete, I love how such a big and intimidating voice comes out of such a small guy. Goes to show us “size matters not” (as Yoda would say).

To me Daws Butler, and Billy Bletcher were his best voice in the original shorts, afterwards, Don Messick, Joe E Ross, Dick Gauthier, and Maurice LaMarche were just as good. Although I could swear that Don Messick was voicing Spike in the John Stephenson part of the video.

Regarding the voice actors, everyone did a pretty good job, except Billy Bletcher.
How could anyone not like Billy Bletcher? He's not only the original Spike, but also the original Pete. And the best Pete. Jim Cummings isn't that close to Billy, but still good.
I think part of his charm is the Brooklyn, Durante-inspired accent.
Most of the actors went for that direction. Bletcher, however, sounds too much like his other roles (Pete, Horace, Tom Cat), it's barely distinguishable. Even if he did try to make it slightly higher at some points, it still sounds the same.

@@abdullahibouraleh6919I think Jim Cummings made Pete’s voice less intimidating just like Daws Butler did for Soike because they can still have their tough side, but also have that fatherly side to them as well.

Rick zerrif really nailed daws mannerisms while giving the character his own spin tough guy with good moral side
My favorite Spike appearance (aside from the classic shorts), is the Filmation era, aka the Tom and Jerry Comedy Show era, where he was voiced by current Scooby-Doo voice actor, and original voice of Flintstone’s Barney Rumble, from the 1990’s, to the Midas commercial in 2006, Frank Welker, along with Filmation executive producer, Lou Scheimer. I also like Michael Donovan, who is from BLT Productions Ltd. in Canada, John Stephenson and Don Messick from the 1975 show, Patric Zimmerman, for Tom and Jerry Kids, Bobby Canavale, for the 2021 Tom and Jerry movie, Rick Zieff, for the recent Tv show and the voice actors for the DTV television specials and movies, including Phil LaMarr, and Spike Brandt.
As still a kid, I know him from Tom and Jerry Tales and The Tom and Jerry Show.

I hate pointing this out, but some of the Tom and Jerry Comedy Show footage used, Spike was voiced by Lou Scheimer as his usual "I don't want to pay another voice actor" role. Frank Welker did indeed voice the character for most of the episodes, but Lou took over most of Frank's roles (though not Droopy) in the series after a certain point, and as usual, uncredited. You can usually tell because he has a really strange low pitched voice that he uses for characters. He basically started doing this with the first Filmation produced Fat Albert Special because Dumb Donald had 2 lines, and when it came to series he became the character's voice actor. It's fascinating how many roles he'd take on, and also would give his wife and daughter to basically keep Filmation the cheap company it has a notoriety for.

I Knew that William Hanna's Vocal Effects were used in Some Tex Avery Cartoons as well as the Barney Bear Cartoon "Wee Willie Wildcat".

That's exactly my point! Bletcher barely tried to give different voices for Pete and Spike. Even if he did try to make Spike's voice slightly higher at some points, it's still extremely similar.
