@TheElevatorChannel Best part is, I caught this thing misbehaving! :) Glad you enjoyed this, and looking foward to your presentation of the new system in your area. (I'm also glad that, in spite of the 418,372 other videos of these, I made this one rather unique, with some angles nobody else, very few, used.)
You didn't pay attention too well. :) It was clearly stated in-video, both narration and in text, the low-rise panels only accepted highrise calls most of the time I used it.
The best part is when you're trying to get back to the 1st floor, and all the panels refuse your call. I almost took a service elevator because of it. Happened twice when I stayed here. I used the low-rise set to get the high-rise lifts to respond many times.
@TheElevatorPlanet You'd be surprised how many people didn't pay attention, and made comments worthy of removal. The 2'nd vid, which I mentioned, shows the low-rise taking a high-rise call (as that's almost the only way they got accepted off-camera), but then I take the long way around, and miss the elevator. :)
@MidAtlanticElevators In the 6am video, to be upped at a later time, it shows the system accepting a high-rise call on the low-rise side, thus me missing the elevator. :) While I was here, only the low-rise side took my high-rise calls half the time, while the high-rise side XX'd the calls.
@suzzex I know. Funny thing is, usually when people record elevators, they are on their best behavior. This was one case they were not. Best part are those who don't pay any attention to the video, telling me you can't enter high numbers on the low side. You can do that, and to really show attention failure, even the central panel didn't accept both high AND low numbers I punched in. That's Mi-"Chronic" 10 for ya'! :)
@Ih8ads At that moment, most high-rise calls only worked on the low-rise side. If you saw the other video, you'll see the low-rise side accepting a call to 45, but of course, missed the car. :)
I was surprised u did not use the handicapped feature it helps with getting to the 45th floor I was there in December for the 15th time going 2 NYC and they were working on a floor of the hotel it was all torn up I forgot with floor it was
the only reason at the beginning that it wouldn't aceept 45 is because you were trying to enter the number in the low rise bank of elevators which only goes to 28 or something like that.
@Delaypat For the non Elevator Geek, it's different. For the elevator Geek, it's overdone, but in my case, I believe I actually made this video unique against the 418,372 other videos.
Never seen a PORT. On-video, yes, in-person, no. "Mi-Chronic" can be a pain. I almost took the MPE to my room once, as no panel accepted my floor calls once.
This system is seriously flawed. During the day, I could only reach my high-rise floor (30), if I entered it on the low-rise side. Either that, or none would take it. Once, I almost took the MPE instead. For the short-term memory fans, the 6:15am video clearly shows the low-rise side taking high-rise calls.
@TheElevatorPlanet They should, since they were in the actual video itself, not the RUclips annotations. Sorry for the cold shoulder, but sometimes, it pays to do your homework first. :)
I would like you to do a retake, because you narate well. I am a blind elevator enthusiast who has ridden those elevators. I knew about 49, but didn't go there because of the attendant on 3. You missed putting the elevators in handicaped mode. That's what the retake would be forj
When I rode these last night since I parked here to see a show, I rode these elevators up to 45 and when I went back down, I pressed * on the keypad as that typically is the equivalent of punching in the main floor., it said XX/Entry Not Understood... This system really could use an upgrade to Port...
Well, you have to think. This was EARLY destination dispatch. You should expect bugs, but it really isn't acceptable for them to leave the same glitchy controller in even though there are smarter solutions, or if it trappes you up at the 45th floor for 15 minutes -_-
@georgef551 "Best part is, I caught this thing misbehaving" That statement isn't accurate, since that's their normal behavior! Take it from someone who has been on them on more than one occasion, this is them on a normal day. The system has quite a few hilarious bugs, but the way the cars are dispatched is unbeatable.
@georgef551 i actually like the moronics better then the PORT systems. I think the miconics are more creative and fun sode to speak. The PORT system is boring too me.
pretty easy to disparage the designers with dripping sarcasm without actually making a corresponding effort from your side. I remember folks using the elevators before the mod at the marriot and wait times were horrible. George-- you need to be a little realistic and stop being a nitpicker. even with your best efforts to make it look like an under-performing system, it still looks awesome !
That is because this particular install is well known to NEVER WORK RIGHT. It didn't when I was here. I had to rely on the low-rise side to make a high rise call about 90% of the time. When I wanted to go back to the ground floor from my room, it didn't work half the time. I came very close to becoming the 1st to get a video of the service elevators, because it wouldn't let me get off the floor I was on. Let's not forget a week later, Ih8escalators did a video here, and the lift he was riding on would randomly stop between floors, and would only move if he pressed the phone button. THERE IS A REASON why the Port system came to be, and this place was proof as to why.

@Ih8ads
Try paying attention to the video. You would CLEARLY HEAR, AND READ, High-Rise calls only worked on the Low-Rise side.
Actual photos show there's 49 floors, too.
I have no idea where this 55th floor rumor happened. Probably another hotel.
@TheElevatorPlanet

I completely forgot to demonstrate that. Wasn't even a though whatsoever. :)
Maybe next time, whenever that may be.....
@MidAtlanticElevators

Not sure. My guess is any overflow will appear at the bottom, as the upper numbers go away.
There's no immediate retake planned. This was a special trip, so if a retake were to happen, it's not very likely, or not anytime soon.
@suzzex

@TheElevatorPlanet
Way to read descriptions, and the in-video annotations. :)
Did you know on the keypad, there is a handicap button that you can hear the voice annociator.
the only reason at the beginning that it wouldn't aceept 45 is because you were trying to enter the number in the low rise bank of elevators which only goes to 28 or something like that.
@BradyandNellyROCK123
Actually, you can.
If you noticed, the CENTRAL console also didn't work, and didn't accept a low number, either.
There is a 49th floor ...it's just offices
I believe it is, as PORT is suposed to be its replacement.
There's no 55th floor. Look at a photo of the building, you'll see what's not there.
I have seen the 49th.
Mi-"Chronic"-10 is a broken system. I guess that's why they install PORT now (same thing, but works).
@georgef551- Well i havent seen eather of them, truthfully. Did u know Moronic 10 was discontinued?
@Delaypat
For the non Elevator Geek, it's different. For the elevator Geek, it's overdone, but in my case, I believe I actually made this video unique against the 418,372 other videos.
There's no 55th floor. It stops at 49.
Look at a picture, it shows there's no such thing as 50-55.
I wish they could keep the original bell.
Never seen a PORT. On-video, yes, in-person, no.
"Mi-Chronic" can be a pain. I almost took the MPE to my room once, as no panel accepted my floor calls once.
It's amazing how many people missed it. At least you responded with some class, so I give you a lot of points there. :)
Motors: Westinghouse
Platforms: Westinghouse
Everything except cabs and electronics: Westinghouse

@MegaZeldafan1
Yes, but it actually defeats it's purpose. It's not even intelligable.
@epzik8
Nice place, isn't it?
Car G is executive, try pressing 49 on floor3 or 55
It's called "Sarcasm". :)
There's thousands of videos of these, and I'm sure many predate those in the Elevator Community, as well.
@TheElevatorPlanet
"Uhh, do we get off here? Hey. The doors are closing!" :)
I would like you to do a retake, because you narate well. I am a blind elevator enthusiast who has ridden those elevators. I knew about 49, but didn't go there because of the attendant on 3. You missed putting the elevators in handicaped mode. That's what the retake would be forj
That would explain why people are looking for a floor that never existed.
No, I didn't.
Then again, it's useless in this place (unrecognizable speech).
@georgef551-
Man thats cold! The annotations dont appear on moble phones. But okay! THese things sound sort of death trappy from your video.
Did you try handy apt mode at all?
There is 55 floors total floors, in which L- 45 are public floors, 48 is "the view", and 49-55 are offices
@5169743494
Schindler parts. "A" has bad guide wheel bearings.
at the beginning, YOU WERE ON THE LOW RIISE BANK WHICH GOES TO 27!
cool video man...never have seen those before
If you're counting the 576,579 people prior to this visit, no.
I guess this is how "Port" came to be. :)
Yea your right I guess, suzzex told me that there were 55 but Wikipedia told me 49
When I rode these last night since I parked here to see a show, I rode these elevators up to 45 and when I went back down, I pressed * on the keypad as that typically is the equivalent of punching in the main floor., it said XX/Entry Not Understood... @MidAtlanticElevators
Him, and thousands of others.
@porcupinecool
You didn't pay attention.....
Maby the others woudnt work because they were on the low rise.
Agreed.
Actually. Didn't someone else record this before you?
Well, you have to think. This was EARLY destination dispatch. You should expect bugs, but it really isn't acceptable for them to leave the same glitchy controller in even though there are smarter solutions, or if it trappes you up at the 45th floor for 15 minutes -_-
I stayed at this hotel in 2009.

What if u put lots of floors in. What would happen to the indicator that says the floors that are being stopped at fills up
Those banks go to 27!!
I think that is terrible. They need to fix that. There are a lot of blind and visually impaired people that need it. I am one of them.
DINOler ICONIC 10
Seen it.
I'm confused
Confused about what? I'd like to help out.
@georgef551 i actually like the moronics better then the PORT systems. I think the miconics are more creative and fun sode to speak. The PORT system is boring too me.
Delgado told me that the rumor is simply a controller glitch
Probably
5 5 take car e go to level 55 now
First 31 seconds was a lie! Elevatortimes filmed these elevators in 2009
i have a tendency to sometimes not pay attention too well. sorry!
Its the moronic10 system at its best!
Not a tropical schindler elevator I filmed del rio
Way to understand sarcasm. :)
...yap! itz westy n schindler.
beatiful
