Short is always effervescent, like an over-bubbling bottle of champagne. He thrives completely in the moment on the cusp of all that's funny. Like Stephen said, "the greatest talk-show guest of all time."

When I was much younger, I thought that Mel Brooks was the greatest, funniest talk show guest (and he was) but for some time now that title has to go to Martin Short who never fails to kill (I mean that in the nicest way) as a talk show guest. And I met him once in Manhattan and he was as nice as can be. He is simply a comic genius.
The audience is a little off tonight. Martin was on fire. That Steve Martin going towards the light joke didn't get the laughter it deserved.
I agree. But it also seemed Colbert wasn't giving him great support, like Fallon and Conan do. Their chemistry together isn't great. The bit about the greatest talk show guest didn't sound like Colbert believed in it.

Saw him on Real Time a few weeks back. Not only funny with the heart at the right place, but damn intelligent and good arguments.
Such a charming man, I must say.

I'm 24 years younger than Martin. But when the cast of SCTV and Saturday night live all from the 70's / early 80's all pass away. My world will be lost. I grew up on comedy and wouldn't look at the world in any other way. The best reality show to ever make would be any of these cast mates especially Martin Short. Love to see any of them any day of my life.
