  • After talking with Andrew Douglas of ‪@PipersDoJo‬ I decided to give this mic a try. This is the Zoom Am7 with a USB-C connector. I think the iQ7 is equivalent, but for iOS devices.
If you want to hear the conversation that led to this little drain on my bank account, it's here: • This Recording May Be ...
I hope this is useful to any other pipers looking for a mic. I'll follow up with more tests, etc on highland pipes as well as smallpipes, whistles, etc in future.

thank you for demoing it with a muscial instrument. Most vloggers show demos with vocals which was not what i wanted. I wish you gave a comparison with the H2n also. Because i am confused between both.

Do you know if a windows computer would recognize this device if plugged in via a usb-c female to usb male extension cable?

I was surprised to hear wind noise with teh moscow sock but not with the foam sock, it seems like it would have been opposite.

I was also surprised by that. Though, to be fair, if I tested more maybe we'd find that there was just a particularly strong gust of wind poorly timed for the Moscow, and a rather less-windy window when the foam cover was on...

Great video, thank you. Did this come with the furry windscreen?

It did not, it came with the foam cover but the furry one is something I'd previously purchased from Amazon. It is sized for the Zoom H2N so it's kinda loose on this mic...

Did you do any post-production in the audio?

Nope, no post work at all, just what the mic picked up

Not an impressing product in any way. The box depicts software (APP) features that are NOT avaiable for free. The Current free App comes under a new name (the old Zoom name was likely sold for good money!) and is just a simple gadget that does not let you decide the recording format and only uses sound together with video! No tweaking possible. The only feature available in combo with the free App is that you can monitor the result of gain settings for the microphone. Once you have learnt that, there is no point in using it again. Finally, as said in the above video, Flight Mode is recommended for serious use to avoid the very noisy cross talk from the phone when it communicates, incoming SMS or what have you. .
