Lots of good clouds this day, caught a couple of videos while waiting for the gig to start.

A better title for this video would probably be, "Nice Clouds, and a bagpiper happens to be nearby"

A very talented friend designed this amazing double-low bass drone. I've never loved playing an instrument so much. I wish I could get the real "rumble" to come through in the recording.
Hector the Hero - Electric Piano

I just finished the part of the Iliad where Hector dies. In my mind, this song always accompanies the death and Achilles' cruel circuit with the body after, like, super cinematic and slow and sad. Initially I sat down to play this kinda cheesy, over-sappy take as a kind of joke, but I'll be honest... now I kinda like it for realsies...

The Terror Time - Small Pipes & Slow Pan
I have a b3000 that needs this tlc 😭😭do you travel to repair these?
Your drone definitely stands out more than mine in videos because of those colors.
great work!
That bass drone is lovely.
Beautiful! Whereabouts are you out West? I’m a bagpiper in Colorado, Chaffee County.
Utah - hail and well met, moutainland neighbor!
I like it.
Which cellphone is that?
Good job
Will it work with the IPhone 15 plus?
All the poles are standìng at attention 😊
What a plaintive song. Very touching. Bagpipes bring out so much emotion.
Bom dia , parabens pelo video, uma pergunta por qual razao tem um resistor de 3k3 em serie no capacitor eletrolitico da fonte de alimentacao
Sounds great! Thanks.
I've been looking for this same organ with the built-in recorder and you their hard to find
I have the same desk pad! ☺
What's the video recording app?
Hello !! I have this one and i link the am7 with a cable of 2 metters so that way i dont need tonput in airplane mode because is not ao close to the phone ☺️
And congrats for the playing !! Very cool !
Awesome! I want one!
Do you know if a windows computer would recognize this device if plugged in via a usb-c female to usb male extension cable?
I like that, it sounds good. How is it with the drones?
It seems like the synthetic reed can go higher than the cane reeds, but beyond high-C# or so it still only gets up there with a lot of extra pressure, so the drones have to be REALLY open to keep going across the full range of the chanter. And tuning gets a little silly...
Very nice 👌
I think your parrot might be sick
Where can I get a T-shirt like that? And the drone is interesting- 3d print?
Where can I get a T-shirt like that? And the drone is interesting- 3d print?
I feel like I needed to hear this - not sure why, but thanks!
I've found the back D goes flat with too much pressure. The opposite of what my highland pipe brain thinks it should be.
What an entrancing tune!
sounds good man!
Thank you for sharing this, I'm curious about doing this modification. I wonder if there's a way to do it without having to use tape, though it does sound good!
Thank you kindly! I feel pretty darn sure that, were I to do it again, I could position the holes better. By which I mean: lower, and that'd make it so not so much tape were needed. There are some great pipe makers, like Robert Felsburg www.thequietpiper.com/ who've figured out where to place those back-thumb-holes just as precisely as the front-side holes... my attempt was certainly messy... functional - but not pretty...
@@heritage.bagpipes I'm sure you'd be getting good at it after all these tries! :) what's your sets maker? I'm thinking about getting a fred morrison A/D but I'd like to see I can find someone that will make the mod for me and if possible the high b key. Do you know if there's a maker that will do this? Seems like everyone has stopped taking orders these days
@@leonardovelazquez1029 This set is made by John Walsh: www.johnwalshbagpipes.com/Small-Pipes-and-Retro-Pipes/ and I know he's not into adding any extra holes ('cause I did ask before trying myself) Lovely solid set, though - very reliable. I know that Nate Banton does extra holes and keys, Timothy Cummings plays a lot of Banton sets and puts those extra notes to good use: natebanton.com/smallpipes Robert Felsburg does back-side holes, though I don't know if he's dabbled in high-end keys... but, as you say, I believe he's currently not taking new orders. Though his stuff shows up used in Facebook groups, etc sometimes: www.thequietpiper.com/ And I think Jon Swayne does this kind of fun stuff with his chanters too, though I'm not 100% sure: www.jonswayne.com/bagpipes You might well be able to find a maker or brave tinkerer who'd add a hole to your eventual Fred Morrison set... Hopefully someone with a drill press so they could do it more precisely than I did mine hahaha...
I have a Hammond concord just like that. Sometimes it works very well but sometimes some upper keys sound very quiet. I move some cables around the back and it makes a noise similar to the one you show in the video. Do you have any information that could help diagnose the cause?
Well, I typed in : tin whistle for bagpiper and you came up first! Thanks a bunch. Getting an A whistle right now! Also, great reel! I might borrow that too ;)
Nice - welcome to the club!
Thank you for the review.
So a caliper will give me the exact size of tap reamer to use on my drone seat?
It'll at least get you close - like, based on the internal measurement I took with calipers, I thought I needed a smaller size than I ended up using -- but luckily the Harbor Freight set I got had a range of sizes, so it didn't end up being a big deal.
How do you know what size to use? I have a new set of Naills, and want to do this…..
Ah, good point, I should've mentioned that. I used a really basic caliper, like this one: www.harborfreight.com/6-in-utility-caliper-63664.html?campaignid=12144821732&adsetid=113736752821&product=63664&store=43&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA_tuuBhAUEiwAvxkgTjH4fOuNZK6dlniHtIKjcWbOAanY3XS8AQwvCsnKhGjLV22bp_sFXRoCEbUQAvD_BwE to measure the inside diameter. ***Do be careful, of course, I could tell that putting too much pressure might crack the wood down there, it's a lot thinner than further up on the drone. I think it was helpful to have a lot of hemp wrapped tight around the wood first, to kinda reinforce it, and then I took it slow and gentle. I found that just the slightest bit of a groove gave the reed's hemped end something to, "hang onto," so it doesn't require much. Best of luck with it! I hope it goes well and proves useful!
Did you do any post-production in the audio?
Nope, no post work at all, just what the mic picked up
50 dollars wow! Good deal !!! I have one similar… you need to keep pulling those drawbars in and out a lot … mine did the same thing to start with.. the spray will help!
I would love to buy one of these pipe chanters so much you have no idea. This thing is an amazing idea. I've been recently working on getting a high B on my standard chant which I could do, but this is the real deal right here.
Thanks a ton! I'm hoping to have a solid model soon, I'm 3D printing some, but I've got some established makers interested in making the design, I'll be sure to put-out videos, etc whenever they become available here and on Instagram, etc etc etc. Thanks again!
@@heritage.bagpipes things you should think about later on at least in my opinion would be to make one that pitches at around 466 for concert Bb. And the other would be at 440, for concert a. I have standard chanters in both of those configurations.
@@jeremyrusu9687 I'm 100% with you on that, for sure! The dream is most definitely to have this kind of range, AND have it in concert-pitch options, for sure!
@@heritage.bagpipes right on, that is awesome. As a blind bagpiper and multi instrumentalist musician. I think it is so great regardless of what happens. I am just watching your Hammond Organ cleaning video. I absolutely love those old organs.
@@jeremyrusu9687 Oh, that's great! I'm glad it's at all enjoyable for anyone, I wasn't sure if there'd be any interest in it, but eventually figured I might as well share just in case anyone else is trying to figure out what to do. They really are super cool instruments, and deserve preservation, to be played, etc
The technical term for the Moscow wind sock is dead cat 😂😂😂
Suggest you get a Dilrin loaner set for your students to use for paid gigs. 4 to 6 gigs should raise enough money to get an all weather Delrin set. ABW set to follow. A piper could have 2 sets going inside of a year. Bands may have used sets for sale as on trades up. Good luck and pipe on.
I suspect, some of the brittleness in your prints is that your filament is wet. maybe put your filament in a dehydrator or throw 'em in the oven. Material Temperature Time in Oven PC 80°C-90°C 7-10 hours ASA 80°C-85°C 4-6 hours Nylon 75°C-90°C 4-6 hours ABS 65°C-75°C 4-6 hours PETG 60°C-65°C 4-6 hours PLA 40°C-50°C 4-6 hours TPU 40°C-45°C 4-5 hours I had some 8 year old transparent PETG that I've never been able to print with reliably, but I liked it, and I wanted to figure out how to get it to print right, I thru it in the oven, prints like a dream now. I never knew PETG could be done this well. So now, when I'm in doubt, I throw it in the oven, usually does the trick. The other possibility is maybe you're under extruding. Might calibrate your E-Steps.
thank you for demoing it with a muscial instrument. Most vloggers show demos with vocals which was not what i wanted. I wish you gave a comparison with the H2n also. Because i am confused between both.
Thanks for the demos.
Great way of breaking it down! Thanks so much
Not an impressing product in any way. The box depicts software (APP) features that are NOT avaiable for free. The Current free App comes under a new name (the old Zoom name was likely sold for good money!) and is just a simple gadget that does not let you decide the recording format and only uses sound together with video! No tweaking possible. The only feature available in combo with the free App is that you can monitor the result of gain settings for the microphone. Once you have learnt that, there is no point in using it again. Finally, as said in the above video, Flight Mode is recommended for serious use to avoid the very noisy cross talk from the phone when it communicates, incoming SMS or what have you. .
Why don't all pipemakers do this from the start??
Amen - to me, it makes so much sense... I hear the refrain from Fiddler on the Roof in the back of my head, "TRADITIOOOOOOON! TRADITION!" That's maybe an unfair and tired explanation, but I'm definitely a fan of threads for all reeds...
Heritage, thanks~ what a excellent - )
Keep playing those outlawed hymns and calling all the faithful to armour up. The heat is coming. Matt. 24 Crabtree does it too fast and voids the song of it's power and sobriety. He takes the Braveheart out of the song. You have done much better.
