  • As you know, or maybe you don't, I am a freelance prop stylist. Brands hire me to style photoshoots and sets for their products, furniture pieces, homes, etc. I am SO lucky to LOVE both of my jobs!! You see my life on RUclips, now come see my life on set.. as a prop stylist :-)

      @@christinegivens9048 I mean, I like my job now-- I'm a hairstylist. I get paid to be creative and gossip all day. The early grind of a career is not for the faint of heart. But if prop styling was big passion, no doubt worth it to switch!

    It’s really interesting seeing the difference between styling a space for living and styling for photos. I learned something. Like, you can do things (or not) for a photo that in real life would be impractical. You have so much creative leeway. Yet, the photos look like you could walk right in and join the party. So inviting! Beautiful job! ❤

      I thought the same thing! I think it is because our first reflex is to think about the practicality... But it is a photo shoot, nobody will come through those doors and this set up will be taken apart right after!

    Wow it's so interesting to see what a prop stylist ACTUALLY does. When you described it before, I thought you were just responsible for putting things here and there, on top of the table, counters etc. But based on this vid, you actually do a lot more! You decide the layout of the furniture, and pretty much everything!

    Many years ago I was a military wife and we had very little money, so I would buy a couple of sweet potatoes and grow the vines in hurricane style glasses. It was a very inexpensive way to have greenery in our humble military life home. I still think they are cute! Love your outdoor dining table styling!!

    As someone who’s currently working on building my prop styling portfolio, I love this content! I always come to your account for inspiration & would love to see more behind the scenes because there isn’t much of that content out there. The sets you created are beautiful, i love the mix match and all the colors and textures you used, you added so much life to the more simple/ modern furniture.     11:25 I love this setup! I’m so interested to hear what other people would do. It’s clear you have a much more elevated style (especially more so than all of the current squiggle and checkerboard trends), but I’d love to know more about what sets you apart!     Wow- this is easily one of my favorite videos you’ve ever done. It was just so interesting/fun to watch it come together. I honestly thought that the white/black outdoor set from the first shoot was too sterile, and I had no clue how you were going to make it work, but you did! Also, I loved the red blanket across the lounge chair. Please do more of these vids if other clients let you. It was enjoyable to see some of your friends on set as well!

    Stick a candle in a plant. Great idea. Loved what you did. The great thing about neutral furniture is that it can be changed so easily with pillows & other accessories. You didn’t overdo it either. Well done.

    This is an inspiration! After moving to an urban setting from farmland Southern IL, I find that I am able to see beyond service jobs, teaching, and nursing. My first friend I met does costume design for a local drag bar and my other friend works at an indie jewelry startup. I am so proud and feel the most creative in a while. This is a definite passion I am finding! Thank you!!

      She did explain more of how she got into prop styling in a video posted maybe 2 to 4 months ago I just happened to come across like yesterday where she is pickling an onion and she talked about where she went to school, got her internships & how she eventually got into into prop styling so if you look it up, it’s here on her page you can watch that and she’s inspired me too, so I understand your interest as well.

    I really enjoyed it and would love to see more. When I owned a vacation rental management company I did everything, bought furnishings, soft goods, booked photographers then I would go during the shoot and style each room. I really enjoyed that part of the business.

    Until I started watching your videos, I hadn’t heard of prop stylist. It’s cool to see the particulars of your job. I dig that the resulting vignettes are casual, a “friends hanging out” vibe.     The dining setup was SUPES kewt. Potato plants!
    Also the lumbar cushion you were debating in the lounge setup = NEED IT.
    This was fun, even though you can see how uncomfortable it makes you to film in public (which I find endearing, these RUclipsRS who are all confidently filming in public places like they own it, irritate the hell out of me).

    I love your table setting! I just saw another RUclipsr doing one of these and I didn’t get the vibe that I got here, like we are in the middle of a get together. I thought you needed a little color on set 3 and set one. Perfect. You get the vibe that this is a well lived place instead of furniture ad.     Loved it! Obviously you do such a great job. If there was one critique I would make because I worked with a wine distributor for like 15 years is that the wine didn’t need to be that yellow but for the shoot it’s fine because I know when things are on camera and photographed, it’s gonna look a little different and you’re the expert and you have inspired me some because I have a degree in merchandising, but have worked more in the retail fashion side, but I have worked on set as an actress & model yet your videos just made me realize-I could do some work and prop styling which I discussed with my mom years ago, but kind of forgot, and I’ve pivoted since the pandemic with my own resell business, which includes moore Home, we are and I focus more on designing my house and helping others so that’s how I came across your channel and really like your concert. I hope to see more of these prop, Styling videos, Thanks for taking us along😊
