Already know I messed up a few times identifying the group members haha. Bear with me! 💜
They have their own 'TV shows' too. BTS In The Soop (Forest), where they all go and stay together in the countryside. Bon Voyage, where they all travel overseas, and Run BTS where they play silly games/ do tasks. They are all funny, very entertaining, and very, very different from their on-stage performances. They really don't take themselves seriously at all. You can see the banter and closeness which has come from spending a lot of time together. I'm going to suggest a Run BTS Episode 126/127 (very hard to choose), just get a taste, but all their shows are very funny. Just a thought, and so you are aware of these if they pop up on you travel down the BTS rabbit hole lol.

@@nickforell1 Run BTS episodes are typically about 30 minutes long but you won't notice because time flies as you get sucked into the fun.
When I was new to the fandom, I watched tons of compilation/funny videos about the members..makes it easier for me to identify them individually than just watching the music videos..maybe it would work for you too
For RM I think the fake love was from peers, for Suga it was from family and J-Hope it was from toxic fans. They each tried to force themselves into moulds for others until those relationships broke.

There are several people on RUclips that teach Korean. One such person has analyzed each member of BTS's speech. He states that RM has created his own dialect. RM has spent most of his life writing prose poems,and lyrics and it has effected his sentence structure and use of words and punctuation. He also uses 21st century rap slang. He speaks in longer,more flowing sentences.
I am also new to BTS. It takes awhile to identify them. One day it will just click. From people who have gone to live concerts, JHope is quite the showman. It was him that blew them out of the water. They talked about him for weeks after the concert.

No. It's not about their artistic freedom. They were free. This is about relationships. And yes their production to date is the best of anyone. No one is mad at you for not knowing everyone yet. It took me weeks and weeks. Magnitude is a great word. They create Masterful Masterpieces of Great Magnitude!

The overall series (The Love Yourself Trilogy) is a deep and meaningful story that has a relationship aspect to it but is not ultimately about the relationship itself. This song itself is about a romantic relationship going wrong but is also part of a bigger story.
@@nickforell1 also, its part of a storyline called the BU, so the mv isnt related to the lyrics, the lyrics relate to the storyline for the Love Yourself trilogy, the mv is related to another deeper storyline that started in 2015, called the BU (Bangtan Universe), but youre not ready yet, their music is life transitional phases(adolescent, youth, young adult, adulthood), they started as teens, their debut era was their perspective, inspirations, etc as teen boys, youll see the transition as the years go by with every phase they grow through, which is why we always let reactors know to read the lyrics because these are their own stories, thoughts, perspectives, motivation, etc... as they😮😮 are living.....lmao, youve only scratched the surface friend, so just keep in mind that most of their albums are series/trilogy/era with a specific storyline, there are some single albums but they tie in with each phase as well. They also release a Japanese version which also is part of the trilogy, Like Love Yourself trilogy has Face Yourself Japanese album, Their school trilogy(debut era) has Wake Up Japanese album, same songs just in Japanese, just an example.
Their albums follow a theme. They have a story arc through each set of albums. RM said that they wrote lyrics that could make you think more deeply and even revisit with a different understanding. 💜

Not sure, but I think that word for doll can also be translated as puppet. Some of their (magnificent!) stage performances of Fake Love had them with actual strings attached, moving like marionettes. These moves at 8:54-9:00 look like that too.
Yes, this is one of those mvs that uses practical effects. When JK is running through the hall, the floor is made of blocks that are actually falling away. (Did they have him on safety wires? I hope!) The water gushing into Jimin's space is real. The fire was real.
Their series of albums explored first looking for young love, then finding love, making changes in hopes of keeping that love, then realizing one isn't being fair to oneself. One needs to learn and maintain self-love to have a "real me" to offer.
Don't worry about not getting their names right. In time, you will get them. But you focus more on the lyrics and love your genuine reactions.

Most Army prefer not to listen to the color-coded lyric versions of BTS songs because there are issues with the Korean to English translations. But, they really helped me learn each members singing voice and that helped me learn who each member was. Learn their voice and forget about the hair color!😊

I totally agree with this. Hair colour is constantly changing but their voices and styles are all so unique. This is the way that helped me in the beginning as well to remember who each one was.

I enjoyed your reaction and your interpretation. Thank you. There are a lot to digest from this mv. Every props and stage set ups are there for some purposes and symbols. The back statue symbolizes "see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil" and the dance movements each members covering their mouths, ears & eyes match the statue. The water fall, key hole, a flower, kids toys, mirror, fire, piano, cell phone, candy bars are all from their BU with stories. Yes, the song's ONE of many interpretations is about you put on a make to please someone and relationships ( between you & yourself, you & friends, you & parents and siblings, you & lover....). Floor dropping, fire & water fall, they are all real.

Hi, Nick, I'm new to your channel and I've been going through all of your BTS videos. This is my first comment because anything that I might have commented before has already been written in the comments section. With this song, however, it's a little different. BTS songs can be interpreted in multiple ways sometimes. There are times when the video means one thing, the song and it's lyrics mean something else to ARMY, and then again, there's another meaning to the members and their personal lives. There can even be an additional meaning that the boys were trying to convey. Yes, I've seen BTS songs and MVs that can have five different meanings. They're just that talented at writing songs.
This song, in particular is one that I want to talk to you about because I have a slightly different take on it and it's meaning than most ARMYs do and most ARMYs would disagree with my interpretation of it. I thought that I would share it, though, and give you a slightly different perspective on the song. To give a little bit of background, BTS has said several times, including in several songs, that they aren't sure that they deserve all of the love that they receive from ARMY. They don't feel as if they have done anything to deserve it. The have also commented on how ARMY thinks that they are open and honest with us and they are, as much as they can be, but there are still a lot of things that they hide from us. Suga has said in one of his solo songs that the general public may think they know him but they really don't. Jimin has a song in which he asks ARMY who we want him to be, because he can be anyone we want. He was genuinely surprised when Weverse was flooded with everyone saying that we wanted him to be himself or whoever he wanted to be, rather than being someone he's not for us.
The point of all of that background is because I think that the "fake love" that they are talking about is ARMY's love for them. They lie about who they are, pretend to be happy when they're sad, and mold themselves into who we think they are, rather than being their genuine selves. Jimin even has a song called "Lie" that talks about how he's caught in a lie and can't get free. How he wants his smile back. To me, BTS feels, or at least they did at one time, that ARMY's love for them was fake love, because we didn't know who they really were as people. Of course, we still only know what they are able to show us, but I think that at this point, they have come to realize that our love for them is not the typical love that fans have for an artist. BTS gives us comfort, support, and helps us find strength when we need it. They have literally saved lives, including mine. We see their faults and flaws, the ones they allow us to see, but we honestly don't care. No one is perfect. Sure, they have flaws, but none of those flaws is so bad that ARMY would turn their backs on BTS. A few casual fans might, but most of ARMY would never abandon them. Back when this song was written, they really didn't understand or believe that. Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to explain why I believe that the fake love that they're singing about is ARMY's love for them. Well, what they thought it was, anyway.
Thanks for the reaction. I think you were right. I think this is saying when you fall in love you try to conform to what they want. Sometimes so much that you forget who you are. And this is “fake love” because you are not being yourself. It’s fake love to yourself and to the other person.

You got RM, Jin and Jungkook right - hey, that's progress! 💜When I was new to BTS I learned their names pretty fast though for some odd reasons I had difficulties with J-Hope and Jungkook - I just mistook one for the other. Now, looking back I feel kinda dumb - they literally look nothing alike. Hahaha. 😅

I view this song as a commentary about not being able to keep up with the pressures and expectations of being idols, even the pressure placed on them by the fans who love them the most. Definitely relatable as a relationship song as well, but I think the lyrics are particularly interesting when viewed through the lens of the artist/idol experience. They were particularly burnt out during this era...
I see so the weight of all the pressure that was put on them influenced this. Such a powerful song
@@nickforell1 Right, because they keep saying for you i would have made myself perfect, i wish love were as perfect as love itself (as in, the ideal of love) -- to me that is about how idols are meant to be seen as so perfect that they're practically not human, they are instead worshipped by fans. yet that is an unsustainable pressure and inevitably the image cracks, so BTS both apologizes and also asks fans not to place that kind of fake love on them. it could also be a commentary on the expectations of critics/the media who have often turned on BTS at the drop of a hat, even as they praised BTS for making Korea proud.
I agree with you! The scene with Tae and the flashing screens and the phone turning to dust represent that idea very well. And it's not just Idols but anyone who live their life on social media.
This song is linked to other songs and it's part of the BU content, the storyline that crosses some albums.
The fire, the toys and the snickers, the water, the cell phones at the wall, the sense of hopelessness in Jin's face, the blue ship container, etc.
Fun fact: please turn upside-down the words in the mirror "Save me" (it's the name of a song) and see what happens 😅😅😅

It’s also really hard to learn them by appearance when you skip around to different eras in the last ten years, because they literally started as children and their looks have changed as they matured. There face shapes have literally changed as they lost baby fat.

just a suggestion: you can do music vid + dance practice vid in one reaction, it's more satisfying. The dance practice vids are really cool and somehow the visual presentation can really enhance the sound of a song. I've disliked a song before, but started liking it after seeing the dance practice vid. I sometimes even prefer the dance practice vid over the music vid lol. There's a dance practice vid for nearly every music vid (that is a full group song). Don't worry about not being a dancer or not understanding dance, you can just enjoy it and point out parts you think are cool.
I also recommend the reactor Anthony Ray, he's a huge rap fan so he got into BTS initially through their rap work. He thought he wouldn't really like the more vocal-heavier songs of BTS, but surprisingly he liked a lot of them. His Fake Love music vid reaction is really good, as are his Black Swan and On Kinetic Manifesto reactions.
Don't worry about recognizing all the members correctly, you'll get it down eventually 😊
I 🫰 Anthony Ray. I started watching him from the very beginning and saw how his doubt turned him into a HUGE army. Lol. There are so many BTS reactors, but we always stick to the ones that become true ARMY!

I watched Anthony from the very beginning too and honestly was not expecting him to get into BTS that much, in part due to how he's such like a "manly man" kind of guy, you know haha. I thought he would be more close minded, didn't expect him to have such an appreciation for artistry. He's talked about how his taste in music was expanded after getting into BTS. I think his BTS reactions are among the best, especially the ones in the beginning. And I think he breaks down their rap work especially well. So I often recommend his channel especially to other guys who are just starting to get into BTS, especially those who are inclined towards hip-hop.
Their MVs are actually quite deep and most of time correlates with one another at some point I realized that this scene 5:08 was somewhat familiar jhope doing a reflection with suga and says he doesn't know himself... Fake love was one of their old songs compared to black swan.. there is also a scene in black swan where jhope and suga mirrored themselves again but in that MV in black swan instead of saying they don't know themselves, they faced their deepest selves and found themselves so them becoming a black swan was not necessarily a bad thing knowing your dark side and accepting it is better than running away from it was the message there

Oh yeah…when V is standing on that archway hallway of sorts, you’ll see it says “Save Me”. Yet if you look at it upside down, it says, “I’m fine”. (BTW, I went down the rabbit hole in 2016 when I was a young 48 years old. I saw their dance practice for Fire, and I was hooked. I watched a couple of videos and then decided to start from their first video and watched them in order. So, I watched them grow in warp speed. I watched their reality shows, their v-lives, and all the other fan made videos about them. So, I would suggest that because there’s an underlying story that runs through almost all their albums. This story is complex and has different meanings and themes. It’s really incredible. Their background is truly sad. What they went through to get where they are today is heart wrenching. But, ARMY never gave up on them and they continued to push on for us. We are so proud of them and support them in all their endeavors and never do or say things that would shed a bad light on them. They donated a million dollars to BLACK LIVES MATTER and ARMY matched it under 24 hours. They often donate to charities under the name ARMY and we donate under BTS. We also have different charities under the “Purple” projects. V said if BTS were a color, it would be purple because it’s the last color of the rainbow and is all inclusive, loving, understand and caring. So, there’s the Purple psychological organization, where psychologist around the United States offer free services to people who need it, there is the purple legal organization which provides legal services to people, free of charge, and countless other purple charities around the world that help those who need it, and it was all inspired by BTS and what they have done for us personally. you’ve been helping them. Inspiration. And there are no boundaries… Male, female, young old, black white, it doesn’t matter. In fact, their biggest demographic in their Fanbase is between the ages of 30 to 45. Their words h helped and influenced me in ways I didn’t expect. Especially Suga’s. He’s got a great way of making you look at things more simply and it makes you step back and realize that even though shit may be bad, from a different, wider perspective, you realize it’s ok. You’ll get through it. Just take one thing at a time and forget the rest and eventually you’ll find yourself free from whatever is going on that’s got you in a rut or a funk or whatever. I’m not a corny 56 year old woman. I’m a former attorney who now owns three clothing boutiques. Just so you know that I’m not crazy, lol! (Well, define crazy!)

So, since 2015, BTS has created a fictional storyline balled the BU (BTS Universe) and MANY of their mvs after that have tied into this storyline. So, you may see some imagery throughout mvs that you react to. The storyline is very beautiful and unique, but can be very overwhelming as its more than just mvs. Most newer ARMY don't know about it, but thats okay! Its not necessary to know but it is incredibly fun to dive into. There are explanation videos as well if you are interested but don't have the time to watch and read EVERYTHING

Ps: they rarelt use greenscreens. They use tons of them actually but very minimal. The only ones very evident were dynamite, butter, idol and my universe. Some MVs require them to use greenscreens, very rare and limited. They always choose to do them practically. Esp the platforms, Stages, backdrops, 80% of the time they construct everything from scratch.. Mostly the ones with fires, blowing up walls/anything, 2 floor stages etc.. are all real. 😁

My daughter use to quiz me about the members names. She'd ask me to identify who's who on posters. It didn't happen fast so no worries. You'll get there! 💜

Even though they are doing solo work the members attribute everything their doing to BTS . Everything they do is for and about BTS
They are a core unit that's so talented in so many different ways!
And on their MV's there is no such thing as coincidence... You might notice later on that Jin is the main character in their MVs because there is a plot and it's a very sad plot but I won't spoil it, but just know in the plot, 11:40 Jimin is associated with water because he's killed himself by drowning, Ang suga killed himself by igniting himself with fire, jhope overdosed himself and he is lying on Snickers or bar of chocolates because in his childhood trauma, his mom left him at the carnival with a snicker before leaving him. She never came back. Anyways most of them died, I won't be talking about RM,V, and Jungkook's death because it wasn't portrayed here hahhaha and it gets darker. If only you reacted to their oldest albums from 2013 to 2023 for them to all make sense

Obviously, you always get it right. But I want to mention another thing. The meaning of the Snickers shot at 8:42 is, "You're Not You When You're Hungry." I would suggest reading up on the albums and their themes before diving into the individual songs, cause it will give you a much better picture of what it’s all about. Each album is telling a story. This particular one is about relationships, moving from the euphoria of a new relationship to the heartbreak and in the end realizing you need to first love yourself before you can love others. When you know that, each song in the album makes sense.

But because it's the title track of the 2nd album of the Love Yourself series (Love Yourself: Her; the euphoric feeling of falling in love with a person. The full encompassing way it takes over your mind and how you feel like no one else has ever felt this way. You would do anything to keep them. Love Yourself: Tear;(the one this is on) the moment when a relationship falls apart because it was built on the fact that you are so insecure that you hid your true wants and needs from the other person. Love Yourself: Answer; in order to love someone fully you need to understand yourself and love yourself, not only for your own sake but also so you can share your full authentic self with the people you love.) it's kind of - in a way- NOT about a relationship 😅😅😅.

There are several layers to unpack in many of their songs. Here it’s about relationships. To others, but to yourself as well. And the storyline (bangtan universe) is just mindblowing, many scenes in the mv refer to it.

He's the one in a room full of candy bars. LOL! Suga is the one rapping in a room with a piano. Of all the members, he's the one who really knows how to play the piano. BUT I think what they are trying to portray when they say things like that is that if they CAN use practical effects for something they will. They have so many beautiful sets. If theres fire in a mv there was probably fire on set. If there was an explosion, there was probably something that went BOOM on set hahaha.
The set design is one aspect of why I love them. They put so much thought into the beauty and how lyrics will accompany the visuals

You’re going down the Rabbit Hole. You’re already an ARMY and don’t even know it! BTS composes their own music, writes their own lyrics, have a say in how their videos look, and J-Hope (my bias) learns the choreography and then adds his own skin to it and then teaches the others and makes it cohesive for them as a group. They were given artistic freedom which is unheard in Korea. Their music and their videos are their own. They rather fuck up than lip sync (and they do fuck up) and they don’t use CGI in their videos. That was all real water and fire and the floor breaking away under Jungkook was also real. They are legendary and have broken records held only by the Beatles and then broken their own records. There will not be a better band in our lifetimes because they’re a once in a generation group. And they are closer than if they blood brothers. They all support each other’s solo projects and often appear in their band mates solo videos. Anyway, you nice, keep going! Jimin can’t Jim out. J-Hoooope! These are things that you are going to eventually learn because like I said, you’re falling down the amazing rabbit hole that is life with BTS in it.

I know it might confuse you but there's this whole Bangtan Universe storyline that is very vast and connected over lots of their songs and they have signs connected to the storyline over different MVs and once you understand that, it blows your mind away literally. Pure art.

BTS wrote this song by themself actually the beat melodi and lyrics. at first this song didn´t have the rock instruments and Rm was stuck he thought something was missing and then he talked to their CEO who came up with the idea for the rock chores. and RM is a poet he wrote these lyrics. and in every BTS song the rapper always write their own verses. it´s crazy how talented they are. Rm is mainly a song writer the is not that good at making beats. Suga is an amazing producer he made music before he joined BTS. his new song that comes out april 21 he wrote and produced all by himself with no help. most of his songs is like that but he also works with a producer friend on other songs. he made a song for Halsey and Max amarican singers along with many korean artists. i could keep talking about how amazing they each are but that would be boring for you hehe. you will find out more along the way.
