Now, I know this isn't difficult for people to design wetsuits that deter sharks .. I have seen the designs over 20 years ago ..black and white zig stripes ...I'm pretty sure with digital prints we can make a surfer look virtually invisible to a shark.

They said tagging the dorsal fin is the equivalent to humans getting their ears pierced. I’m sure research has previously been done that would prove their theory that it’s not that painful for the sharks. They have thicker skin than we do, obviously.

I think you meant no white shark has ever been successfully kept in captivity for an extended period of time. The Monterey Bay Aquarium had one for several months in the 2000s.
Whales and elephants are some of the most intelligent and amazing creatures on our planet we need to stop slaughtering them we need to learn more about them and maybe humans become a better species they seem to be doing fine if we leave them alone!
But the tags hurt, because they are a renitency to the water and if they stay out of their skin it's like a wooden chip standing out from your skin that everyone is constantly touching. It hurts.
the scale and scope of the plastic pollution problem is unbelievable, and so depressing. seeing how much wildlife is killed by consuming plastics on just one tiny atoll in one of the most remote parts of the world is shocking, now multiply that by the billions of locales around the earth, and imagine the impact all these plastic things are having on life on earth.

Monterey Bay Aquarium did keep a juvenile white shark for a period of time before releasing it. The Steinhardt Aquarium in San Francisco had 1 one for a short time before it died.
we have a choice whether we want to go into the water or not. sharks, whales, and seals do not. it's just that simple. the ocean is their home. we are visitors and are often unwanted.
“The chances of being attacked by a shark are historically extremely low.” “By protecting seals, the seal population has skyrocketed. With the growth in seals, we see more sharks near shore. There was a fatal attack in Cape Cod last year, but it was the first in many decades.” Uh, anyone connecting the dots? Massive increase in sharks near shore in feeding mode, perhaps translates to more risk of shark attacks?

The USA is one of the richest countries out there but we have to buy plastic pellets from china ??? China says it doesnt want our garbage so the USA needs to step up and do some REAL recycling. There is so much plastic to be recycled. Battery powered cars are stupid. You still have to replace those batteries and they ain't cheap. How about more public transportation and get the stores to be clustered in areas where people can do all their shopping at one place. Now that would be a way to combat too many people on the road
12:17 I lived in the Northeast when I was young, and we owned a summer home right on the beach. My father had me watch Jaws with him when I was only seven or eight years old. Crab and lobster snips were bad enough, but after seeing jaws, I was terrified. I still am if I’m being entirely honest.
And all too often we hear from the capitalist controlled republiCONS "climate change is a hoax". There's a great 3 part series from Frontline/PBS called "The Power of Big Oil" that is very eye opening on the intentional subversion of facts they put out and how many people it convinced burning fossil fuels was a good thing. Makes me so angry.
Very good video and we trespass on their domain and then blame them for attacking humans which rarely happens because seals are a fat rich prey that sustains them for a long time but we on the other hand are very lean and probably just juveniles are to blame for most white shark attacks on humans and most of the time they take a bite and turn loose but their teeth are so razor sharp people die of blood loss.
It's good to know that they know How much the Shark feel when drilling holes in it's dorsal fin, because of course the Shark told them it doesn't feel a thing.....
I'm sure through all of the research on sharks they know what parts have nerve endings and which don't. Their skin is basically like armour and with their fins being mostly cartilage-like, they probably don't feel much of anything.
I can only imagine how bad it is...I don't understand WHY these corporations etc use these plastics/etc. We all have to live here. What good is saving some change if it's hurting things for Decades/causing extinction
These parents need to remember that we are invading the sharks home. People have no business complaining about sharks killing humans. You assume the risk when you enter the ocean. In the ocean people are part of the food chain.

They are like gigantic dogs, looking for pets and scratches. I know one shark is named Emma, and there is another, a male, I believe. Cannot remember his name. There are videos here on RUclips. ♥️♥️
@@tiabeaniesemotionalsupportdmon YESSS !! I've seen both on t.v.& youtube !! Thank you so much for your reply ! I absolutely loved those stories / videos ,too !! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Are you talking about Ocean Ramsey? She is setting a very dangerous precedent by not respecting sharks' space. A lot of shark scientists are appalled by her lack of foresight.
This kind of behaviour will embolden other less than knowledgeable tourists to want close-ups with wildlife without taking responsibility for their own actions when faced with an adverse reaction from the animal. It puts the human being and animal in danger. More importantly, it threatens the existence of that species from reactionary humans amongst us.
@@mithulahiri4105 NO !! Who's that !? I was talking about Critina Zenato !! Her story with the shark " foggy eye"! & Jim & Emma .Thank you. 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
I have followed you for years and I got to say I appreciate your mission. I understand what you’re trying to do and somebody Hass to do something. We only have one ocean one see if we don’t protect it There will be nothing left. Thank you for your mission. I appreciate what you’re doing. Stay well stay safe. This is Shepherd is one mean machine with some outstanding people on it thank you all
So embarrassing when Americans come to my city to help clean up our part of the Pacific Ocean here. I'm also a volunteer and we pick up what seems like tons of trash including plastic and cigarette tips. Neverending.
How is it embarrassing?!🤔🤔 Not all Americans know or have no idea how bad our ocean is! Atleasst their doing their part to try an help clean up!
Don’t be embarrassed
I'm in Baja California, Mexico. And here unfortunately the laws are so bad when it comes to dumping trash in the ocean or anywhere else for that matter.. It's awful and yes- very embarrassing.
@@ThomasBMagwn She's saying the people who throw trash everywhere are embarrassing not the people helping to clean up.
@@DoobSac ohh okay. Cool
That drill going through the fin is a bit too much for me. How would they even know how painful it is.
it is revolting
I remember the scientist who said certain sharks were safe to be in the water with when one bit his calf off.
Thank you for your excellent report about these important issues right now in the world
I never get tired of watching the humpbacks. Such fascinating cretures
Now, I know this isn't difficult for people to design wetsuits that deter sharks .. I have seen the designs over 20 years ago ..black and white zig stripes ...I'm pretty sure with digital prints we can make a surfer look virtually invisible to a shark.
They see and hear movement so thats not possible lol
6:18 The White is worn out yes, but also when sharks are flipped on their backs they go temporarily catatonic.
Obviously it's a complicated topic and it still needs to be managed but the Sharks are in those waters to eat i.e. survive. The swimmers are there for leisure. Find another hobby
Or find a pool or a lake. These idiots are front & center for Darwin's award ceremony
That looks so painful. How do they know the level pain that the shark is experiancing.
They said tagging the dorsal fin is the equivalent to humans getting their ears pierced. I’m sure research has previously been done that would prove their theory that it’s not that painful for the sharks. They have thicker skin than we do, obviously.
The the sifter r you use for sifting the plastics please tell me what was it made of... ? And how about the gloves and how about the Crocs that you was wearing on the beach.?
Heard the Humpbacks sing with an underwater microphone in Maui. Ah-mazing ❤️🐋
I lived in Maui and got to experience that ONCE and it was the most amazing experience. You can hear the squeals of the dolphins too!!!!
Consider this:
The oil industry saved the whales. We didn't need the whale oil anymore.
@@lilbbmuffin I have been on 2 African safaris and consider that whale trip in my top 5 travel favorites! Beautiful and wonderful creatures! I’m visiting San Diego currently and would go on a watch trip here except my hubs is super motion sick
@@veramae4098 And if people would wise up, we won’t be so dependent on the oil industry eventually. Since we’re all in agreement about the environment and the ecological system. It extends to the entire planet, land and sea alike. It’s hard to imagine there will be enough change to do a whole lot of good at this point. But we could at least TRY our best to undo the damage that’s already been done.
I’ll never take the Whale Wars guy serious after that South Park episode lmfao 😂😂😂
But the tags hurt, because they are a renitency to the water and if they stay out of their skin it's like a wooden chip standing out from your skin that everyone is constantly touching. It hurts.
Sharks are cold blooded so do not feel any pain.
That little white shark was smaller than I expected. It looks cute at that size.
the scale and scope of the plastic pollution problem is unbelievable, and so depressing. seeing how much wildlife is killed by consuming plastics on just one tiny atoll in one of the most remote parts of the world is shocking, now multiply that by the billions of locales around the earth, and imagine the impact all these plastic things are having on life on earth.
What brand is your upper receiver? Thank you for the great video!👍🏼
What a great episode! The sea mining was very interesting, whales are always fascinating and as for the sharks, I wonder how many people lost their lives driving to the beach? Maybe automobiles need to be stopped? Duh, if you don’t want to take the risk, just don’t swim there. All animals have a right to be on the planet. Not just the ones that serve a purpose to humans.
Wonder if other great whites and sharks, pick up on the frequency coming off the tracker, they tag them with?
Monterey Bay Aquarium did keep a juvenile white shark for a period of time before releasing it. The Steinhardt Aquarium in San Francisco had 1 one for a short time before it died.
Yeah, they die in captivity.
I love seeing people really try to challenge mother nature and when they get hurt, they cry foul.. The utter stupidity..
The drilling is pretty insane
very important video! our ocean always needs help D:
we have a choice whether we want to go into the water or not. sharks, whales, and seals do not. it's just that simple. the ocean is their home. we are visitors and are often unwanted.
Poor birds! We need to do our part, HUMANS! 😢
Save my kind
@@skotos5274 By protecting the web of life, we protect ourselves.
The drill part made me cringe 😂
“The chances of being attacked by a shark are historically extremely low.”
“By protecting seals, the seal population has skyrocketed. With the growth in seals, we see more sharks near shore. There was a fatal attack in Cape Cod last year, but it was the first in many decades.”
Uh, anyone connecting the dots? Massive increase in sharks near shore in feeding mode, perhaps translates to more risk of shark attacks?
Yeah these people are pretty dmb. Fact is people die from sharks every year.
4:10
You're gonna need a bigger boat.
😂😂😂
Every time I get into the ocean, I’m paralyzed with fear of getting bitten. I know it rarely happens, but once you get that fear, it’s hard to get rid of it
Haha I had a dream of a shark in the pool but I got over it really fast. I still like snorkeling, but I would never do spear fishing. That is just asking for trouble.
@@Shastasnow yeah you don’t want to spear fish, my ex wanted to do it in Bahamas and he was warned that it’s the thrashing that attracts the shark more then the blood.
Agreed! I guess it’s better to be hyper-vigilant than take unnecessary risks bc you think there’s no danger.
How would they know the pain level of a shark feels while drilling into his fin?
Damn those poor whales. And the entitlement of that woman complaining at city council, like would you complain if you went in a random person's house and they attacked you? We've already taken over land, no justification for killing a bunch of animals just so you feel safer swimming.
21:17 this clip really make me want to return to Avarua!!!! ❤ I love that place!!!
I hope the younger Japanese population will understand not to use whales as a food source.
Not really that big of a deal as long as they dont do it too much
Or dolphins! 😫
Protect nature at all cost. There’s no second Earth out there. And if there is, no guarantee we’ll reach it.
Exactly what you said
Absolutely...!
These are all over the ground in Erath county; this might also occur in ocean areas with high alkalinity(?). Erath county water hardness is 120-260 depending on city or well water. That kicks the metals out of solution on land too. Way to go covering great whites and Whale conservations!
Respect to these people
Heroes! 👏🏻
Keep up the good work Sea Sheppard 🙏🏾🙌🏾
Okay drilling that shark was unexpected. Poor guy was penetrated from all sides.
I do believe Osearch Shark Conservation boat is off our shores in Jacksonville, Fl. I do believe 3 new whites were seen and possibly tagged . Admiration for what you do.
I lived off grid in Alaska. We went out in a 16 little boat. It came rite up to the boat. I felt so privileged to have that happen. As far as the sharks , why do people mad about sharks. The oxen belongs to them not us!🦈 #SharkLover
I knew the plastic industry would be catastrophic for the environment back in the 80's.
This program is brought to you by black and decker cordless drills lol
11:30 Yeah. There are 8 billion people in the world. We can afford to lose one every few decades. We don't need to exterminate our sharks and seals to try and safety proof the world.
This is such a pristine place and plastic is a disrespect
intensely deep! Space rocks are good too!!
Nobody is really recycling plastic or glass right now. They have us put the stuff in the bin but our company says it gets burned for energy.
That shark is so cute just laying there. God is pure majesty.
why waste so much gas spotting them in a plane when a drone would do it just as easily from the boat itself?
oh snap that was from 2019, probably using drones now
Haha I said the exact same thing. Think smarter not harder. Also, it more environmentally friendly.
@joeporter4920 definitely had very advanced drone tech 5 years ago, that doesn't hold up. I still have no answer for why though lol
Me too! Changed me for life 😳
Deep sea mining sounds interesting but I doubt it will be as environmentally friendly as promised. I hope it won't be a disaster.
Don’t tell David Goggins that the humpbacks hold the record for longest distance travelled in a year by any mammal. 😂
The frogs are gone. The bees are gone. Fish and birds are eating plastic garbage. Humans are careening towards disaster.
And all too often we hear from the capitalist controlled republiCONS "climate change is a hoax". All thanks to the money that lines their pockets and the propaganda campaigns started in the 1970's by big oil and their bought and paid for "scientists" writing up fake studies. There's a great 3 part series from Frontline/PBS called "The Power of Big Oil" that is very eye opening on the intentional subversion of facts they put out and how many people it convinced burning fossil fuels was a good thing.
Makes me so angry.
"Its no big deal to take these rocks off the ocean floor"
*50 years later*
"Why are all the fish dead?"
I'm sure a wetsuit is not very tasty either! Nor polyester or nylon or whatever type of clothing a human is wearing.
Amazing man
It's good to know that they know How much the Shark feel when drilling holes in it's dorsal fin, because of course the Shark told them it doesn't feel a thing.....
I'm sure through all of the research on sharks they know what parts have nerve endings and which don't. Their skin is basically like armour and with their fins being mostly cartilage-like, they probably don't feel much of anything.
"it feels just like an ear piercing" okay, sure..😒
Love that he is working with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth 😂
Their methods are too invasive. Some of these people in some of these organizations, I question.......
Wow. Early today about 8hrs ago. I was reading about 1 of Osearch sharks. It traveled from nova scotia to now in the Carolinas.
Sharks are amazing
So sad to see the damage we've caused with the throw away society we live in and the effects it has on marine wildlife
Fun fact: sharks are friendlier and safer to be around than vending machines.
I can only imagine how bad it is...I don't understand WHY these corporations etc use these plastics/etc. We all have to live here. What good is saving some change if it's hurting things for Decades/causing extinction
Short-term mentality in this culture 😔
4:37 I knew I was going to hear this
You cant talk about great whites without having someone say it
13:05 - Sydney the shark peered around the corner like "buh-bye humans, off to a killer 3,000 ft deep party"
When will humanity learn that we only have one life and one planet
These parents need to remember that we are invading the sharks home. People have no business complaining about sharks killing humans. You assume the risk when you enter the ocean. In the ocean people are part of the food chain.
Great video on ocean life
And let's talk Deep Sea Mining, shall we?
Glad the sharks are back 😍🦈. Not keen on what they did to that poor shark though.
