Five of us just spent two days shooting my Ruger Precision 22lr and the very best we could get was 1.50" with five shot strings. We used a long list of ammo brands and found that it only seems to like two of them. CCI mini mags and Eley target, all the others were 2" and up. The changes I made to the rifle are, adjusting the trigger down to 2.24 lbs. target grip, Nikon 3-9X44 scope and a Surefire two chamber break that I had laying around. Nothing I did helped or hurt, it shot the same before and after each change so it was a big waste of money. I have had old target rifles from the 50s, 60 and 70s that will shoot rings around this so called target rifle. It's going to be finding a new home at the next gun show.
Yes, I've felt that frustration before as well. May be worth sending it to Ruger for an evaluation, they may change the barrel or at least figure out what the issue is... Sounds like something is definitely wrong. Take care
18-20in Match barrels are ideal. You can find barrels by typing ER Shaw Match barrel for Ruger Precision Rimfire into Google search bar. I'm not sure who has the best deal on one right now, but I got mine from Opticsplanet... Take care
@@bennettdavid904 Please do David. I live in Ireland and wish to descretly carry my rifle on my motorbike to deal with vermin. People seem to think its really bad to fold a precision gun. I like it and can handle the mod. Police here have no prob with this. Public may wonder though. Hence the reduction in backpack size))

Isn't the gun I'll guarantee
Could you use a padded vise on the receiver and use a wrench to break that barrel nut loose?
Probably so, the factory bbl nut isn't usually very hard to remove.
what type of barrel?
What about head spacing does this change with a different barrel
There will be different tolerances with different bbl manufacturers.
What scope are you running?
Was a Vortex Gen2 Razor but now it's an Athlon ARES ETR
We’re do I get the barrel you got. And do they make longer then 20 inch
