    Just a little side note, the fictional looking handguns in this film real guns, called the Claridge Hi-Tec/Goncz pistol. Whereas a lot of other pistols would get different models, like the Glock, the Beretta, etc., no firearm has produced anything like the Hi-Tec since,

    We see an extended conversation between the Rekall staff talking about how he already had memory implants while Arnie is still unconscious....
    Info the audience gets, and the character doesn't.
    And he never 'wakes up' in the movie.
    Therefore, it was all real IMHO... :D

    5:55 The Turbanator
    Michael Ironside always seems to lose a limb in a good film, you forgot to add a clip of when he loses his arm in the Machinist.
    Another fact about being in the vacuum of space, you don't explode, you freeze. The movie Sunshine gives a good example of this.
    This is a favourite of mine. It's brutal, but fun, much like Verhoven's other classic, Robocop.

    • @KarlBunker
      @KarlBunker 3 месяца назад

      Pedantic fun fact: Actually it's a myth that you'd freeze. Space being a vacuum, there's nothing to carry the heat away from your body except radiation. (That's why thermos bottles work.) You also wouldn't explode unless you tried to hold your breath, in which case your lungs could burst. Lack of oxygen would make you unconscious in about 15 seconds and dead in a few minutes.

    This is definitely an excellent movie. It's got great casting, an interesting premise and screenplay, and even 30+ years later it can generate discussions as to whether it was real or not. The 2012 remake was fine though I don't feel it was as smartly written as the original, going for a PG-13 rating toned down some of the fun in the 1990 one, and some of the easter eggs/callbacks to this one don't make sense in the 2012's story. I've mentioned it before but the Tom Cruise movie Minority Report started out as a sequel to this movie in the earliest draft.

    As Vincent Vega once said "That's a bold statement."
    Also, I know most people now think that it was all just in his head and there's some compelling for that but there's just no way. We see too many scenes without Arnold. All the scenes without him don't make any sense if it's just a memory implant. All of it actually happened.
    ...oh and I know it's just a movie and anyone can interpret it in any way they like. Whatever ending interpretation makes you enjoy the film more is the one you should go with. I mean you're objectively wrong and the reality you exist in is all in your head, unlike the world of the protagonist, but I'm not going to put anyone down just because they're psychotic. It's ok. You can't help it.
