Last story - my sister smokes but i don't, in all the years i have lived in my home my sister has always gone outside to have her cigarette, no matter what the weather. This was her choice not mine, she would always say i shouldn't have to be bothered by the smell to accommodate her, it's her habit not mine. That is what OPs sibling should be saying, not dictating that OP should let them vape. 🧐

I vape, my mom smokes, neither of us will do either inside my sisters houses. It's common courtesy and respect. You don't go into a non smoking home and light up, stinking up EVERYTHING and yellowing the walls and curtains. My mom doesn't even smoke inside her own home. She even hates the smell of cigarettes and cigarette smoke sticking to her and her clothes. And I'm trying to quit vaping. I'm tired of it. No one's allowed to smoke inside at any of mine or my family members houses.

Talking about the kid with adhd story, the parents should try exercising the kid with running and jogging as it helps with adhd. They should also try fidget toys that are quiet and not distracting for social events and school. Noise cancelling headphones with calming music can help as well to calm and de stimulate the kid during events.

    About the last story...
I was a smoker for 35 years, starting in my early 40s. I always thought quitting would be incredibly difficult. In my 20s, I tried quitting for a day or so, and once managed a whole week, but that was it.
Two months ago, I decided to go cold turkey. I did have nicotine spray and patches, but I only used the patches for a day and the spray for two weeks. Even with the cravings, I kept reminding myself that it's better for me to be smoke-free.
Since quitting, I've definitely noticed an improvement in my sense of smell. Other benefits might be there too, but I'm not sure yet.
Smoking... well, for a while I guess it was enjoyable, just part of the routine. But in my second week of not smoking, I had one puff and it hit me really strangely - a single puff of tobacco gave me a surreal high.
Anyway, good on the original poster for standing their ground - it's their house, their rules!

Adhd story: the guy honestly is doing the right thing. I will say the pattern of him inviting her to then disinvite her sucks but honestly there is a high possibility he says yes based on the info at the moment and then says no once new information occurs.
To be honest this just sounds like a normal hurdle that OP will have to handle. Having a child like hers is going to cause relationship hurdles regardless. She either works with this guy or handles her son first and *then* when his ADHD situation is “solved” then she can start dating

My former neighbor was named Wanda and she was way worse than ANY Karen I ever met. Truly obnoxious and thought she ruled the neighborhood.
2nd story - If it were me, I would end things. You and your son deserve better.
Last story - I am a non-smoker and do not allow smoking, or vaping, in my home as I have asthma. My home...my rules. I have a nice covered deck, just off the den, where guests are welcome to smoke. If they choose not to visit my home because they can't smoke inside, so be it. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. My SIL refuses to come to my home because I refuse to let her guilt me into changing the rule for her. Oh, well. My grandmother had a saying. Dont like it? Then it takes less of it to do you.

Last story: I am a vaper, and honestly it’s save me from smoking 30 a day and helped get off tobacco, I even managed a vape shop here in the uk. Is vaping good for you? Meh probably not, because it’s not something your body needs to function, (for the record I no longer use nicotine) I vape in my house, but it’s MY HOUSE my rules. All op is doing is saying MY HOUSE, MY RULES. It’s a simple as that op doesn’t want people to vape in her house then NO VAPING (or smoking obviously) I do not see any issue with that. OP’s sister needs a dose of reality to ditch the entitlement.

Story 2: Ask your son if he wants to go. If he doesn't want to go then keep him home. Ask your bf why he is telling you this. Is it because the party is not appropriate, is it because your son doesn't want to go, or is it because someone doesn't want kids there? Depending on the answer you can determine what you should do. Your bf is likely just trying to be respectful of your son, or of what the host of the party wants.
Story 3: Just try to be polite when you ask questions. From what you described it seems like it sounded a little sarcastic when you responded the first time.
Story 4: I don't think you're wrong at all. I would never want vapes/cigarettes in my home. Your sister is super addicted. She can go outside if she wants to smoke. Second hand smoking can cause addiction and lung cancer and I know how bad the smoke smells.

When my wife and I moved into our apartment, we were clearly told by management that there is to be no smoking or vaping inside any of the buildings. We were happy about this, because that was going to be a rule of ours anyway. Let’s just say it’s almost caused a few arguments. Managements rule is that if you want to smoke or vape, you have to be 25 feet away from the building, which basically means down in the parking lot. We had my family over for Christmas, and a few of them said they were going to step outside to smoke and vape. Unfortunately, I caught them doing it right outside of my apartment door, which is not allowed. One of them tried to argue with me that they didn’t want to go down the stairs to the parking lot, but I told them that was their only choice. If these rules are not followed, my wife and I could be evicted. We are responsible for any guests who are here and we are responsible to make sure they follow all of management’s rules. Again, we actually like the rule. We didn’t want that stuff in our house, and we didn’t feel like having to argue about our decision. We both have family members who are heavy smokers and frequent vapers, and let’s just say some of them do not like being away from their nicotine. But even once we get a house, our rule will be that you have to step outside if you want to do that. We shouldn’t have to breathe it in just because you want it.

Last story: OP is not the jerk, I had friends who would vape or smoke stuff in the bathroom of their own home or go outside because they wanted to be respectful of their non-smoking guests. They didn't make a fuss and it wasn't forced on them either, they just thought it would be a kind thing to do and made the decision themselves.
Also, while I'm not familiar at all with the short or long-term effects of smoking withdrawal, in my opinion once you start worrying about them is when you should know you have an addiction. Like if all you get is a little headache, you can shake that off no problem. But if you get a killer migraine and/or something else every time you don't use the vape, that's when you should know you got a problem.
