I live in Atlanta and they carry some of this line at the Ulta closest to me. One thing that should be noted is that Ulta carries products that may be sold in Walmart or Target and products that are only guaranteed if bought in salons. Ouidad and TXTR are not stocked in the same area. Ouidad is stocked near the salon with other high-end products like Redken, Paul Mitchell and Gabrielle Union's line and TXTR is stocked near the front of the store near products like Aussie. I purchased the ACV wash, the leave-in/rinse out conditioner, the moisture mask, the scalp saver and the control paste and have been wearing my hair in a blowout. I've seen the OG Cantu on the shelves before, but have not purchased those products because they contain ingredients such as Argan (Arginia Spinosa) oil and that makes my hair clump together and fall out. I tried the new line, and loved it, because it had more natural ingredients and no Argan oil. Typically, I use ABBA, Paul Mitchell, Theorie or Joico products for blowouts and the Kinky-Curly products for curly days. This is long, but it should also be noted that some of those who have reviewed the "treat" products have scalp conditions and the "treat" line has provided them, us, with some relief.
I tried the cream back when this vid came out. I did not get the mask. BIG MISTAKE. I just caught it on sale during Black Friday 2021. U were totally right --- it's the REAL WINNER, one of the best masks.
What a review! I spotted these on clearance in CVS today at abt 5 bucks & went back to see what u ladies thought. I got the deep conditioner (yay since someone used all my Miche!) the ACV shampoo! I'll try them tomorrow & happy I didn't pay full price! Thanks guys!!

Ladies this is an excellent review! Let me tell y’all something I had the worst experience at an Ulta salon! Very good observations!!!! I’m really upset about the things Cantu changed now that you ladies broke it down. Which sucks because their new leave in sleek works so much better on my hair. I may just have to go back to as I am -
those curls are really popping I see you have natural curly hair but those product is really defining those curls I just saw a girl use that leave in with XTREME wet line from Walmart for $2.96 I pick up some now I have to try TXTR can't wait for story time and Congratulations.
I go to Ultas for make up and Ultas use to have Mizani, Design Essential, Carol's Daughter, Deva Curls basically like y'all said salon products. I think Carol's Daughters and Shea Moisture are the only two lines that are still being sold at beauty supply stores, markets, drug stores along with Ultas. I like the Tea tree shampoo to treat dry itchy scalp.
Honestly I have never tried the Cantu products. I am always looking for a good mask though since I use a mask every wash day. I do love when you guys go live! Its always so much fun! 😊

Sheree Thomas Both lines, their Original line and this new TXTR have products that range from 10oz to 16oz. The pump bottles are 16oz and they have a leave in in one of their old lines that is 16oz. The gel tube is 10oz and the older co-wash TaylorAnne showed is 10oz. It just depends. Thank you for watching 😊➰💕➿
Just finished watching your video and I must say that both of your hair looks amazing 😍 Yes, I know this video is old, but had to say it. Also, if this is a review about the product and what it does, why does it matter if the manufacturer changed the image? At the end of the day, you want your audience to know if the products does what it says it'll do. And apparently it did. It also has better ingredients than the original version. Cantu just like everyone wanted a change. Good for them. $10 is nothing. That's still affordable, in my opinion especially for the size of the content. Thanks for the video

I have both lines but I got them from Curlbox. I tried the treat line and I loved it on my hair! It left it feeling super soft and it super easy to detangle. The only two things I didn’t like was that the shampoo didn’t have seal or something to close the bottle and the oil left my hair kinda greasy. Ooh yea also the conditioner didn’t have enough slip either. Thanks for the review ladies 😻

I love the OG Cantu shampoo and conditioner, but to be honest not all of Cantu’s products are sulfate and silicone free. I agree with your observations ladies. Thanks again! 👍🏽❤️
Great video ladies and great observation on packaging. I think Cantu is marketing the TXTR (texture) line as a high end product. Marketing is key here and probably testing the product before distributing to other markets like (Target, CVS, etc.) Look forward to the next review.

They already have plennnnnty of shelf space in Target and CVS. They could have slid this new line right on up there. They made the decision not to imho 😊 but hey, these products belong to Cantu. The older products definitely have more extracts and natural ingredients. I recently went sulfate and silicone free and i have been using the Cantu Curl Activator Cream. This video definitely makes me reconsider wanting to try the new products 💀
My mom is more of a Cantu girl than I am. For me, it doesn't matter what the package looks like, it's the performance. I don't go to Ulta as often. It's more expensive than other stores on certain products. I don't like that certain products are only exclusive to Ulta

Another great review...I have only tried the conditioning cowashf rom Cantu, none of the other products....You covered every question i had...Seriously i feel like Cantu has been around long enough that they could have been made the TXTR line long before this if they were serious about producing a quality ingredient laced product ...I feel like they are trying to revive the Cantu line because sales were probably dropping. Rebranding themselves with the white bottle...and the removal of the Kente cloth logo....They are definitely targeting a broader market that not only includes OUR natural hair community....A $4.99 product can only do so much and investing in adding the ingredients that were not in the original line is what people want more of now. It is clearly a case of shifting their demographic to compete with other natural hair lines that are targeting not necessarily ethnic hair but "wavy" hair. Seems like a last ditch effort to save a company that is struggling to stay relevant. The final results still look good though!

I guessed that I am mad for M.A.D Curls.😂 Curlbox was offering the Txtr Treat and Sleek line and I actually ordered the Treat line and I agree with the observations you both made about the performance of the products.
Thanks for the video. I'm a fan of Paula Begoun. She was famous for investigating products. I have her books and one thing I learned from her was: Real salon products don't exist. Only salon prices. It's true. If you look at ingredients from salon brands ... rarely the ingredients are that expensive. You always pay for the branding. And high-end imago sells to people. I also used to have Redken, Kevin Murphy, Kerastase and I am now looking my way into cheaper brands. With the ethnic thing, I understand their market expansion. Because a lot of people think if products are afro orientated they're going to be too heavy for their curls. While that doesn't need to be true. I'm also curious about products that you are trying. While I have different curls (I have 2C,3A curls and really thin hair). Like I want to try the Cantu and the Aunt Jacky Curl Mane-Tenance because of you guys. And the book that helped me a lot with my hair was Curly like me from Teri LaFlesh (she uses silicones etc in her hair but has gone from relaxed hair to awesome long hair). Before I also was thinking that I need different products than afro hair. But I think my hair is really going to benefit from tips I got from you Ladies. Happy with your channel. Hey ladies, first things first, gorgeous results. I don’t think I will be purchasing this line because I didn’t have any luck with the original one. And your observations were very interesting. The less colorful packaging was most obvious to me. Isn’t that something though that the labels are so colorful for natural hair products and more white with a little color for other demographics 🤔

I appreciate the observation about the product branding and product performance. Wavy hair has had numerous brand options for years. I wonder why beauty companies are not satisfied with the black natural market where they feel the need to switch up the kinky hair product for a wavy hair product? Very interesting Cantu, so I'm glad I continue to have numerous kinky hair product options from other reputable brands. The brown natural hair community has single-handed elevated the Cantu brand since 2009, so now that the market is saturated they are focusing on wavy hair. I "Cant"... with that...

I'm not checking for Cantu. Back 6, 7 years ago when I went natural and people were always comparing SheaMoisture and Cantu, I tried SheaMoisture, loved it, and never looked at Cantu again; I wasn't a product junkie back then. Maybe I should try it but it's such an old line that the sparkle factor is gone for me. Besides, SheaMoisture has prettier packaging to me, works very well for my hair, and I get great sales (always 40-60% off). I once got a coupon for a free shampoo with no purchase when they changed their shampoo and conditioner packaging last year.
Also, I buy my SheaMoisture from Ulta sometimes. I bought a huge stash around or right after Black Friday. They had a buy 1 get 1 50% off plus a 20% off entire order. Each product was like $5/6.

Love the video. Is there at least more product in each container maybe that's why it is more? I know Shea Moisture had a specific line at Ulta at one time also. It was like twenty dollars and they do not even sell it anymore, I wonder if this new cantu will stick around.
Letta510 Thank you for watching. Both lines, the Original and the TXTR line have packaging ranges from 10oz to 16oz depending on what you’re comparing it to. For instance the tube of gel LoriAnne used was 9.99 where’s their original line had the co-wash, same size for 3.00-4.00 both are 10oz. Cantu’s leave in conditioning treatment from their older product line is 5.00 for a 16oz size whereas there New TXTR pump leave in and other pumps are 9.99. So it depends on what you’re comparing it to. Hope that helps you out.

Thank you for the review. I like Cantu and it is one of the few products that actually works well with Eco Style gel, which is great. Just like your mom, I was surprised at the price, because Cantu products are very inexpensive. However, I will pay $9.00 for good conditioning masque, and ULTA has a deal with buy one and get one 50% off. So, I was okay. The cost is still more reasonable than a lot of products I buy. I did not like the exclusivity of just having it at ULTA. I don't care much for this practice. Shea Moisture did the same with the new Manuka, Honey, and Yogurt line. So, whatever to that.

So my conclusion with your observations are the same as the other regular brands..... They want to appeal to more non ethnicity clients. Therefore they have to be reformed to blend in with the other brands like u said....Deva, mane choice, etc. I personally dont think anything wrong with that as brands like pantene tresemmee and so on want to blend in with more ethnicity. LoriAnne, don't forget we live in a social media/chat rooms/texting (txtn) era, so brands are targeting and attracting their audience in that fashion. Patty Brown At the end of this video we are still wondering that as we shared. Their original line was effective and this line is no better or worse than that line. Indeed, why the price jump? They aren’t necessarily “salon product” prices. Those can set you back anywhere from 20.00 on up, But they certainly are higher than their affordable original line. Very strange. Honestly, this video left me confused. I came to your channel for the first time yesterday and left with the opinion that you would never shop at Ulta or buy Ouidad or Deva after you called out their packaging and said you only shop at Target. So, I was surprised to see you featured on the Ouidad Blog this morning. Of course, I then had to watch your latest Ouidad video where you talk about loving the packaging and how it's your favorite product. So not subscribing for now but, like TaylorAnne, I do give the benefit of the doubt and will give another shot. That being said I did purchase some Cantu products from Target and the Ouidad Climate Control Gel yesterday and am having the best hair day I have ever had.

M.A.D.CURLS i commend you for your patience and honesty with people who jump to conclusions. I know you like devacurl and ouidad but acknowledge the price bc i have watched your videos for so long. All you are saying is that Cantu’s new line looks very different from the original line to try to reach a wider audience at ulta. I got what you’re saying and honestly thought it was weird as well. Kuddos for you being honest, as always.
I think the biggest differest here is that these products are Petrolatum and Coconut Oil unlike Cantu original which is geared towards folks who either don't want all that oil or have allergic reasons to coconut oil on their scalp 🙋🏾♂️. Also you get 3-4 more ounces than the original hence the bigger price tag.
Ok so i was writing my comment while watching the video just to mention SHEA MOISTUREEEEE but glad you guys did, it’s the exact situation just a little more on the lowkey...! To be completely honest it just sounds like cantu is trying to de-black it’s self and start catering to... well, white consumers. i’m glad you guys spoke about this because i really didn’t understand why cantu would decide to sell a “natural” hair line only in ulta, very... interesting.............

One thing that should be noted is that Ulta carries products that may be sold in Walmart or Target and products that are only guaranteed if bought in salons. Ouidad and TXTR are not stocked in the same area. Ouidad is stocked near the salon with other high-end products like Redken, Paul Mitchell and Gabrielle Union's line and TXTR is stocked near the front of the store near products like Aussie.
I purchased the ACV wash, the leave-in/rinse out conditioner, the moisture mask, the scalp saver and the control paste and have been wearing my hair in a blowout. I've seen the OG Cantu on the shelves before, but have not purchased those products because they contain ingredients such as Argan (Arginia Spinosa) oil and that makes my hair clump together and fall out. I tried the new line, and loved it, because it had more natural ingredients and no Argan oil. Typically, I use ABBA, Paul Mitchell, Theorie or Joico products for blowouts and the Kinky-Curly products for curly days.
This is long, but it should also be noted that some of those who have reviewed the "treat" products have scalp conditions and the "treat" line has provided them, us, with some relief.
I tried the cream back when this vid came out. I did not get the mask. BIG MISTAKE. I just caught it on sale during Black Friday 2021. U were totally right --- it's the REAL WINNER, one of the best masks.
What a review! I spotted these on clearance in CVS today at abt 5 bucks & went back to see what u ladies thought. I got the deep conditioner (yay since someone used all my Miche!) the ACV shampoo! I'll try them tomorrow & happy I didn't pay full price! Thanks guys!!

those curls are really popping I see you have natural curly hair but those product is really defining those curls I just saw a girl use that leave in with XTREME wet line from Walmart for $2.96 I pick up some now I have to try TXTR can't wait for story time and Congratulations.
I go to Ultas for make up and Ultas use to have Mizani, Design Essential, Carol's Daughter, Deva Curls basically like y'all said salon products. I think Carol's Daughters and Shea Moisture are the only two lines that are still being sold at beauty supply stores, markets, drug stores along with Ultas. I like the Tea tree shampoo to treat dry itchy scalp.
Honestly I have never tried the Cantu products. I am always looking for a good mask though since I use a mask every wash day. I do love when you guys go live! Its always so much fun! 😊

Sheree Thomas Both lines, their Original line and this new TXTR have products that range from 10oz to 16oz. The pump bottles are 16oz and they have a leave in in one of their old lines that is 16oz. Just finished watching your video and I must say that both of your hair looks amazing 😍 Yes, I know this video is old, but had to say it. Also, if this is a review about the product and what it does, why does it matter if the manufacturer changed the image? At the end of the day, you want your audience to know if the products does what it says it'll do. And apparently it did. It also has better ingredients than the original version. Cantu just like everyone wanted a change. Good for them. $10 is nothing. That's still affordable, in my opinion especially for the size of the content.

I have both lines but I got them from Curlbox. I tried the treat line and I loved it on my hair! It left it feeling super soft and it super easy to detangle. The only two things I didn’t like was that the shampoo didn’t have seal or something to close the bottle and the oil left my hair kinda greasy.
Ooh yea also the conditioner didn’t have enough slip either.

Great video ladies and great observation on packaging. I think Cantu is marketing the TXTR (texture) line as a high end product. Marketing is key here and probably testing the product before distributing to other markets like (Target, CVS, etc.) Look forward to the next review.

Another great review...I have only tried the conditioning cowashf rom Cantu, none of the other products....You covered every question i had...Seriously i feel like Cantu has been around long enough that they could have been made the TXTR line long before this if they were serious about producing a quality ingredient laced product ...I feel like they are trying to revive the Cantu line because sales were probably dropping. Rebranding themselves with the white bottle...and the removal of the Kente cloth logo....They are definitely targeting a broader market that not only includes OUR natural hair community....A $4.99 product can only do so much and investing in adding the ingredients that were not in the original line is what people want more of now. It is clearly a case of shifting their demographic to compete with other natural hair lines that are targeting not necessarily ethnic hair but "wavy" hair. Seems like a last ditch effort to save a company that is struggling to stay relevant. The final results still look good though!

Thanks for the video. I'm a fan of Paula Begoun. She was famous for investigating products. I have her books and one thing I learned from her was: Real salon products don't exist. Only salon prices. It's true. If you look at ingredients from salon brands ... rarely the ingredients are that expensive. You always pay for the branding. And high-end imago sells to people. I also used to have Redken, Kevin Murphy, Kerastase and I am now looking my way into cheaper brands. With the ethnic thing, I understand their market expansion. Because a lot of people think if products are afro orientated they're going to be too heavy for their curls. While that doesn't need to be true. I'm also curious about products that you are trying. While I have different curls (I have 2C,3A curls and really thin hair). Like I want to try the Cantu and the Aunt Jacky Curl Mane-Tenance because of you guys. And the book that helped me a lot with my hair was Curly like me from Teri LaFlesh (she uses silicones etc in her hair but has gone from relaxed hair to awesome long hair). Before I also was thinking that I need different products than afro hair. But I think my hair is really going to benefit from tips I got from you Ladies. Happy with your channel. I appreciate the observation about the product branding and product performance. Wavy hair has had numerous brand options for years. I wonder why beauty companies are not satisfied with the black natural market where they feel the need to switch up the kinky hair product for a wavy hair product? Very interesting Cantu, so I'm glad I continue to have numerous kinky hair product options from other reputable brands. The brown natural hair community has single-handed elevated the Cantu brand since 2009, so now that the market is saturated they are focusing on wavy hair. I "Cant"... with that...

I'm not checking for Cantu. Back 6, 7 years ago when I went natural and people were always comparing SheaMoisture and Cantu, I tried SheaMoisture, loved it, and never looked at Cantu again; I wasn't a product junkie back then. Maybe I should try it but it's such an old line that the sparkle factor is gone for me. Besides, SheaMoisture has prettier packaging to me, works very well for my hair, and I get great sales (always 40-60% off). I once got a coupon for a free shampoo with no purchase when they changed their shampoo and conditioner packaging last year.
Also, I buy my SheaMoisture from Ulta sometimes. I bought a huge stash around or right after Black Friday. They had a buy 1 get 1 50% off plus a 20% off entire order. Each product was like $5/6.

Letta510 Thank you for watching. Both lines, the Original and the TXTR line have packaging ranges from 10oz to 16oz depending on what you’re comparing it to. For instance the tube of gel LoriAnne used was 9.99 where’s their original line had the co-wash, same size for 3.00-4.00 both are 10oz. Cantu’s leave in conditioning treatment from their older product line is 5.00 for a 16oz size whereas there New TXTR pump leave in and other pumps are 9.99. So it depends on what you’re comparing it to. Hope that helps you out.

Just like your mom, I was surprised at the price, because Cantu products are very inexpensive. So my conclusion with your observations are the same as the other regular brands..... They want to appeal to more non ethnicity clients. Therefore they have to be reformed to blend in with the other brands like u said....Deva, mane choice, etc. I personally dont think anything wrong with that as brands like pantene tresemmee and so on want to blend in with more ethnicity. Great job.

LoriAnne, don't forget we live in a social media/chat rooms/texting (txtn) era, so brands are targeting and attracting their audience in that fashion. TXTR looks 😎 cooler and more hip than Texture , to some (not to me!). Very interesting observations on their marketing tactics, I wouldn't have noticed that, thank you. Patty Brown At the end of this video we are still wondering that as we shared. Their original line was effective and this line is no better or worse than that line. Indeed, why the price jump? They aren’t necessarily “salon product” prices. Those can set you back anywhere from 20.00 on up, But they certainly are higher than their affordable original line. Very strange. Honestly, this video left me confused. I came to your channel for the first time yesterday and left with the opinion that you would never shop at Ulta or buy Ouidad or Deva after you called out their packaging and said you only shop at Target. So, I was surprised to see you featured on the Ouidad Blog this morning. Of course, I then had to watch your latest Ouidad video where you talk about loving the packaging and how it's your favorite product. So not subscribing for now but, like TaylorAnne, I do give the benefit of the doubt and will give another shot. That being said I did purchase some Cantu products from Target and the Ouidad Climate Control Gel yesterday and am having the best hair day I have ever had.

We quite like Ouidad, Deva and loooove Ulta because we love makeup. But as with anything in life you like some things and other things you don’t when it comes to a brand or product. WWe love Target because we are product reviewers and they have a HUGE ethnic product selection. We enjoy using products by brands that allow us to give our true opinions without getting offended and not using our work. Our channel never ask viewers to subscribe. We never have and we never will. All you are saying is that Cantu’s new line looks very different from the original line to try to reach a wider audience at ulta. I got what you’re saying and honestly thought it was weird as well. I think the biggest differest here is that these products are Petrolatum and Coconut Oil unlike Cantu original which is geared towards folks who either don't want all that oil or have allergic reasons to coconut oil on their scalp 🙋🏾♂️. Also you get 3-4 more ounces than the original hence the bigger price tag.

To be completely honest it just sounds like cantu is trying to de-black it’s self and start catering to... well, white consumers. i’m glad you guys spoke about this because i really didn’t understand why cantu would decide to sell a “natural” hair line only in ulta, very... interesting.............
